If you was an OG sneaker head like me (since 1990) you'd know that "deadstock" actually means brand new, but unsold. Because the retailer couldn't offload them. It was a retailer's saying that has been hijacked by resellers. And bricks is a bit insulting as most OG colourway retros don't have high resell, and they're the best shoes. So I'd rather a "brick" than have hyped up crap on my feet.

Imma clear it up a little more, "bricks" most of the time mean that the shoe is hard to sell and you don't make too much profit, but it's mainly use for that first part, you can buy shoes for 600$ less than retail but if no one wants them then it's not that much of a win

I would not call those sneakers. Where did that word come from? Canadians call the Michael Jordan's just simply Basketball shoes. Some of the others are runners or running shoes. My buddy's American and he mentioned tennis shoes. Never heard that one before.
