Smashville...Kings & Coho Salmon!

Спорт

The Quinault Reservation is a phenomenal location for salmon, trout & steelhead. This particular trip took place in mid-October, during a mixture of King Salmon & Coho (Silver) Salmon coming in. Ruben Estavillo, the guide, had been getting them pretty good, so Nick Amato and Lucas decided to jump on board with James Beasley to give these fish a shot. Armed with Wicked Lure spinners, they swung, as well as twitched for these fish.
The lower river produced, but the bulk of the tidal push had already moved through. In order to get in front of more fish, Ruben put the boat back on the trailer and headed up to the Cook Creek launch. After going through a log-jam, they started picking apart the water and hooked a couple fish. Eventually, they found a fresh push of prime coho and started hammering them left and right. After a beatdown of both kings and coho they eventually had to leave to prepare for the long drive home...but it was hard to leave! One More Cast!!
Excellent trip - STS would highly recommend booking trips on the Quinault Reservation - it's hard to find a better fishery.

what a video! I love the Quinault both lower and upper, it's a magical place. I fished the lower with Inky Charlie back in the 90's - fished the upper with Dan Little for 25 years. So many big salmon and huge wild steelhead - do these things while you can so you have the memories when you get old!!

Missed out on the coho there this year due to low flows early on. Sure slammed the kings tho on eggs. Love that river. Did catch some king jacks and one adult on the wicked. Watched this video numerous times. Can't get enough.🎣🎣🎣🎣

This show Is very well done! It reminds me of Fishing the West... Thanks for making a real quality fishing show apart from all of the recent ones that are all about self promotion and arrogance.

I’m an avid bass anglers and I found that using a 1/8 jighead with a white or Chartreuse crappie tube or curly tail slays them too.

What size weight of Dave's Tangle free did you use above the Wicked Lure for twitching? Looks like it was an awesome day!:)

1/2 oz but 1/3, 2/3 and 3/4 all work depending on the water you're in.

Lovin’ ur videos. Any advice w/ water 20+ ft? Is it literally a Dave’s tangle on top of lure? I’d love to try this!

Go heavy! 3/4 oz might be ideal. Just make sure you put a bead in between the weight and the blade. Or run a 1oz. weight with 3 foot leader to get a nice swing.

I have booked several trips with the Quinault Reservation Guide Services and not have any luck at all, and Lucas Holmgren comes along and hooks several fish. What's going on? I am about to quit going with guides, a waste of money. It's disappointing, I was there on October 8th, 2020, and I am thinking Ruben Estavillo must have ashed the rest of the tribe to keep their nets out of the river for this episode to show. The Guide I was with also was using the wicked lures had no luck.

Sorry to hear you've had a tough time - talk to the guides about going during peak season and watch the conditions. It can be amazing for Winter Steelhead December-March.

Exactly...the guide l use waited until fish were being caught on a regular basis, and we went. Omg the king fishing was epic. We didn't have wicked lures, but will be in our arsenal next time. We killed it with quality eggs under a float.
