Hi, just wondering why need to change the base?

How do you make sure you don't mess up the male buckle? Most of the time, one side of the male buckle gets bent when I push the plier down. Then it makes it hard to close the snap

That makes a lot more sense than the instructions that came with my kit thank you. I still don't understand why you need to use the awl though. Shouldn't that just be for difficult fabrics?

The awl is necessary in all fabrics, so as not to mistreat your snap and ensure a clean job.

@@VivianaDoula Thanks, mine says just for tricky fabrics although that does seem to be anything thicker than tissue, lol. I will use my awl for everything I just get fed up with changing tools.
