Perfect sketchbook for my Micro Pocket Painter!

Bought this first without thinking. Then thought, crap, what if I made a mistake. So I went round looking, saw this video (actually sat back and relaxed) and felt my anxiety ease away. Thank you for the review!

I have a few sketchbooks 4”x4” I just love them for carrying around or coming up with big ideas in a thumbnail kinda way.

For swatches 140gsm is not enough. I recommend you 270gsm or 300

i'm enjoying mine, half way through using it for botanicals, landscapes and abstract doodles, watercolour, inktense, water soluble graphite pencils, hard pastels, fountain pen ink, gouache, fine liners, coloured pencils, normal graphite sketches, brushpens.

I have an illo sketchbook in the same size and I mostly sketch in it when I’m feeling depressed or sad and just scribble and honestly I’ve never finished a sketchbook but because it’s so small im halfway so I can’t wait to finish it

Hello Mister Niaz Hannan! Haaa.... I see that you have tasted the pleasure of working on a Royal Talens Art Creation Sketchbook, what an excellent idea! For my part, I use them a lot too! they have an excellent quality/price ratio and are very versatile. I like I also like being able to choose the format that I want (I have somes formats: i have Five sketchbook (2 Blue, 3 Yellow, 1 Pink Pastel and of 13 Cm on 21 Cm, One Big Sketchbook Blue of 21 Cm on 29.7 , and One Tiny sketchbook Pink of 12 Cm on 12 Cm ) ... Anyway, i love them! ha!ha!ha! I know they're not really designed for working with wet watercolor techniques, but I love doing them. I also noticed that these sketchbooks don't like inks as : Colorex, Herbin, Sennelier Inks and Alcohol Markers (it pierces the paper!) .... Apart from that, thank you very much for this very pleasant Artistic Video! Bravo! Kind Best Regards your,

Niaz Hannan Watercolors The tubes are definitely better in my experience. They even rewet better that my half-pans.

You're paintings are really beautiful to look at it. I have the sketchbook of the same size, I guess the brand is different. It's Menorah Creatif I guess. It's literally the best for watercolor paintings. I usually work on watercolor paintings and I travel a lot, so chose a sketchbook which would look handy like the one in the video.

This is soooo weird. I found these sketch books in a local shop where I live yesterday. Not seen them before. Not a great lover of cream paper. Prefer white. But maybe I might get one and see. Thanks Niaz very timely. Bx

Wow! You created an amazing piece. This is one the cheapest sketchbook in europe. I would not advise it to a beginner for watercolor painting. You did a great because you know how to control water and how much paint you should use. I would say canson xl or montval great papers( 300 gsm) Any beginner might enjoys the result. They are inexpensive and made for watercolor. I use this sketchbook for Gouache, it works pretty good for quick sketches.

I used to draw/sketch in 9"x12" sketchbooks but I drew small things and left the rest of the page blank. I always felt like I was "wasting paper". So I switched to 3"x5" sketchbooks and filled the whole page. After this video I might have to step up to 5"x5" sketchbooks.

I bought this over 2 years ago and still haven't filled it. I did some watercolour paintings in it, but had to go easy on humidity. I prefer using it now to practise drawing or pencil value studies for paintings I then do on proper watercolour paper.

This is beautiful. I love the art creation sketchbooks, although I can’t do anything as amazing as this. But would have been an even better video without that fast paced musical choice. Stupid to complain about that. I mean it as constructive….your art, is absolutely beautiful.

Yes its smooth as its cartridge paper

But it did buckle... A lot! 2.23 while you were painting the sea and the beach. After drying it was still lightly buckled. Could you please mention what paper it is?

Obviously it buckles coz its not watercolor paper(every paper does that atleast a bit)..its cartridge paper

Niaz Hannan Watercolors Paper tooth refers to paper’s roughness. I don’t know where the name comes from 😄 Rough paper like pastel paper has a lot of tooth so the pigments stick better to the paper and allows more layers

I don't like 140gsm for watercolour painting even though with light layers the paper is quickly wavy when wet. Better for dry or oily pencils.

@@niazhannanwatercolors congratulations 🎉 but you are not me as well as you are not of a lot of watercolorists who could feel limited by the paper quality. I think newspaper is better with inks isn't it. Also not any newspapers are good enough because some have their ink fusing badly with watercolor. With some papers it can be tricky and limited. In France supplies shops as well as on Amazon there is 250gsm square sketchbook : . Red Cover: Paint On, raw grain , white, . Cover Blue: Paint On white with grain, . Beige cover: natural Paint On, . Anthracite cover: Paint On grey, . Black cover: Paint On black. . Acid free . Excellent absorption capacity and possible repentance. . 32 sheets - 64 pages Good too know ! I was never disappointed with Clairefontaine.
