Cool! You know Kali is the incarnation of Parvati, the wife of Shiva! And in one of the forms of Shiva, he takes the form of Ardhanareeshvara. Shiva's half is Parvathi and her half is Shiva and they are one! So, many interesting Lore and stories in Hinduism.

Every Puran has its own version of Lore!

My Intro to Hinduism professor on day 1 said that Hindu mythology is like Tolkein on steroids. I highly recommend anyone to check out the stories such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.

Shiva has got to be my favorite of the hindus, he's fun to play, he feels really powerful since hes kinda tanky while also doing a bunch of damage.

Smite shouldn't have included Shiva in the game. Brahma & Vishnu as well if there is any plan to include them. These three Trinity is the embodiment of anything you can think of in this universe or beyond. They are the same for Hindus what Allah is for muslims or God is for Christians, & still revered by a billion.

I never thought I'd enjoy playing as Ganesha so much considering I tend to focus on more aggressive gods like Cabrakan, Camazotz and Izanami. But he's easily in my top five most played gods.

i love the hindu pantheon there so cool the arms if i remeber right represent the amount of ability they can do. also baraka from mk should look familiar to bakasura as baraka race was based on him, fun fact

Oh man, Hindu Gods in Smite are some of their best designs I think. Personally, Kali is one of my favorites in the game to play. Played well, she is an absolute harbinger of destruction as her title would suggest. She's a late game hypercarry, or a character that if the game goes past 30-35 minutes, she probably wins the game by herself, regardless of what her teammates are doing.

In college hostels, Police came and checked our laptops. They hired hackers to track Indian Smite players and jail them for 3 years.

But many facts are not correct. Do you know where was Ravana born? How did he get the title Rakshasa? Sticking to vedic history got you wrong, there are two aspects of History one was in Ayodhya and the other is of the Dravida which of South of India. First learn about it then say. Who is the hero of Ramayana and Mahabharatha do you know it and why?

Kumbha is my favorite hindu god to play honestly, as a support your job is to facilitate your team and peel enemies off of them, and Kumbha has ALL the crowd control abilities to do so. Setting up for big ults by stunning a few with groggy strike, or stopping a jungler from ganking your carry with mighty yawn are just so powerful. He's very underrated because he doesn't do big damage, but if you can hit your CC at the right times, your team will love you for it.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames It really is, if you're decent at it. Support requires a lot more thinking and anticipating enemy plays than the other roles. You may not get many kills but knowing that you set up that big ult that demolished the enemy in a teamfight feels SO good.

The fox squirrel thing is Rattataskr (i probably spelled that wrong). Hes a norse god, youll learn about later :) Also, i think Vamana didnt have a reveal because he was one of the OG smite gods you could play as

Hi-Rez doesn't do a lot of new Hindu gods now, due to the backlash from adherents of that faith for how their gods are portrayed. When Ganesha was released they made a huuuuge stink about it, despite the portrayal of these gods being respectful. They just didn't like their gods being included in a video game because it 'trivialized' them or something. The latest one was Shiva, and I think it'll be a while before another one comes along :P

Kali killed that self-cloning demon in the most metal way imaginable. She would cut off their heads, and then drink their blood before it could hit the ground. And if ever a drop did manage to hit the ground, she would eat them whole before they could grow to full size.

Lore wise Ken has the combat edge this time simply via wisdom and virtue, but Beth of course has Luck AND Destiny so... prolly pretty even. again. game wise Ken acually has some pocket disruption that is surprisingly strong. Beth has massive trbl trbl dmg though, if her team got the first move she'd have a good chance of winning.

so, I know you are not playing the game and that doesn't influence your choices, but the reason vamana was probably excluded was because he was one of the original released gods and the other hindu gods from that time were redesigned way before his redesign occurred, so this might impact your available videos for lore with the Greek, Egyptian, Norse, and Chinese. Plus, the Chinese pantheon has undergone a lot of changes as two gods were completely redesigned and their old kits were given to two Mayans, while some of their abilities were taken and given to other gods (Ganesha's ult belonged to Nu Wa before she got reworked completely). I would suggest doing the Chinese gods next, but making sure they are up to date

