My dad's looking for pretty much this exact thing - he still listens to CD's but needs a decent compact amp, and I think I can rope him into starting out with streaming a bit. Just perfect.

This unit sounds best with heos/airplay. Airplay plays lossless and the marantz unit comes alive with airplay. When you connect airplay you switch to heos input and you don’t even need the app. Also I believe that unit is class A/B as distortion rating 0.4%

@@diegocanale1124 You are correct, I checked to see after. That's why I already decided to pass on the unit. Just wanted to say audio sounds the best on airplay at least on the 2019 and up models.

For music, not much comes close to beating Marantz. LOVE my SR5012 and ND8006, and look forward to picking up the SR5017 when it comes out in a couple of years.

I own the MCR611, it has so many features with pretty much all the connectivity allowing you to play music in so many ways. I have it connected to a pair of Q Acoustics Concept 20 speakers and sounds amazing. I love this hifi so much!

Who uses this device via Bi-Amping?Is it possible to press Enter and exit to another submenu?What should be on the display?

I wanted to buy this product but I couldn’t find a dealer with had it in stock and they couldn’t say when it would be available. So I bought a Marantz PM7000N. And I’m very happy with it. In Fact the PM7000N was to good for my speakers so I looked who pairs good with sound of the Marantz and I found a pair that has the sound that I like namely Amphion Argon one speakers. They are in the same price range. Bower & Wilkens 606 or 707 don’t match at all, that can I say for certainty. You must try out different speakers and hear what’s is sounding good for you. I had the previous model and liked it but it was out of date. Greetings, Ludo Belgium

A few videos ago you mentioned you had an M-CR611 in for repair... I guess it couldn't be repaired? I also had an M-CR611 repaired (in the GTA) and 6 months later it's on the fritz again. I'm not sure I could ever buy a Marantz anything again. Even so, the functionality and sound of this latest model was tempting. I just don't think $1000 every 4 years is a good way to go.

It's funny that I found someone selling this locally near Montreal with Fyne Audio F-301's for $585 and then I find your review first! And I see that you actually meant what you said about the F500's since they're on your desk, I wanted to ask if you have had to chance to test them with a good handful of amps/receivers and to know what your personal preferences are for best system matching since my current AVR doesn't cut it. I ask you because both you and Jay describe sound in terms I understand perfectly and you both generally steer very close to how I like my music to sound. I got the F501's to replace my Kef Q750's based on your review of the F500's and I got the IOTAVX stack and Elac UBR62's based on Jay's review to replace some decent monitor speakers I had, my life has been better ever since lol!

I own one of those Marantz...aside from the features i love the sound signature. Rich mids, no harsh trebles (crucial for me) and enough bass. I've never listened to the Mcr 611, how does this new iteration compare in terms of sound quality?

Hi, could I connect the Marantz Melody Movie M-ER803 to a large 7.1 amp (DSP A1 connected to tv and 7 speakers) to be used for CDs, DVDs and Bluerays? Is it a good option? Any advice appreciated.

I bought such a device 1.5 years ago. I connected a Monitor Audio Bronze Br5 Bi-Amping speaker to it. I use Lossless both on CD and USB, as well as Hi-Res. Satisfied. H/F and L/F are well separated. The middle is better and the stage. I compare it with the Pioneer 512 receiver + Pioneer speakers. Maranz is better!😊

The HEOS integration is what makes them future proof. If I do not buy an all in one active speaker, I will buy Marantz PM7000N.

Still, I would maintain separate for intensive CD playing (i.e. if you don’t it’s a nice convenience to have cd playing), because mechanical failure of entry-level stuff made me plentiful amp-wise, but no more CD or tape playing capable.

I’m considering this and the Denon N10.Thoughts? Great review, thank you.👍🏻

i had the denon n10 and have this marantz for 3 years now. I prefer the marantz because you can use banana plugs and it accommodates thicker cables. Also the Marantz has better midrange and sounds sweeter to my ears. And it is slightly more powerful.

is it to cheap for real european?

I've bought one about 2 months ago. Paired it with a shiny new set of Dali Spektor 2 speakers and my good old JVC subwoofer. Optical input 1 connects to my TV and Bluray drive.. The TV passes the Bluray drives sound through HDMI. Then Toslink. Optical input 2 connects to my Cambridge Audio CXNv2 streamer DAC Analog input has my MacBook Air connected to it, so I can stream movies and series from my networked storage. I love the little thing. The only thing I find less stellar is the TuneIn integration with HEOS. For this I really prefer the Cambridge's StreamMagic app. But streaming Tidal, Deezer and Qobuz (through StreamMagic) works perfectly fine. Roon also works, but only through AirPlay.

After 6 years my Mcr 611 is dead :(

Too bad this product is 2yrs old already. Would have been nice if it was reviewed earlier. Good review tho.

A new model hasn't been released yet. These products have quite a long life cycle. Marantz usually releases new models every 5-6 years 😀
