To remove those stickers on plastic containers, take a hairdryer & heat the sticker & they after maybe 20 secs, they will pull right off

Ps soapy water takes labels off effortlessly as well , also the hairdryer heat will either remove stickers or helps stick the sticky back paper on or off 👍

UV light exposure is why the clear rubber bands turned yellow. It is a chemical reaction as the UV light breaks them down. Clear glass may not be the best storage.

I think some people are against the term 'junk draw' because it encourages people to just leave literal junk there but I think most people do have this concept whether they call it junk draw, utility draw, miscellany draw, etc. Your 'junk draw' doesn't look like a 'junk draw' and you say you use the items all the time so I am sure it would classify more as a utility draw or miscellany draw for the junk draw nay-sayers.

I don’t like junk drawers because they stress me out and I can’t see what’s in them unless I actively go in there so might lose stuff. At the very least I don’t like it in the kitchen if we need to have one But I have misc bins all over for us to throw things in until we can take time to go through them. Especially since my house is full of neurodivergent people lol we don’t always have the drive to put it away

I had to smile and chuckle over your thoughts while going through your little ones. Deciding what to keep, donate, throw away, rethink, dealing with the emotions you feel, we all have felt. I am 72 and there were just a few items believe it or not, that I had to deal finally for the last time two years ago. I had a baby blanket my mom made. It didn’t look pretty, it was one of the first blankets my mom knitted when she was just learning to knit. Over the years there were times I felt guilty even thinking about throwing it away. My mom died in 2010 and my son is not sentimental nor is his wife. I finally did toss it and there are tears as I write and recall the moments. My son had a Raggedy Andy stuffed soft doll that he dragged around with him wherever he went. He got holes which my mom and I sewed to hold the stuffing from falling out. Occasionally I would pull it out to touch it, it was too dirty to display but I could never part with it. One day I mentioned it again to my son and he softly scolded me again for holding on to it, telling me how he sure would never want it. He was 50 at the time and I had to finally come to the understanding that he was right and I should get a “grip” and release it into the trash dumpster. I honestly wish I had just buried him. A year or so later I tossed the blanket. There are just some things that only a mother can understand. Now the continual mission of searching and locating missing socks made me chuckle. I remember my “friend”, the author, Erma Bombeck. Now she could write a whole chapter, AND probably did in one of her books. She ran a daily article in our local paper and there were times I would call my mother to read it to her, laughing so hard the tears would be rolling down my face. She helped get me through many of the teenage years and talking about her husband and the institution of marriage. She might have saved my marriage too, or at least made it a little easier getting through another day. My loving husband is 88 now, and our blended family met 46 years and we married 42 years ago. We have survived and lived through many things, including an ambulance ride where they were using paddles on him while he was going through a heart attack. Those blood clot busting meds they have work wonders and those balloons they install are nothing short of a miracle, AND believe it or not, my husband was just yesterday looking for one of those missing socks!! We lose track of how many grandchildren we have, it gets too complicated with the yours, theirs, and whose? so it’s easier to count great grandchildren! We have 3 of those! Unfortunately they are all scattered in 3 states and as far as we’re concerned, they live too far away! The important thing is that they are all happy and we all love each other very much. I enjoyed your videos and learned some tricks on organizing. It sounds like your home is filled with love. That’s the most important thing. May you have many more years of holding on to those items you cherish, and when you decide to toss something, take a picture of it so you can always look back on it with glassy eyes and a smile. ❤❤

Some of us just have to hold onto thing u til we’re sure we’re ready to let it go. There’s nothing wrong with that. Some people call us hoarders, but it’s not hoarding if it sentimental or really cool stuff 😊

@@MakeuplovecultureThere's always the memory box for very special items. I'm all for that, I guess keeping sentimental stuff just must not turn into an excuse to keep/hoard everything! That's why it's a memory box/bin and not a shed 😅 (I had a very hard time letting things go)

I had some very sentimental things and tried to pass them down but to my regret young people today just don't get it! I think they discarded it after a time I never saw them use the outfits which were expensive! Even to just take a photo of the next generation with that outfit on! Oh well! I should have kept them for myself! One was a beautifuf Christining outfit, never saw it again and of course they bought their own. I once heard them say they could never even wear jewerly from the past (or Dead person) That makes me sad since the pieces I offered where from Great Great Granmothers etc. Beautify pieces very expensive, even if they only kept a piece to sell if times got tough! But no thanks they don't want it! They don't cherish memories like we do!

I put shelf risers on top of cookie sheets/jellyroll pans to store things in deep under-counter cabinets. Then, when I need something to the back, I pull the tray out. This especially comes in handy with the bottom shelf.

I also like seeing that you move stuff around multiple times during the process. I’m trying to get organized and I’ve been feeling like I’m spending too much time because I am moving and removing things. It will be great when I find the right place…. The "junk" drawer in my tiny place is only 5' wide lol I have always used peanut butter jar lids for the tiny things, and the tiny snack and craft containers from the dollar store work as well. The clear or semi-opaque lids from Bath and Body Works body sprays are great as well. My place is handicapped accessible, which means it has no cupboards or shelves below counter.

