Very nice receiver, I had a Marantz back in the 80's it was HUGE! Excellent sound quality & it would not die, best thing is I sold it years later & got what I paid for it. Great video Dave.

Yes, it is very theoretical. "It looks fantastic"- yes it looks on paper, but how does it really behaves? Why e.g. HEOS app has so low rating? How does connectivity work with e.g. speakers? I can read specifications on some web side, I don't need audiobook for it.

I own the 'twin brother' from Denon (the Ceol N10). I'm very impressed with it, especially for the sound quality. By the way, the remote is identical!

@@luischung5277 I'm told sound quality wise they are the same. The Marantz supports bi-wiring and an extra pair of speakers. Other than that they've same specs!

I've bought one about two months ago. The silver/gold version. It has replaced my 20 year old Harman Kardon set in the living room. I've connected my Cambridge CXNv2 streamer digitally to it. My TV/BluRay to the other optical input. And my MacBook Air to the analog input so I can watch series which I have stored locally with sound coming from the Marantz. Speaker wise I've bought a set of brand new Dali Spektor 2's and I've reused my old JVC subwoofer. I'm very happy with the sound coming from it in my little apartments living room. HEOS is ok-ish. I'm not that fond of the TuneIn integration. It does support Tidal and Deezer, but it doesn't support Qobuz. Which I also have a subscription to. Apple Music plays nicely through AirPlay. I like the HEOS interface, but I prefer the functionality of my Cambridge's Stream Magic app. Roon can also access the Marantz, but only through AirPlay.

Hi there, I have Marantz M-CR612 for a while now and I just bought turntable (Audio-Technica LP60X) with a built in pre-amp and when I connect them there is no sound. I'm connecting it to the Analog In of the Marantz but nothing happens (Line Output is selected on the turntable). Do you have any suggestion what to do and how to solve this issue? Really enjoyed this video: Q: I have an existing Marantz PM6005 amplifier that i really enjoy so would not be making use of the speaker terminals on the M-CR612. In addition, standalone sub from BK is connected through the PM6005 speaker terminals with the main fronts. Instead, with this unit i would propose connecting the Audio RCA on the M-CR612 to the 'CD' RCA on the PM6005. Any downsides to doing this?

I have not tried the Pioneer but was very impressed with this. For speakers I always check out KEF.

Recently came into a pair of Totem Acoustics "Mite" bookshelf speakers; 8ohms and power recommendation of 20-80 watts. Familiar with totems, and would this unit work?

Couple of questions. You mentioned amazon alexa built in. Can it be turned off. Completely. I can't find such things in manual and I don't want that botnet spying on me. Can alarm clock use USB as source? Also, I have microlabs solo 9c. It does not have speaker connectors like other speakers. Would "audio out" of this thing work with those speakers? Oh, and does it have mode where it just shows time on screen?

Hello, I have the 611 and love it. The only niggle I have is airplay it tends to kick out my MacBook more than phone also once it does this I need to do quick set up to reconnect. Not sure if it’s just my model or any advice to fix it would be great. You’ve probably worked this out now but the problem turning on due to optical on tv. Set sleep timer and it’ll turn of at set time when no sound is playing. Thanks Any

@@geekanoids I found it: "A" conection and select "Parallel BTL".... let me show you: Use the parallel BTL function to drive the speakers for each channel via the 4 amps built into this unit and realize sound quality with damping force. Select “Parallel BTL” from “Speaker Configuration” - “Amplifier Mode” in the settings menu. (User manual) Thanks Geekanoids!!!

Just to let any prospective purchasers know that Marantz informed me that the Melody X only uses TuneIn as the internet radio platform. This differs from previous Melody models which used VTuner and potentially has access to more stations. For example TuneIn can no longer access Sky Radio and a number of other stations are blocked or unavailable on this platform. Does anyone know any other way to access these stations on this unit?

Hi I really like this unit and wondered if you would be so kind as to help me in to arranging an audio set up. I was looking at this compact Marantz melody unit and the Q Acoustic 3030i speakers. I have an audio Technica AT-LP120XTB-USB turntable with bluetooth. Would this be ok together and if not what would I need to get it right I am new to any audio set up of any description and want to get it right Thank you

That sound like a really good setup. Also consider some QED Silver speaker cables too.

I'm having a problem connecting Bluetooth from my phone to m-CR612 any suggestions done the main things still no luck

I would highly suggest going with Klipsch speakers or their heracey / cornwalls 💯 They sound fantastic ( but are a bit pricey) but if you can afford them I say they are definitely worth the money 👍

Can I hook these up to 8ohm speakers? I have Kef q150's but don't have space for an avr or 2 channel receiver.

@@geekanoids Hi Geekanoids i bought the Marantz x m-CR612 and you cant pair the headphones but to get round this problem i bought the ELEGIANT wireless audio receiver transmitter just plug it in the headphone socket and pair the two it works a treat paired Amazon Alexa as well its brilliant chuffed to bits great buy highly recommended

QED Silver Anniversary is good.

I am appalled by the fact not a single review of the MarantZ M-CR612 mentions the lack of resume memory on the CD player. For any serious listener still using the shiny discs that's a deal breaker. Even Discmans have that feature. Not one reviewer, anywhere.

If he thinks it has some weight to it, he needs to go to a gym. I just got mine today. For the 699, it's surprisingly all plastic. A little disappointed. The CD player sounds great via headphones. I have both Sennheiser and B&O. Not sure about speakers yet. Either Focal 906 or B&W. I just do not see how it could possibly power 8 ohms given that it's quite light so it makes you wonder about the amp inside. So we'll see.

I'm disappointed with the tuner as it is very slow to change radio channels. It takes a long 5-6 seconds to move from one channel to the next, FM DAB or internet. I contacted Marantz about this but they said it was normal and fell within acceptable limits. For the price I paid, I'm not impressed with that performance. For radio lovers it's very annoying. My cheap Philips micro hifi changes FM stations instantly.
