Sniper’s extraordinary court appearance | Court in the Act
Why the man who assassinated Rebels bikie boss Nick Martin has made an extraordinary court appearance. Incredibly, the sniper whose identity is suppressed, claims he doesn’t care who knows his name, despite being a marked man.

It didn't stop the nation. We hardly heard about it on the East Coast.
You forget to mention that Nick Martin came off his Harley a week before the Bracovich altercation . He limped into that meeting on crutches which were left behind the bar. You can clearly see him limping after that had finished. I played rugby league with Nick in the early 90’s and he was no slouch in the fighting department and was feared by many . He was a prominent bouncer in those days and it didn’t take him long to make it to the top end of town . Google Brackovich he had one kickboxing fight and lost by KO so hardly the cage fighter that Harvey alludes to but don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story. While Nick had put on a few kilos in his older years and had stopped training . In his prime not many would have been able to handle him and that’s why he would have risen through the ranks of the rebels so quickly. RIP mate
The shooter is an amateur. Taking the gun to a gunsmith to replace the barrel, not getting rid of the shoes he wore on the night.
Sounds like the guy was a long sighted good sniper. But a short sighted criminal with the barrel left at the gun shop.
Absolute Bullshit, he was never a trained sniper, I worked with him on a land based drilling rig in the North West in 2017. We were contracting to the company for which he worked as an electrician. Both myself and my mate are veterans, Me in the ARA him in the USAF. Bravo Juliet was a Dropshort with an adrenaline rush fixation. Seemed totally fixated on getting a rush, hence medical support in African countries to base jumping off perfectly serviceable buildings. He was a try hard. HE WAS NEVER A SNIPER!!!!!!! He needed the money and someone offered him big dollars. Anyone in the ARA can take a 300 shot and hit a target. The fact he used two rounds to do it, shows he was shit at the task. He got sprung by sending his weapon off to a civilian armourer for a barrel change, instead of throwing it down a mine shaft like some former rapidly deconstructed ex copper did.

Was old mate even ex infantry? Lots of jobs in the Army, and plenty of ex servicemen who were clerks and cooks telling war stories so just wondering.

"The fact he used two rounds to do it, shows he was shit at the task" this is not an actual fact. The journalists, witnesses and Police claim only one shot was fired. The story is that the sniper only had 1 bullet. That throws shade on your other claims.
He was military trained. Basic infantry soldier would hit you in the chest from 300m within 12 weeks 10 out of 10 times. Learning to breathe while firing a rifle is pretty simple thing to do.
How far away was Don Hancock away from Billy Grierson when he shot him ?
Totally enjoy Bens reporting style, just the right mix of facts, context from all sides and with some old school Aussie humour, also generally respectful and accurate in the viewpoint of all involved, love your work :)
335m? Jeez, I've taken shots over 1500m. Why does any shot taken over 50m become a snipers shot?

Great coverage guys, loved it.
Being a marked man in prison is a unique opportunity too. Although he is marked, he is also valuable, and tradeable.
Another great podcast.
Sniper? Crap 335m shot at a man sized target could be accomplished by nearly anyone with a decent scope and centre fire rifle

Yep ! My kid can hit 5” plate at 300m easily
im surprised hits like this are not more common.
You forgot to mention he was stealing from the club.
I met “Rambo” in a bar in Benidorm in mid 2010s and he was the loviest guy. He had done some base jumps that day. I was totally shocked when I found out what he did.
335m is not a long shot…
2,000 AUD seems like a large sum of money in 1988. Now I'm English and think it's around £1,000. ....again, even a big amount for some 36 years ago.
Live in Queensland never heard of him
great insight. well done to you both
I remember the Rebbles parties in the 80s. They were family's that rode bikes. There parties were well organised. All children feed 1st and were all gone by 7:30 at night. Yes anyone could join because it wasn't a gang as much as a club. I wasn't a member but I liked alot of people there they were nice.
Why was there no mention of the snipers military career.?
And then the cops rang me…. Whatever you flogs…..

heh, you have no idea. Coppers not the heros you think.
Did Pechey really get booted because of that CCTV footage?
Great show
Very Entertaining
this b/s slowed my breathing
Not saying he would of won but Martin had a broken leg at the time of that fight.
Really interesting stuff.
330 metre shots on target happen thousands of times every weekend…..and naturally being WA it’s more than likely he’s military trained
🙌 Shadow of Hope
It’s a good story. But the Journalist is too dramatic. An excess of confidence that doesn’t fit well.
The Shooter Would 100% Be Held In The Special Handling Unit -SHU- In Casaurina And Probably Will Spend That 20year Sentence In That Unit
Hmmm. Where's the coffee and donuts?
Apparently he's the most shocked man in the cemetery 🪦
This guy sounds like a groupy
A 335m sniper shot is no big achieve. Wtf are you on about?
Tim save the editorial thesaurus for the columns. I really want to get into the content you have but don’t need a poetry lecture for an introduction to every upload.
Occupational hazard, death or prison and no superannuation in that given proffered occupation
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
Sounds like a local thug killed, I've never heard of him or the shooting.
You've got to love the comment about the suppression order and your show clearly mentioned his name I just hope that's an alias because you're breaching the orders aren't you

Its was thr kinda crime that changes the landscape of policing, eame thing happened when jason moran got shot at a kids footy game. The police went bizerk
We’re is this goose getting his info
Always amazed when I here that the hit man (elevated to sniper in this case) is short changed. "Come on! How dead did you want him?"
Babe ive been shot.yeah no shit Sherlock
335m isn't far at all...

I also don't get why you call him Ray Pie? Maybe a nickname cos he baked pies as a pastry chef? Cos his name is Raymond Bradley Chilly.
Fancy saying the suspects name.
Pfft! What's 350mtrs l do that just warming up.
So a $1m reward from the government is that common practice in Australia for a murder?as I would imagine unfortunately that probably happens daily or is that reward only offered for gang members that get murdered?

Uh turned out the Hurricane killed that guy after all, he confessed.
These blokes are terrible at construction a narrative. Are they legit reporters? My 4 year old tells better stories
In all honesty at this point in the proceedings the suppression order really serves no purpose. The rebs know the name, some of the public know it and you can be damn sure it is known throughout the WA prison system. The courts really should just drop it and let old mate out of the SHU. Old mate knew what he was doing when he shot Nick and therefore at some point in the future he is going to have to deal with the consequences. Obviously the prison should make him sign a waiver so he can't sue when he eventually gets banged or knocked.
Grueling barbaric gang history at its best-perhaps.
Getb to the fucking point about the hit
