Charybdis was a Nymph, daughter of Poseidon. Makes sense that after being freed she would return to her original form....or at least to a degree, the Maw shows that while she has been freed the curse laid upon her still remains

In the original version Scylla and Charybdis were just huge monsters, not little girls. I guess that making them little girls makes the smite characters more appealing for the public. They originally appear in the Oddissey and Ulysses has to choose which monnster to face and ends up with his ship wrecked and many of the sailors dead.

@@garreonlefay6703 i mean, not necessarily, they could make him a fast god with abilities around supporting their team, and maybe a passive that if near odin boosts both move speeds or smthn (just off my head 1st thought) and as jeb said, make him a guardian or warrior, imo guardian. or maybe just buff their team, debuff enemies, but not to the "must pick" levels obv.

I like how in their combat scenarios for hunters everybody's fighting, leaving the hunter to just do their thing. Real combat scenario is when the enemy team just wipes you outta existence even before the fight starts...

I know they were trying to honor Scylla here, but her 3 and 4 ability should really have been swapped around. Charybdis is known for being the giant monstrous whirlpool. That as an ult and much bigger and more catastrophic would have been an ideal set!

It's slower start-up then scyllas but yes you can push enemies with the range and finish them off. Thing is I'm sure you can beads out of it before it pushes you all the way so you are really just looking to bite down immidiately

What this other guy said, also she is a hunter so sitting in the ult for will actually probably lower damage output since you can’t auto in it. Will have to see tho

where I come we have a saying that basically means "between a rock and a hard place" and it goes like "between scyla and carybdis". we also say "between the hammer and the anvil". I'm really glad both scyla and carybdis are in the game now.

I would have expected Charybdis to stay in her monster form since that is the form most people think of when they hear the name Charybdis.

Yeah, the occasional new interaction/directed taunt/new voicelines in general would be nice nuggets of content for updates. If they ever put the Persian Pantheon in the game Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu would be a great double release like the Horus and Set one. They'd definitely have some special interactions.

Calling it now: The 3 is gonna be the first thing to get nerfed. Instant immunity AND she becomes untargetable? As a hunter? And with an ultimate that also grants her cc immunity and self peel? Ok, lol

I was hoping Charybdis's Ult would be her whirlpool form and it would be similar to Hades's Ult in that it drags everyone into the center, but then it would end with a huge spout of water that blasts everyone backwards and deals damage to them.

for me I have less time to play so owning them all since 2014 and taking huuuge hiatuses from the game now and again means I still haven't really played all of em, and I get more enjoyment testing Off Builds to see what certain gods can get away with. It just means I have plenty of time to test everyone and they practically come out with new ones faster than I do this with how much I play so I'll never run out or have to 'grind' or pay more to try something new when I see an opportunity. It's a nicer slow chill long game type deal for me.

Think Umibozu might work for an assassin? Its from Japanese myth. It apparently was a giant shadowy human-like entity that terrorized sailors. It can cause 'thunderous chaos' with just its appearence. Maybe Dagon for a Guardian? He's mentioned in the Esoteric Order of Dagon by Lovecraft & I think is from Mesopotamian myths.

Poseidon and Scylla mixed together. Its so awesome. Her passive is like Poseidons but with attack speed. Her ult is like Scylla's ult but in a cone. Perfect.

I love her and she is cool but I think the “Whirlpool Form” ability one should be her ultimate for me (IMO)

