Smash Burgers

Smash Burgers cooked on The Big Green Egg
Use an 80 / 20 meat blend
Set grill to approx 450 degrees or Med / High on a gas grill
Roll a lose meatball a little bit larger than a golf ball
If you don’t have Grill Grates - www.amazon.com/13-75-GrillGra...
You can use a flat cooking skillet or cast iron pan
Smash meat down into a thin patty even all around season with salt, pepper, garlic and close grill for 4 minuets
Open lid and flip patty , season and close lid for 2 mins
Open lid, add your favorite cheese and close for 2 more mins
Build the best burger you have ever had!
Sauce Recipe
1/2 cup mayo
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Mustard
1/2 cup diced dill pickles
Season with salt / pepper

    Nice! I've got grillgrate too and thought smashing might not work with the holes but it does. Ever think of repositioning the burger on the flip to a different spot that has a higher heat? If you flip and replace in the same spot it won't be as hot as the others. Thanks for sharing.

    How much hotter were the grill grates than the temp of the grill itself?

    Thanks so much Bill. I would go one of 2 ways : you can use a cast iron skillet on the Weber and also GrillGrates.com has a set that fits the Weber. They are fantastic for getting nice grill marks and you can flip em upside down and use it as a griddle.

    It was a magnetic light that Big Green Egg made. I bought it at my local hardware store. I think they still make them. Works fantastic

    BigPaulOnTheGrill yes I was also wondering this as you kept them on the grill for longer than usual. My patties are usually just under 3 ounces and they take a minute on each side at 500F
