Keith visited my bakery shop, we had a conversation about sour dough bread, and he complimented us all on the quality and variation of our range. It was a huge honour he made everyones day. There will never be another Keith Floyd, he really was an exceptional personality and chef.
Rest in peace He will remain in our memory as one of the greatest TV chef a wonderful human being and nice character

*almost cries; this was the very first episod i'd ever seen of someone cooking on television, I didn't know those bricks were red!! I watched it on an eighteen inch CRT television. ( ithought the crock-pot thingy was a sort of grey...)

Yes. But wrong about not salting before seared.
Keith reminds me of days off school when I was sick and I got to lye on the couch and watch day time tv. I just remember being enthralled by his personality and cooking What a legend God bless you Keith

You might of learned more on those days than a whole year in school.
I worked at The Red Lion Inn 1993-1994 and the Ferry Boat Inn 1994-1995 in Dittisham, Devon, which is a couple of villages along the Dart from Tuckenhay where his pub was. When I was at the Red Lion I heard so many stories from the locals moaning about him. The favourite seemed to be him charging for Heinz Beans on Toast (£5.99 or something - a bargain now!). People forget that 'Floyds Inn.. Sometimes' (the Maltsters Arms) was really the beginning of the gastro pub, and people now think nothing of paying waaaay over the odds for simple food. The woman I dated most of my time in South Devon went down to the pub once with a load of friends and local woman dressed as vikings to complain his comments about him!!!! I went down there in my first few weeks and introduced myself - Shaunagh's mother worked behind the bar (and a fine woman she was) and introduced me to Keith. He really was a pioneer, in everything he did, but goodness as with most true renegades, his life was a (self confessed) mess. I never missed his show - the Stranglers music, the bon vivant, the raffishness, and most importantly front and centre, the food that always miraculously turned out wonderful. A fascinating man who I doubt ever asked for any pity.

What a legend. RIP Keith Floyd ❤️
The fact he was blind drunk most of the time whilst being entertaining and also cooking wonderful food it's a testament to how good he was ,it's like me on a Friday night but I'm wondering if the kebab I just bought would be nicer with parmesian and wild mushrooms whilst peeing on the toilet seat
I so miss Keith and his cooking, fantastic man
Really interesting how far food has come, not browning the mushrooms etc, but his presentation style is just as fresh as when it was filmed
This guy is like the old supercar of celebrity chefs... Because they both drink too much and one wrong move will cause a huge crash, but both entertaining as hell for it.

My cooking hero!, such a nice guy,, Keith Floyd has influenced so many chiefs/restaurants in the U.K for a reason#nomnom
What a great chef and character, man of my own heart, I have fond memories of my parents watching him back in the 80s. There is a chef on KZread however, that in some ways reminds me of Keith, he's nothing like him really, he's a French/Italian retired chef who now has a channel which is absolutely fantastic. What reminds me of him is the same passion for cooking and is such a great character. Search for Chef Jean Pierre. You won't regret it, he's amazing to watch and the best teacher of cooking.
RIP Kieth you was the master of cooking entertainment

Keith is the King !
How old is he here? He was such a good man. I loved his mid morning drinks and great spirit.
KF will always be my inspiration in the kitchen. He was, in his prime, the man. RIP, Keef. X
Keith Floyd is where tv cookery and travel became merged and was fun to watch. Much imitated but never equalled. Mild mannered quick slurps
In Cyprus they used to eat the most meat in the world and my great grandfather lived to 114!
Floyd was a class act. He inspired me to be the chef I am today
I dont believe in heroes but keith was my one and only one met him in a market in Dijon he was so down to earth he appeared to be starstruck that someone took time to talk about other things to cooking, a wonderful man,
I learned everything about cooking from three people; My mother My Nana and Keith Floyd. R.I.P. Such edgy recipes, and SOOOOOO delicious!
The sound of that beef shin frying is making me feel very hungry!
Looks amazing
Loved the casual flip off when he presented the wine

@finesse150 By far, this is the best comment I've seen about comments. The "trolls" out there are powerful: Why try and spoil it for everyone when the subject is obviously a question of taste and preferences? Because it's fun... I say RIP Keith, and to everyone who might read this - try the recipe! Doing it is a floydian experience in itself.
I hate him for being the inspiration for me to enter the catering trade after leaving School many years ago, but I love him more because he inspired me to be the Chef I am, HIC. Great man and long may his memory and style survive x
He was articulate, we didn’t care about the food. ❤
“Trigs Potter” hahaha
Does anyone know if the early BBC Floyd programs will be released on DVD? The early BBC series like Floyd on Fish, Food, France, etc. It would be great if these will all be released. Those are my favorites. Maybe a campain should be started to get it all released on DVD?

R.I.P He really brought some fun to cooking in a time when everything was very grey. BIG Volumes of cookbooks that were hard to understand. His method just as a bottle or two of wine to it all

Ah, thats better. Thanks, I definitely only heard "trigs potter". lol
How long are you supposed to cook it for in the oven? And what gas number? Anyone know?
Damn, I'm hungry and thirsty now.
Yeah he enjoyed it, not wasted it. Always had his glass of wine with him
At what heat and for how long old chap!?? Any suggestions!? Slow cook,3hrs at 160!??
I make this one quite regularly. Some things I skip, like orange peel and cloves cause I'm sensitive to citrus and can't think of a place to use the actual fruit after peeling, and cloves cause... well, I don't like them. And pig feet I don't have access to. I also deglaze the pan to the pot cause that is a lot of flavour and add some root veggies, usually carrot for some sweetness. And last year I got myself a crock pot so I can now do a good 8 hour simmer for all to combine in peace. The basic ingredients of this recipe are still the same, as is how I do it. I've just nudged some elements to one direction or another. I've had 11 years to match it to my taste since this video was released on YT :D

❤
Sad he's gone. RIP
As a Keith Floyd fan I say Pete's Pans channel on KZread is close.
Pop it in the oven...how long? I'm using a slow cooker, so is 4 hours enough? Or should it be done till it's almost dry? Online I'm seeing varying times, some say 4, some say 6 and some 8 hours.

What is it that he put into the pot at 3:24? He says something like "trigs potter" but upon googling that hasn't turned up any results.
I miss his particular flair.
so we pour the sauce in like so. then we add the chopped tomato like that!!
Wow he owned a restaurant in his 20s brilliant man.
Rest in peace old boy, didn't mind having a poke at the veggie brigade in those happy days when no offence was taken.
I love to drink while I cook. Or is it the other way 'round?
Only half a bottle into ones self ? Really, dam I have been doing it wrong all my life !
I love watchimg this guy. But he had a problem with drink. If you went to one of his restaurants, you could always find him in the bar.

And yet he died of a heart attack .. and a month prior his liver function came back 100%. It was more than likely the ciggies that did for him not the booze.
@Daniel-jo2mc

But heavy drinking is a leading cause of heart attacks !...drink causes inflammation which in turn causes plaque build up , increases the red blood cells , making the blood thicker , strain on the heart, high blood pressure.
