Smart WiFi Blinds Motor From Ajax - Setup And Review
You can either buy an integrated Smart Blinds solution or you can transform your existing Blinds by using something like the Ajax Smart Blind Motor. In this video I show you how you can set this up to transform your "dumb" Blinds to "smart"
The Ajax Smart Blind Motor or engine works really well with Alexa as well as the Google Home ecosystem, so if you're inclined either way, you're covered. In this video, I'll be showing the Alexa setup only, but if you guys would like to see the Google side of things, please do comment below. I'll go through how you can set up some useful routines to make using the Smart Blind Motor easier to use.
It was really easy to set things up and I've had no issues with the blinds thus far, touch wood. Granted I've only had them for about a week, it's not surprising. If anything goes wrong long term I will make a follow-up video.

Great Video, been looking at loads and this is the one that gives clear, concise information. Like the other comments its a shame that there isn't the option to fully open and close as well as rotate the blinds. Keep up the great work!

Hello. Thanks for sharing, I have the same types of blinds- with one beaded string and a normal straight dangle from the side. Looks like the AJAX connected to the beaded string and only rotate the vertical blinds. Wondering if you have found a different motorised system that actually opening and closes the blinds completely (goes fully left and right) +/- rotate them? Currently doing my little search. Many thanks

No problem Keith. I've not found any that work for opening the blinds completely as there is nothing to latch on to. There should be an option for this

@@ManchesterTechGuy Thanks, spending lot more time to search for the right product. Currently moving onto Soma Smart Shades 2 which says compatible with “endless loop non-beaded cord” and comes with solar panel for recharging. £129 from official website. Will continue my search ☺️

Yeah, unfortunately it can't open them fully.
Do you need to use the screw or can you use some kind of strong tape

do you need to keep the power on or does it charge the battery?

For this specific model of Blind Motor, you do need them to be powered on all the time. It is not re-chargeable, unfortunately.
Is there something that can open and/or pull the blinds too?

Unfortunately with this there isn't. It just works with the beaded string

Hi Alvin, unfortunately there isn't anything for the Ajax Smart Blind Motor, which is a shame.
Does this motor require a hub to connect to an Alexa??

Hey Oscar, it doesn't. You just need the smart life app and it'll connect directly to your WiFi. Then in the Alexa App you need to enable the smart life skill
