I know this is weird but I asked Chatser AI about basting the crab shells. Here is it’s answer: “As an AI language model, I do not have personal experience with cooking, but as per my knowledge, the basting of butter and lemon juice can penetrate the shells of snow crabs to some extent, but the degree of penetration may vary depending on the thickness and hardness of the shell. However, most of the flavor and moisture will be absorbed by the meat inside the shell. It is essential to baste the crab frequently while cooking to enhance the flavor and ensure even cooking.”!

Have you ever had crab legs done this way ? I have and the meat gets smoked, not sure how it does but it does !

The smoke from the shell gets on your fingers and then you taste the smoke. I doubt a 30 minute smoke would do anything but penetrate the knuckles in the slightest way…

@@WhatOllieDidNext The butter does even worse than the smoke I'd bet. Would be much better to just use it as a dipping sauce.

The smoke and butter will penatrate the shells enough to taste
When you're fingers look like sausages it's time to take a step back

😂😂😂
I don't get seasoning the shell. It makes more sense to just use it as a dip for the meat. Most of the basting gets wasted. All it does is make it smell good at that point.
Looking good!
Bruh, what is covering the shell in butter going to do 😭

For everyone that's making negative comments, you've never had smoked crab legs. Different level of crab legs for sure. Malcom is one of the best in the country. 👍🏿👌🏿
You're killing me Mr. Malcom!
Grill temperature? Not sure if I missed it
New Subscriber 😋✊🏾
Use that as a baste and then add BBQ sauce to the baste to serve as dipping sauce. Been doin it for years. Best way to eat crab legs!
I love this guy!! lol
Bro got waves!
I been doing my crab legs on the grill for about 5 years. I love it.
Bomb AF!
Heck yeah those look good!
I was guessing he was going to eat the shell 🤣
You’re the best!!!
Yep looking mighty delicious 💯
Of course those will be good. But I swear, so few people understand that nothing will actually penetrate through the exterior of most crustaceans/shellfish. Skip the butter part and save money. Make half that amount and use it to dip the crab meat into after. There will be 0 difference in flavor. No matter who tells you different.
Almost spoke in tongues at the end 😭
You know it’s gon be good when they have a southern accent
This guy taught me how to bbq and how to smoke.
Yes sir that's look so good 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
"We're going to add a tablespoon or so", lol that looked like a whole cup