Just an idea you can store your extra makeup in your purses to get them out of your bathroom. I hung up hooks on inside of my bedroom closet door for my dressy purses i got clear vinyl makeup bags and separated makeup so all lipsticks together all eyeshadow and so on then place in the purses. This is perfect for makeup you don't use regularly and purses you dont use often. Make-up safe from steam and germs and more room in the bathroom. You can keep every day Make-up in bathroom or in your every day purse in a makeup bag.

Tip for fridge: use a dry or wet erase marker on leftover container. If something has a date longer than 1 week ago, I don't even look or smell, I just toss it out and clean the container. Also, use permanent marker to write the date you open condiments. This happens a lot for me with broth. I open it, use half the container, then don't remember how long it's been in there.

Thank you so much for reiterating that the inside of your cupboards don’t have to look perfect and that everything doesn’t have to match… makes you seem more authentic! My kids are grown, but I wanted to let you know when they were little I had a separate cabinet in the kitchen. It was very narrow, I believe called a chimney chest and it contained a lot of the kids bowls cups etc. on the bottom shelves that they could reach and access themselves versus having to always ask mommy or getting on a stool. . I think we purchased it on the side of the road from Amish people and it is beautiful and has been such a great find.

Yeah, the junk drawer is just the utility drawer, so no biggie. I had a miscarriage too and then we had our little miracle, then bc of Endo stage 4 I had to have a hysto and that was the end of our family plan. Bc of all this I had a really hard time getting rid of any of my son's things and tried to purge as much as I could, but I still had two huge bins in our garage of clothes at different ages up to the age of 6-7. I had finally decided to give them up and they were all in good selling condition. I also had a drawer at the bottom of his bed that was full of some of the pieces that I wanted to keep, his baby blankets, baby socks and shoes, some of clothes, and all the T-shirts that we had collected along the way and we were on the verge of making into a quilt for his HS grad present. Unfortunately all of it got ruined when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston and our house got hit with 4 feet of water. We were lucky to come out of it ok with our two cats, but the things that hurt the most to lose were my son's momentos, my parents' bible that they passed down, the bottom half of my scrapbook and jewelry workshop room that got washed away. I know things can be replaced, most of my kitchen and bath items were replaced, and some we didn't even need to replace, but my scrapbook and jewelry workshop items I had been collecting for over 15 yrs so some of them were irreplaceable. Thanks for sharing all of your great ideas!!!

I haven’t found a cabinet door organizer that wouldn’t damage it or leave marks. Command Strips can cause damage! I made the mistake of thinking they don’t. So if you have super expensive custom cabinets, I’d not use those products. Hopefully if you have custom made, your cabinets have built in organization! 😊

Plastic yellows when the polymers react to either light or moisture. If you are keeping the elastics in a bright space or in natural light, start storing them somewhere darker. Or if the space has a lot of moisture like a bathroom keep them in an airtight container.

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried lining refrigerator shelves and drawers with Glad Stick and Seal. I’m thinking it could be removed and shelves relined when time for clean up - saving steps (and energy) where possible. Maybe it’s a more appealing idea as I've gotten older and the “gymnastics” of this project is harder to perform.

I tried the press n seal, it didn't stick to the glass shelves. Maybe it's bcs they are cold. And yes it was gymnastics getting it in. I left it for now, but won't use it again 😢

Omg ! That lazy Susan is worth it. Love the back shield that keeps it all from falling out which is my current situation. My kitchen is tiny a nook really. I'm Italian and love to cook . So it's challenging but ty for so many great ideas .My bathroom is awful i bought an over the door shelf system that is really for a pantry and it helps alot as i dont even have a medical cabinet. I also purged and only buy as needed now.

How ridiculous anyone would ever comment on a junk drawer! I just don't understand what has happened to people?!? I'm so jealous of your drawers... I'm living in a retirement community and our apartment is a two room with a kitchenette. I have One drawer! A few smaller cabinets, no stove and a tiny refrigerator! I thought it would be great, because they serve food three times a day. NOPE The food is terrible It's very unhealthy It's terrible So I'm trying to cook without a kitchen!!! It sucks We're trying to move Finding a place we can afford isn't going well 😰 Some things that have helped me is I reuse containers for other things. Like the large top from a cake purchased from a store, flip it over and you have a container! I've made small garbage cans from thicker white paper bags from the pharmacy!! They are perfect for the bathroom and bedroom.. just put in a plastic bag... Boom it works... And no one has know lol I did give in a bit box's with handles for the one deep cabinet because I just couldn't get stuff out of it!

I have only 2 drawers (both small) and I have a junk drawer. It has candles, light bulbs and corn on the cob holders in it right now. The other drawer has my cutlery in the front and plastic cutlery in the back of it. I use 3 plastic skinny baskets from the dollar tree because the drawers are so small width that no tray will fit! I have my small spoons with my coffee maker & accessories.

I thought everyone had a junk drawer? lol I have a large home office that was actually the master bedroom and a large garage. Still gotta have my junk drawer. Sharpies to mark bags for the freezer, batteries. Coupons, food menu for our favorite places, flashlight, extra screws or what I call moms tool box. Basically small screw drivers, Allen wrenches and a small hammer that I have used to build furniture or to change batteries for toys.