@@josephhakim2344 agreed. And for such a greatly model designed goddess, I do not like how she was actually done. I rather wish it was, instead, a fairly large conveyor belt like circle that allies gained movement speed inside while going with the current as enemies were slowed while moving against the current. No cripple à la Poseidon, no knock-up à la Jormungandr: it would be much more like a circle He Bo atlas. Using her raging tides passive could have boosted the effects to double the movement speed and slow based on team affiliation... Her cone could just be a tremble, as it is a giant spurt of pressurized water out, like a dragon's breath or something, so why does it slow you at all? Conceptually, that makes no sense to me either. At least the water being a physical protection reduction makes sense, and the tide interaction I enjoy. Again, I just strongly dislike how her whirlpool ability was done visually. "The Maw" doesn't even have a mouth that could open how the ability is portrayed - which is much more like that of a leech than the piranha esque, angler esque jaw - so I find it very messy and confusing looking. Also, it being, essentially, a much better Sol disapparate really bugs me. The immunity + the movement speed + much more reliable damage + a knock-up? I feel bad for how outclassed disapparate now looks. Furthermore, as they really wanted the whole chomping reset action, why didn't they even have "The Maw" swim from underneath and arise from below like a Hades leap? It would make a lot more sense with it being a sea monster and could grant the same idea of a shark attack from the depths only much more satisfying/less strange looking to me. Make sure it was as slow and you could see The Maw via a dorsal fin, or something, as it travels. That could be her spitting back out the sea three times a day as the myths go, and the knock-up could be relocated there. Again...that's just me though. I don't like the visuals of those two abilities AT ALL...but I am not the devs, so my opinion means basically nothing. TL;DR: She has an awesome character model to me, but those two abilities look terrible I would say.

You know, when I first heard the abilities, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I currently do. Before I thought it was a fairly boring concept, but now that I actually see it in action, it mixes Apollo's passive of hitting autos to get AS and Bacchus' Smash'o'meter. Definitely can see Scylla's inspiration on Charybdis as well as it does pull from her passive and ult as well as design. Not gonna lie, this might actually get me to try her out in ADC, but I'm thinking this might be a really good Jungle pick as well. Passive increases Attack Speed, 1 is a stim, great for clearing camps, 2 is a good tool for ganking, 3 is great for chasing, pressuring, escaping and is a great movement option if you are damage immune whilst in Whirlpool form (Which appears to be the case), and the Ult is a cleanup tool that allows for people to keep pressure on their opponents and hit inside tower just like Scylla, regain time on Ultimate, and combo high damage into more high damage if you can get a hit on the ult that kills and one that doesn't. Overall less mobility then most junglers, but that 3 is gonna be a great initiation tool or escape plan.

I like the ult name it's a reference to Yagorath in Paladins because that's what an allied yago says when she ults someone

That would give me the greatest pleasure, he being able to do Shiva and Dourga, the Indian god and goddess. 🙏

I love Charybdis but as a giant whirlpool monster I thought she would be all about draw-ins and slowing effects. She barely has any CC in her kit.

I wish they'd invest in the other Pantheons more. The Greek Pantheon currently has over 20 gods. Some of the others have less than 5 or even just a single god. I get it, I love the Greek Pantheon too, and there's a lot to work with; but it'd be cool to see other gods introduced!

I feel like Charybdis is gonna be pretty good as a Solo-Lane Hunter. Good CC and survivability, good clear, and good kill potential, along with a heavy emphasis on attack speed that would build really well with a Manikin's, which would make her oppressive in the stage of the game that Hunter Solos get to play their game.

When she comes out?

She actually moves slower upon activation, whereas Charybdis not only goes faster upon activation, but can also spend tide to go even faster. Sol's 3 has a wait time for her immunity. Charybdis is immune from the moment her 3 is activate to the moment it ends. You follow Sol after her 3, you might get burned due to the trail of flame, but you can easily avoid this. You follow Charybdis after her 3, IF YOU CAN CATCH HER due to her initial speed boost, she can either simply spend tide to move faster, or she can spend tide, double back on you, do the extra damage, knock you up at the end, and then she can take her chances on trying to get away in her normal form, but the knock up will still give her the edge as you are still in the air and she is on the ground and there is no lag period from when her 3 ends, so she can start moving as soon as the ability ends. Sorry, but Charybdis wins this one.

The word close and hunter dont mix well with me. And if she's like scylla, doesnt that mean her health bar is quite small compared to other choices? I feel like playing before her eventual buff is gonna be a chore

Did you even try her in pts? She literally threads everything in the game with no issue even with only two or three items
