He is just so weird like some of the smaller characters here are just so tiny they're hard to hit they're hitbox is just tiny you could either be so big you stomp them out and they barely move the centimeter when they run a kilometer to their scale or they're like the size of carpet Kirby and one foot and they just duck under every hit instead of just being microscopic

He might be a bit shorter, an average adult grizzly bear stands at 9 feet, but there's an argument to say he's not fully grown yet being a teenager. The average length of a banjo is... well there's a couple sizes but they usually average about 27 inches, or just over 2 feet. So unless he got one custom made (also possible) he would have to be around 5-6 feet to present playing a banjo normally.

10:00 man, could you imagine a "canonical strength" mod? The amount of research that'd have to go into making that would be insane. A good start would be making a scale, so like let's say a Mario punch is 10P strong, but certain moves would apply to characters differently. Like, Joker's gun could probably kill Bowser so you'd give it a huge score like 500P, right? But then it doesn't affect Samus terribly. But Shulk's sword could insta-kill Samus, and it's probably only like 300P strong. You'd start to have to take physics into account, and it's only a bigger rabbit hole from there.

Canonical strength would be so op for characters like Bowser and King K. Rool though. Hell, the reason DK can go against the Kremlings is because he's incredibly strong too. Both kings would be one-hit monsters against characters like the Pokémon and melee weapon holders.

Kirby fights an eldritch horror every Tuesday because his cake was stolen, Bayonetta fights Archangels as mini-bosses, Joker summoned Satan to kill a false god that was in the middle of combining multiple realities into one, every single one of the pokemon can survive attacks from the animalistic personifications and creators of time, space, death, life, and reality, Sonic can exist outside of reality and rewrite universes. A canonical power mod would basically make every character besides Kirby and Sonic useless, and even then Sonic is getting carried by his feats in the Archie comics.

Physical strength, like one punch to another, gun against flesh, that's a whole different setup and that's what the OP meant. You'd be right in a different argument, you just misinterpreted what we were going for. Sonic punches Bowser, not much is going to happen. Bowser punches Sonic, a lot of bones broken and possibly killed. Joker shoots Bowser with a gun, Bowser will either be hurt or if in the heart or head, dead. He's not bulletproof.

Joker's gun would be tricky, since canonically its strength is context-sensitive. In the cognitive world, it's perceived as a real gun by their enemies so it works like a real gun. But in reality, it's just an extremely detailed airsoft model.

The fact that Kirby is canonically less than 1 foot makes his feats even more impressive.

Bowser is kinda similar although still more consistent with his height. In the original 2d games he was barely taller than Mario, but he’s much bigger in mario 64. Of course he can also be the size of Godzilla in certain games, but those aren’t very representative of his normal height.

I ran into a similar issue with Dedede. In games like Kirby's Dream Land and Return to Dream Land, he's not much taller than Kirby, but in games like Super Star and Squeak Squad, he's about 3 times taller. It's weird.

Banjo’s cannon size actually makes a weird amount of sense. He’s called a “Teddy bear” by actual baby Polar Bears in Freezezy Peak.

Same can be said for every character in this game. Smash isn't canon, and with your logic every character will have the correct height because Sakurai said so.

@@ValToadstool I feel like that's still a reach. Yeah, Ridley's design in Smash is not straight from one of the games (Though it's PRETTY close to his Super Metroid sprite), but that criteria still applies to a lot of characters in the game to varying degrees. Like Bowser's design in Smash isn't pulled directly from any particular game. Like Ridley, he's just got most of the recognizable features, but has a few tweaks to look more fierce or realistic or capable of doing all the things a fighter in Smash is supposed to do.

Fun fact. According to kirby and the forgotten lands, kirby is actually 2 ft tall. The same result you get when measuring him against Samus in Kirby's dreamland 3 Now, almost every other kirby game has him at 8 in, but the ones that do are never cannon (like smash melee)

@@hioman Ehhh. We need actual confirmation before we start claiming he's 2 feet tall. The measurements in Kirby's world are all wack anyways. Light-years being used for sml planetoids which would make them larger than solar systems for the meteor baseball minigame, megatons being needed to crack the whole planet, and 999 meters being the depth needed to reach the other side of the planet.

in spite of being only 8 inches tall, Kirbo is also, canonically and without peer, the strongest fighter on the Smash roster. i'm dead serious, nobody else even comes close to the sheer level of power that kid has.

@@SpacePotato2he didn't eat a car, he got stuck on it. But he's about the height of a car's door handle. We also see him in relation to a vending machine.

I like this, because Pichu's size was actually important to balancing, because Pichu was so small that his self damaging actually wasn't enough to offset the size and speed he had, so they kept making him bigger. I don't know if they ended up making Pichu unironically bigger than Pikachu.

its mainly cus everyone has varying proportions irrelevant to any other character unless theyre part of the same universe. ie Bayonetta is around 9 to 11 Heads tall which puts her at more than 6'10ft in reality. her legs are very long too. Wolf who is also around her height, is 4 to 5 1/2 heads tall, which is the proportions of a *child* so he's technically the the size of a giant child, in reakity his head height would put him closer to Ness' height who is 3-4 heads tall. If Bayo was in StarFox's universe and made to BE apart of that world, she'd also be around 5 heads tall proportionally. Her head expanded, and her legs and arms shortened ect but would still be designed in a way to make her taller than Wolf. (i chose Bayonetta cus her proportions are INSANE, despite her realistic artstyle. Samus has this same principle and she is closer to Wolf's height, her proportiins are longer than his making her look taller. ) this image shows what I mean with heights vs proportions. i.pinimg.com/originals/46/41/94/4641943792b92a90837ab9eb52db0948.jpg headsize also plays a roll, Bayonetta has a small head so 5 Bayonetta heads tall looks different from 5 Wolf Heads tall, Wolf in her world would also be designed to be 9 heads tall. his head would also probably shrink. so thats why Wolf would look waaay shorter despite him and Bayo being similar in height.

Smash with canon sizes needs to be it's own game.

Or just a settings feature that we can toggle canon sizes on and off when setting up a match, so if someone wanted to they could use canon sizes for their character while someone else chooses not to use it

He's taller than the child though, and a 10 year old child is typically 50-59 inches compared to Lucario's official 47. So there is a bit of a disparity

@@EmperorZ19 That's because there's *_size varience_* in Pokémon, that Lucario that he showed is simply _larger_ than the *average* 3'11 Lucario. Alpha Pokémon for instance are practically *_Twice_* the average size.

@@LittleSylveon Way before that actually, as far back as gen 3 (the original Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire) there was size variation in each species. There are actually even a couple of trainers in gen 3 that want you to catch one size extreme or the other of certain pokemon and reward you rather handsomely if you can present a specimen that meets their criteria. I think the size variation in gen 3 might have actually been more extreme than what we see in Arceus; using Gardevoir as an example, gen 3 let Gardevoir be as short as 94cm or as tall as 233cm, while Gardevoir in Arceus only got as short as 128cm and even including alphas they only got as tall as 256 cm.
