Great show guys, really enjoy seeing though Hugh eye. Keith you have fish Fort Peck lake in Montana. I was wounder what you have to say about this lake seeing as water level can change by 30 feet in a year. I live in Billings. I am thinking that it would be best to use electronics to locate fish before wetting a line, any information you can give will be great. Respectfully Leon US Navy RET.

Yes you are correct that a little scouting will help you put fish in the boat. Look for the warm water then you will find the bait fish and then the fish. Wind blown shores collect the heat so focus on shorelines that all the bait fish get stacked up on.

No bait needed. It's a reaction strike. They see it fall and bounce up trigger them to bite. Fish a little slower in early spring as fish are still cold and lethargic. If that does not work go shallow slowly fishing crank baits or jig and minnow by feeder creeks and / or rock points. If weeds are not growing yet those fish are up shallow for post spawn. If weeds are growing then they are deeper. Usually thats my quick tip to know depth of fish.

I see you are tying directly to the bait. Can you use a quick snap instead for easy lure change outs? Is there a detriment using a snap?

The lure tangles too easily with a snap when casting. It would be OK if you where just fishing vertically.

@@ThenextbiteTvShow what about hooks, what size hook are you replacing the originals with, #4 or #6

We use the standard hooks that come with shiver minnow when vertical jigging. But casting sometimes we need bigger #4 hooks and now we switched to using the new Berkley Fusion 19 Treble hooks www.berkley-fishing.com/berkley-terminal-tackle-hooks-berkley-fusion19/berkley-fusion19-med.-shank-ewg-treble/1509830.html#q=treble&start=1
