    It would be interesting to see how they compare in efficiency using the same amount of coals. Using the Deluxe in a 26 it would seem the air gap between the Deluxe metal surface and the kettle's inside surface would act as an insulation layer improving efficiency.

    Nice review. Have a question. I have Weber 22" premiere and WSM 22. As it stands how, I fire up my smoker to smoke the steaks for around an hr. than place on direct charcoal heat on the Premiere for Sear. Could i use the SnS deluxe to both slow smoke and also than sear? Assuming I can. Just curious how that would work. I would want to throw on some Oak/Cherry chunks of wood for flavor. Also, would the drip n griddle pan be of use during this process?

  • @Viewtoagrill

    @Viewtoagrill

    4 жыл бұрын

    If I understood the question correctly... yes. Just start out with 1/2 filled slow n sear with a few wood chunks for the smoke... and then smoke for however long you like. Have a half filled chimney starter of charcoal lit and ready to go.. when it is time for the sear pour the lit charcoal in and put your grate back on and sear away!... hmm this would actually be a great video... thanks for the idea!

    Good comparison of the two. I still would take the SnS XL over the Deluxe for the 26er though. You're not really gaining any usable space by choosing the deluxe over the XL in a 26er. The XL also fits the contour of the kettle and holds about 20 more briquettes than the deluxe with the water trough in. Of course that is assuming you could afford the difference in price. Something that is not mentioned on their site and I am curious about is the difference in lit charcoal needed for the XL in the 26er vs the deluxe in the 22. For example, they say to use 12 lit briquettes and 1 full chimney of unlit for low and slow on the 22. For roasting temps its a half chimney of lit. Would it be the same amounts of coal with the SnS XL in the 26er? That would be a good comparison video.

  • @Viewtoagrill

    @Viewtoagrill

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Edward! You are correct the deluxe does not fit in the 26 as well. I just wanted folks to know that if you had a 26 and 22 inch kettle that the deluxe would work for both if you were on a budget. And yes , that is a great idea for a video. Thanks for the suggestion.