The Hindu mythological lore of Ravana has 2 stories. He was born in a Hindu Bramhin family in Ayodhya. He excelled in every aspects be it creativity, combart, literature, philosophy. He went to South to learn about the Dravida Arts and got a quite amount of expertise in there. So he became the King of Lanka aka Modern Sri Lanka and Had included many large regions of Malaysia stretching upto parts of Thailand and Phillipines. He was contemporary to Rama's father. When he learnt that a soon to be queen and king of his birthplace was living in the jungle, he went to that jungle to give them a shelter. During that time, we Hindu's had many rules like if one men could make decision and woman had to follow it. He sent his messenger to Rama to come to his town and live there for 14 years but refused. this part is present in Dravidian books, not in Magadha, Vedic books. Rama declined his help to keep his fathers words. So he devised a way to bypass it by using her sister and one of her loyal minions to bring them towards but that failed also. Then he alone went to bring them but the Prince Rama and Lakshmana was not in the house. So he didn't enter their house as he thought it would bring dishonor to his pride. When Sita(wife of rama) saw a person in plain clothes roaming near her house she went to him to give food as she thought the person(Ravana) came from long way. Then Ravana insisted that she come with her as she as a princess of his birthplace(Ayodhya) living in the jungle alone. Little knowing about the persons background and the deal struck between the prince and king of prince, she went with the person and when Ravana took her to his kingdom Lanka, she understood that he was the king of this place. When people knew about Sita they thought he had brought her as a bride. But when she revealed to the people of Lanka that she was married, Ravana got the title "Rakhsasa" which meant Demon. After bringing Sita he was known as Rakhsasa. Before that he was an all Knowing king, virtuous Warrior. The title of Rakhsasa can only be removed if he married Sita and he didn't want to. If you want your wife back from someone, you need to fight for it. Fight of the aphas. Even the Hanumana's lore was incorrect. That is the mythological lore in as much simple and neutral language I could provide. So send this story to Hi Rez and make it correct.

Finally, my time to shine. A lot of the lore here is extremally overly simplified but I guess it works. You probably realized this but Smite doesn't just bring Gods but also other creatures and so on, So we have 'demons' in the mix for Hindu Pantheon here. Somewhat fitting, considering most of the 'demons' in the myths are sibling to the Deities, the lesser gods. The interesting thing about Hindu myths is that like Greek myths, there a so many versions to them that are preserved through either writing or oral traditions. You always have to chose one version over the other, especially when it comes to different sects of the religion. Interesting tidbit : While Hinduism is mostly polytheistic, the religion does believe in a single God, called the Supreme Soul, who is like the Biblical God, absent the personality. All the Gods you see are personal reflections of that one soul.

I was always fascinated by the Hindu and their pantheon cause it's very different from the others. The teachings, the conflicts and interactions between the gods is very interesting and feels more alien if you're familiar with Norse, Roman/Greek and even Chinese/Japanese, or simply Christianity. It leans very heavily on the grey area of all paths of life and shows life in a more balanced state than "good vs evil" or that Gods are selfish douchebags in retrospect. Hindu gods feels more beyond our understanding at times and I love how something that could easily be considered evil as a god of destruction is one of balance, as creation and destruction is two sides of the same coin. It's also the only religion if I recall that actually goes on about space itself and its place, way beyond we actually explored it, whilst other religions were going on about hells and heavens. Personally though always loved Ravana and his story. At first glance and from the perspective of Rama, he can easily be portrayed as the ultimate villain, but digging deeper he's a lot more fascinating and complex, and can even be viewed as an anti-hero in some texts or interpretations.

Tbh, The Greek/Hellenic pantheon is a lot more varied than given credit for. A lot of "douchebag" like stories you know of is all due to a Roman poet named Ovid who kinda just altered most of the stories to put them in bad light. A good example is Medusa, like in her original story she was always a monster/goddess that terrorized people. She just so happened to be the only mortal of the 3 gorgons so she was killed

Shiva the word means nothingness and he/she is also everything. He/she is formless and also is everything. everything is a part of him/her. That's why we Hindus do meditation to find Shiva within ourselves. Hinduism's core philosophy is advait meaning Non-duality. Every god or goddess is Shiva. And guess what when Shiva came in the form of Sankara which we see in this video. He chose mountain kailash as his Adobe and that mountain is still unclimbed and it is not even the Highest mountain of this planet. So yeah for me he/she is everything 😅❤

Yknow... Smite has always rubbed me the wrong way because Hinduism is actually a practiced faith today. I'm not a devout enough Hindu to be up in arms about this and I've played the game (its fun!). I do think that if you want to make a game about real world faith, sure, go do it but do it right. If y'all are interested, I'd highly recommend a lil indie game called Raji! Its made with a very different tone to it and I (personally) think it's much more in sync with the IRL faith and myth of it all and made in India to boot!

Also, Ravana had 10 heads, which meant he had the brain of all 10 skills needed for a person. He was master in literature, art, crafts, hyms, dance, knowledge, wisdom, hand to hand fighting, weapon mastery and for making the right choices. He chose to fight for his people's suffering brought down by Hanuman's mischievous act. If he didn't burnt their houses then he woulve given Sita back. The things which is shown in TV and movies are literally false.

I've always found the Hindu gods to be rather strange. They're just so different from the Greek gods (my personal faves) and there are things in that mythology that just...don't make sense. Seriously creepy stuff.
