Wrong. Did you not pay attention? Archimedes constructed the dial so that it always brought the “user” back to him. It was not because of continental drift, though it was a savvy thought by Indy.
I actually figured out Mutt died at the start of the movie. As the camera is panning around Dr Jones' room in 1969, you can see a folded American flag next to a military photo of Mutt Williams in a Marine Corp uniform. I knew they usually gave those types of flags during funerals, so I figured he had to have died during the war in Vietnam. And hence why Marion left Indy.

Those 15 minutes set in 1944 were so great it felt like an hour long movie, the pacing and everything was handled so well. Which honestly is my only complaint about the rest of the movie, was the pacing. It felt too quick to me, but we needed an Indie that time traveled imo, it's about the only thing he hasn't done until now.

James Mangold said in an interview (@ star wars celebration) that he modeled his directing approach from Spielberg's directing style for the first 15 min. of the movie. So, you can credit him for the first 15 and blame him, and everyone else for the rest of the movie.
I noticed Marion was wearing a tiny medallion of what she had in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
When I saw the movie 10 days ago, I picked up on all of the callbacks to the previous movies, and I loved them. I loved the movie. I can't wait to get the movie on dvd and add it to my collection with the other 4.

The only thing I don't get about the ending of dial of destiny is that archimedes uses Indy's arrival to complete the settings on the dial, but he said it was of because of continental drift? Did he tell archinedes about CD?
In the movie I thought Indy rode a horse past the astronauts that landed on the moon during the parade
Listen, you can see the reference to the kid's death in the beginning of the movie, the camera in 1969 passes Mutt's photo and the folded flag. For me it was a direct sign of what had happened: the kid was a passed hero. But, maybe you missed this?
This movie was Great! It might not be Raiders or Crusade, but it’s a hell of a lot better than Crystal Skull (although I did enjoy that movie aswell) and has some nice nostalgic moments that gives it vibes from the Trilogy, and as a massive Indy fan I think it’s a nice send off for one of Ford’s most iconic & beloved character roles. Certainly a fun watch, with quite a bit of heart to it. “It’s not the years, honey. It’s the mileage.”

One thing that is bugging me is that Helena obviously does not understand the timetraveling. She takes Indy back, so that he does not disturb the past. However, they come from a future were the past has already played out, as can be seen with the watch in archimedes grave. Therefore it does not make a difference, wether Indy stays in the past.
The ending was perfect.

Muff getting killed in Vietnam would mean that he volunteered since the first draft was in December 1969. Considering Muff was about 20 in 1957 he would have volunteered in the late 50's or early 60's. From 1956 -1963 there were 195 US casualties in Vietnam. Are we to believe Muff was one of the 195 US casualties? That seems hard to believe especially since he and his dad appear very hard to kill. He would be more likely to be killed riding his motorcycle than in Vietnam.
he also went to tangier during the first ww1 as a spy.
I enjoyed the film, it was very nice to see Ford again in action in 2 times. And, creators clearly show us that this is the end, as you cannot get back in time and return something, it will go wrong anyway. I think this was a great last chord in the symphony called Indiana Jones.

Helena, on the other hand, has a lot of potential. She'd be an interesting main character, and there'd be plenty of opportunities for her to pay a quick visit to Indy and his collection.
I always liked Indiana Jones because of its faith. It was respectful of goodness, and the importance of family.
This movie screams suspension of disbelief from jumping off a moving train into a river to surviving an eel attack underwater. You can shoot an arrow at a moving airplane and make a direct kill. 😂
Yeah! I didn't know about Ingruber! That guy is amazing as Indy! Please Lucasfilm, a new film saga / series with Ingruber as a young Indy is the best thing that could happen
I dont know where to start but Easter egg : When helena took a close look on the (archimedes) tomb’s frieze and indy said “its a phoenix” and helen replied “ it has propeller?” soooo you know the twist right? the plane they flying is actually the phoenix with propeller 😂 what a coincidence
The continental drift thing was bogus. 2000 years of continental drift would not be noticable on a map. Continental drift also does change coordinates (unless the Alexandrine coordinates Voller requested are based strictly on land? Which, if so, I dont think the writers would know.) Its annoying that they used a real thing incorrectly to create tension and suspense in the moment.
When Indy was riding the motorcycle towards the train...you can hear John Williams old song from The last crusade when Indy was going after the tank. I was like...oooh listen it's the original song from the tank scene in TLC. LOL 😆
It was never explained how Voller knew the god daughter was tricking him when she said Archemedes' tomb was in Alexandria. Next thing you know, Voller shows up after them in Sicily. How did he know they tricked him, and to follow them elsewhere? I think this was definitely an oversight or perhaps a cut scene which led to the vagueness.

I don't understand how continental drift affects time. In theory he might show up at a different location but shouldn't go back to 200 BC. The script has serious flaws in physics. I'd love to see Voller go back to 1939 to change history instead of witnessing the Siege of Syracuse.

Awesome to see Anthony Ingruber playing double for young Indian Jones in the 1944 flashback at the beginning of the film! You can tell it is Ingruber because he has a subtly crooked smile. He was great in The Age of Adeline playing a young Harrison Ford, and we were all completely robbed when he wasn't chosen to play Han Solo in the Solo: A Star Wars Story movie. That movie bombed because they didn't listen to the Star Wars fans who wanted Anthony Ingruber to play the part..!!

Sigh. Why is it so difficult for anyone English-speaking to understand that the German "V" is prnounced like the English "F".. as in "Fun"? So "von Braun" is pronounced "Fun Braun" (whih hopefully makes you smile" and "Voller" is "Foller" (I am not even asking you to learn how to pronounce "ö"correctly, though that would be "eh", so "Voller" would actually be something like "F-eh-ller") Perhaps it is because I personally speak/read/write 4 languages (Danish, English, German, French) and understand and read Dutch and a few words in Russian, Swedish, Norwegian, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Kurdish, Czech, and Tagalog. While I love the English language, I do not understand why English-speaking natives do not even try to make an effort with other languages. Laziness perhaps?
