it bothers me that this is the narrative, slipknot replaced joey when he got sick, and never spoke to him again, and then when he died, they acted like that never happened, and like he passed the torch to jay, that isnt what went down at all, the situation is so fucked up and they never did right by joey.

The 'Ballbag' nickname likely came from Spit It Out played at Knotfest Japan 2014 where Corey *did* refer to Jay as Ballbag before kicking back into the song. I distinctly remember laughing my ass off at that point in the video because it caught me so off-guard.

I couldn't agree more with Jay on his evolution of instruments. It's so hard to learn something that's supposed to be cool like guitar and have it feel like school. I watched KZread videos 10 years ago on songs I wanted to learn and if they were too hard, I just tried a different song until I found one that was within my skill. Then I'd come back to the harder songs a bit later. I got lessons after about a year, but it was so frustrating to be able to play recognizable and well liked songs, to struggling to read sheet music and play Mary had a little lamb. It ultimately started making me dislike the guitar. Fortunately my guitar teacher was a cool old head and recognized some three days grace songs I was playing, and I would teach him the songs, and we started jamming those together at the end of our lessons. I then told him I had no interest in reading sheet music and wanted to learn practical things that I can apply to what I can do now. He started showing me some pentatonic scales and we would spend lessons behind a drum machine, I would jam a rhythm, he would solo, and then we would swap. I really enjoyed that time together, albeit short. Once I fully fell in love with the instrument and spent a lot of time writing, I found the desire to do the hard stuff and push myself to be better, which I think would allow a lot of people who quit or are intimidated/bored by the theory and hard stuff. Just learn some easy, fun recognizable tunes. My first was Come As You Are, then Iron Man, Breaking The Law, Just Like You, Never Too Late, In Bloom, Animal I've Become, etc.

Jay Weinberg is now 100% my favorite drummer of all time. Such a great personality, and it blows my mind to know he learned drums without lessons. I've been playing for 3 years and haven't taken a single lesson outside of random stuff from drum videos and I think I'm making pretty good progress. It's good to know that's an option for those that just can't do lessons (I guess OG drummers had to learn without them, but I'm talking modern day lol)

Between my friend of the family Andy and my uncle Bruce, both taught me what they knew about playing guitar without being too terminal over it. They kept it balance between showing me tricks and styles, but also keeping it fun. I was only 11 at the time when I started learning guitar. I got my own at 13. And I will never forget what Andy told me, we can only show you the style and the reference, we cannot show you the soul or the feeling that you will develop for yourself.

I think instrumentally the new record is really good but the lyrics and vocal style really let it down. Corey’s constant “singy” choruses really were on basically ever song which kind of ruined it. I don’t mind it on a song here and there but it’s literally on every song now. Wish they’d go back to their more abrasive style they had in the first 3 albums but I get they have changed.

My friends in music have always tended to bash me for my formal music education. I think Jay touched on the key point people aren’t getting. Music requires passion and drive. It’s not about whether or not you should take lessons. I loved learning about theory and scales, but my music teacher said it’s always important to implement what theory you’ve learned in familiar songs. I learned some different songs I never would’ve learned on my own. I have friends that are extremely talented without a lesson in their life. Our similarities are our passion for music

Long story but cool story. My biggest regret in life is (im a sound tech so i work on shows), i was working on a slipknot show in 2019 in canada, and i saw jay a lot trough the day. As a professional, i dont ask for pictures and stuff like that... But im a huge slipknot fan. At some point he was 1meter from me and we nod. I should have asked lol. Thats the biggest regret in my career. At least, ive got some clow and tortillas baseball bats, stick drum, pick and others goodies since it was the last Show of the tour. They were throwing those stuffs in yhe garbage so... Fuck it i took them. Also, Jay seemed to be a really cool and down to earth guy. Like, even after all those shows, he was still that kid living his dream. He came on stage to see us work like 3 or 4 times in the pm, maybe he was preparing himself mentally, i dont know, but if i didnt know who he was i wouldn't know in the band at all. No diva or rockstar attitude at all. Just a normal cool guy, who is playing drums as a living. Actually he was the only members who showed up that early at the event and showed up on stage.. i saw nobody else from the band that day. I love that guy. Next time i will ask for a picture though lol.

An album (Latin albus, white), in ancient Rome, was a board chalked or painted white, on which decrees, edicts, and other public notices were inscribed in black. It was from this that in medieval and modern times, album came to denote a book of blank pages in which verses, autographs, sketches, photographs and the like are collected.[9] This in turn led to the modern meaning of an album as a collection of audio recordings issued as a single item.
