The Shark is Broken stars two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Brightman (Beetlejuice, School of Rock) as Richard Dreyfuss, Colin Donnell (Anything Goes, “Chicago Med”) as Roy Scheider, and Ian Shaw who is making his Broadway debut portraying his father Robert Shaw, who played “Quint” in JAWS. Co-written by Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon, this new Olivier Award-nominated comedy imagines what happened on board “The Orca” when the cameras stopped rolling during the filming of Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster, JAWS.
FADE IN: The open ocean, 1974. Filming on JAWS is delayed…again. The film’s lead actors-theatre veteran Robert Shaw and young Hollywood hotshots, Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Scheider-are crammed into a too-small boat, entirely at the mercy of foul weather and a faulty mechanical co-star. Alcohol flows, egos collide, and tempers flare on a chaotic voyage that just might lead to cinematic magic…if it doesn’t sink them all.

Saw it this past Sunday, and all I can say is go see it if you can. Absolutely brilliant, funny and the cast has the same chemistry as the three actors from the film. Robert Shaw would be very proud of his son.
From what I can see in this clip, Alex Brightman was perfectly cast as Richard Dreyfus. He has nearly identical energy, charisma, and eccentricity!
My second favorite movie, and I've always had an odd crush on Richard Dreyfus in it, and now why am I crushing on Alex Brightman AS Richard Dreyfus. 😂
Robert Shaw signed a Lobster Bouy for my Dad back in 1974. Still have it. We couldn't find the other cast members

EXACTLY. His appearance is perfect, but his accent feels, just, affected at times.
That guy really sounds like Richard Dreyfus.

That would be Alex brightman. The most talented person on the planet( in my opinion) he was beetlejuice in beetlejuice the musical on broadway.

My husband & I saw this yesterday & we loved it!🦈
This had me fooled; I actually thought they made a cringy musical out of Jaws. But I had to think about it: a play about the actual drama of making the movie…that’s brilliant!
Between this cast and the guy playing Marty McFly's dad, I just don't know how they get such perfect lookalikes sometimes
God I wish I got to see this, it must've been a lot of fun! Also, random question, what's the background music playing, it slaps!

Shaw is a dead ringer for his father......but why do I see a hint of Eric Idle in his face???

Not Eric Idle, but Michael Palin. 😂 I had to look REAL HARD because I thought it was Sir Galahad. 😂

I think "Dreyfuss" has had too many lox and bagels.
It was amazing enough that Robert Shaws son is a carbon copy of his old man, but the actor playing Dreyfus is uncanny! Close your eyes, and you can’t tell the difference!
