@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL Honestly my Cormorant has been performing wonderfully good! The only reel i compare it to is the Aldebaran BFS. Smoothness when retrieving, built quality is solid. Very nice BFS reel worth every penny 🤙🏼

@BFS_Fishing hey bfs! Yea, that’s exactly my assessment as well. Casts better out of the box than the alde, smoothness is on par if not better, and just a pleasure to fish with. None of the finnicky casting tendencies of the Aldebaran. Cheers my friend!

@@BFS_Fishing hey bfs! Yea while the Haibo/ark is a nice reel this feels like it’s on a whole different level. Imho, this is my favorite reel for 2024 so far. This reel is what the kingfisher should have been. It gives the Aldebaran and the SS air tw a run for their money. Really surprised at how good it is. Cheers my friend!

I see that Coike Shrimp. Stellar little soft plastic!! Love them. Cormorant is one of my favorite reels as well. Very productive setup you’ve got going on there!!

Hey 606! Yea the shrimp really works! @themultispeciesangler gets the credit for putting me onto this lure. Produces when everything else fails at my crazy overpressured park lake haha 😆. As far as the cormorant is concerned, yea I think that ffftackle really hit it out of the park with this reel. The kingfisher was good but this reel, imho, is a better alternative to the jdm 22’ Aldebaran bfs and the 23’ SS air tw which is kind of crazy to say… Super smooth and has all of the really great features that I loved about the kingfisher with a really nice sounding drag clicker. It’s pretty awesome to see manufacturers listening to what their consumers actually want while making improvements. Thanks so much for commenting and cheers my friend!

So given the improvements, does the Cormorant cast any better or further than the less expensive Kingfisher?

Hey Eric! It casts lower weights better and further while being smoother and having a drag clicker. This is what the kingfisher should have been. The kingfisher is still a good reel but this is what I’d recommend to people over the Aldebaran and SS air tw even. They did a really good job on this reel and it’s awesome to see that they listened to what people wanted. My only gripe is the price… Cheers my friend!

Hey Eric! Haha I know… a Chinese product better than the venerable japanese?!?!?! He must be insane to say so! Yea, I will plead insanity and say that this is better, imho, than the alde 22’ and the SS air tw. Is it leaps and bounds better? No but it will definitely hang with those reels and get you to cast lower weights at a cheaper dollar amount. With the alde, to cast under 1g, you need to buy an aftermarket spool and it comes with no warranty. With the SS air tw you have a much higher initial buy in amount and you need to add 0.2mm worth of shims to get it to cast under 1g. The cormorant casts that weight out of the box and comes with a warranty(let me just preface this by saying I don’t care for warranties as I prefer to troubleshoot and maintain reels myself but since it has one I might as well mention it). Smoothness of all three reels is amazing with the cormorant being the smoothest imho. They did a really good job on this reel and I wasn’t expecting to be impressed but I definitely am now. Crazy… Cheers my friend!

And what is better? Cormorant or Silver Feather for under 1 gr?

Hey Antin! From my testing I’m gonna have to say that the cormorant seems to cast just ever so slightly better than the Silver Feather. The Silver Feather is no slouch though. I think the cormorant is definitely more of a premium product and more refined than the Silver Feather but the Silver Feather is a great option if you want a no fuss casting reel. Hey Antin! I’ll have an unbox of the rod soon. It’s a 4 piece travel rod by Tsurinoya meant for trout fishing. It can cast down to 0.56g, has a MF/F bend( closer to MF), and is extremely lightweight 66g. Quite a fun rod to use! Cheers my friend!

I have 3 dragon 2.0 rods from tsu 53, 60 and 66. Very love them but 53 is the best for stream fishing.@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL

Hey Antin! I gotta figure out how to find comments that I haven’t responded to… KZread oddly is good at letting me know of new comments posted but if there’s a reply within a comment I don’t seem to get notified… found this by happenstance… anywho, yea Tsurinoya makes really good quality rods and for good prices. I haven’t had any issues with any of my Tsurinoya rods and I’ve had a few now; elf trout, elf ajing, dragon2 662UL, and now this intruder 534ul. All have been really great rods that perform well above their prices. I tend to love shorter rods 5’ and under or at the other end 7.5’ and above. 6’ just seems like Jack of all trades, master of none status to me but everyone has their different needs and this is just my personal tastes. This intruder rod will be replacing a jdm rod I have from fishman. Cheers my friend!

@@MrAntinsk8 hey Antin! Hmm… I’m not sure why KZread is erasing your comments… it’s odd though because there’s not really a notification for replies to comments that I’ve replied to. I really don’t understand why that’s the case… as far as your question goes here is my assessment. Please bear in mind that these assessments are so subject that it’s really hard to translate what a rod feels like to another person. However, if I were to compare this to say that it has more backbone than the glassfin, and the creek dance and about the same as the 562 ag venom rod. The action, under casting loads, is a MF/F, but then, under load, turns into a medium. I’m confident that the rod will handle a 500g, approx 1lb, fish in fast current however the fish may feel larger than 500g though due to the MF/M action of the rod. I think maybe in the future it might be good to show how the rod loads in relation to a slowly increasing weight? I’d have to come up with some sort of setup to show this though… Hope that helps explain the rod a bit better! Cheers my friend!
