understandably so. I never expected for your daughter to become a full on metalhead, but it still funny to see the contrast with you at her side. and let me say this while I have the chance, I really appreciate what you're doing with them. not only you're showing them music, most probably they wouldn't even try to hear on their own (and some examples are "iconic music" like queen, led zeppelin, pink floyd and the like), most importantly you are sharing an activity with them, bonding through music. I had the best times of my life with my dad doing this exact thing. we created something special through music, and you are doing the same with your on

Same. One day, I was with my gf and i showed her some of my favorite songs (Slipknot, Nirvana, Megadeth, Iron Maiden...) and then she was like: hey im getting Bored, I dont like this kind of Music. That hurt me a lot.

What kind of jerk can be rude with her or her reactions? I'm a metalhead, I listen to a lot of heavy heavy stuff, but when I was her age I thought metal was just screaming and noise, and didn't like it either. Don't be rude with ppl who don't enjoy metal. If you're kind with her, she may give metal a chance and, who knows, be a metalhead in the future. P.D: I think she will enjoy Ghost. Songs like "Square Hammer" or "Dance Macabre" are very catchy for nonmetalheads. My mother like them hahahaha

I love seeing people experience slipknot 😂 (I also just miss concerts 😭) I saw Slipknot live for the first time in 2008 during Mayhem festival, I was 15! The music was insane and the crowd was even crazier, the guy next to me was lighting his hands on fire and there was so many mosh pits, and people ripping up the ground and throwing it everywhere! "Go drill your deserts - Go dig your graves" I think that part is talking about how America goes into other countries in the middle east where there are deserts and drill oil. "Then fill your mouth with all the money you will save". And about how much money they make out of stealing. First off, the actual lyrics do say Rain not reign. Corey Taylor himself said the song is about the government AND the military. When it says "And the rain will kill us all, we throw ourselves against the wall" he's talking about judgement day, and how then, everyone will know the truth about everyone, but at the same time everyone will have their backs to the wall because they don't want the truth about themselves to be revealed.

Nobody should be giving you hate for not liking this genre. It took a long time for me to even enjoy music, let alone metal. And even if you dont end up liking it, thats fine too, its not to everyones taste. Its the elitists that think they're right and everyone else has to be wrong. Its nice that you're giving it a chance regardless, I have a feeling it'll grow on ya!

The Punk Goes Pop albums might get her interest. Originally the first album called Punk Goes Crunk came out as a means for metalcore bands to have fun and be weird with famous pop songs of that year. Then the Punk Goes Pop albums followed and gained huge popularity by releasing a new album every year with that years top pop tracks that different bands covered. These albums helped metal heads and pop fans become interested in each other's music by bridging the gap and opening up people to other music. Some songs are: The Devil Wears Prada - Still Fly All Time Low - Umbrella Woe, Is Me - Last Firday Night T.G.I.F For All Those Sleeping - You Belong With Me The Word Alive - Heartless Issues - Boyfriend We Came As Romans - Glad You Came Crown The Empire - Payphone Memphis May Fire - Grenade We Came As Romans - My Love Go Radio - Rolling In The Deep Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! - We R Who We R I hope you see this and for the both of you to give it a shot!

I will say one issue with non-rock/metal fans is often the appreciation for instruments/instrumentals. I am confident in saying rock/metal and jazz music are some of the only genres I can think of where the fans genuinely pay strong attention to both vocals and instruments; that isn't to be egotistical and say I'm somehow better; nor dogmatic in preference. The point is I feel like with a lot of the more popular music I can still listen and identify instruments and be so engrossed in the instruments even if I'm not a huge fan of the vocals; where as a k pop fan may listen to a rock song, hate it but not appreciate the skill for the drumming or such. It's fine for people to not care a ton about the instrumental, I'm merely just pointing out a difference I tend to see. Still, love how she's honest about her views on different aspects of the music she is shown; it's better to be honest than to lie and be unenthusiastic. Of course we all prefer when she genuinely enjoys the song, e.g. Sound of Silence and Bad Wolves Zombie; but it's good to see that not everything is liked too~

Anyone being overly rude to you Miss Glitch,i`ll serve them a can of whoopass! Im pretty much a rock and metalhead, but even i dont get too involved in this song. I do appreciate bits and pieces in there though, like some guitar riffs are really good. We all have our music tastes. I never understood butchering people for liking the opposite then yourself. I loved how she started laughing though on being questioned on her honest opinion of the song/performance. "They gonna hate me if i say anything" kinda showed from her face. Positive that she takes it with abit of humor!

Des Moines, Iowa, Clown as a welder, Corey working in a porn shop, Mick as a kid hanging out in a guitar store, all the way up to what is now the Nine. Have you played Snuff for her? I'll be t she'd like it. Especially the live acoustic version when Corey breaks down in the middle of the song.

What's a substitute for saying screaming? I've listened to metal for a while and never though screaming was negative

Lol, I don't either. She is a tough sell. Have some Stone Sour coming out tomorrow to see how she does with Corey in his regular voice throughout an entire song, we'll see.

Slipknot definately an acquired taste lol. If she likes live performances then top 2 has to be Linkin Park- in the end 2017 Argentina, that crowd was epic. Also, LP's One More Light performance on Jimmy Kimmel live. Sang it the day Chris Cornell passed, hauntingly beautiful.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out their newer song unsainted. I think it would also be good to do one by stone sour for sort of the "other side" of Corey Taylor. As far as alternate terminology for screaming or normal voice, you can use unclean vs clean.

I’d love to see u show your daughter either the live version of “the devil in i” or the audio version (music vid is a bit over the top) or show her “all out life” By Slipknot 😂😂😂

As someone in the metal community, never ever feel like you can’t use your voice to share your opinions. That’s what this community is for! The people who take offense don’t truly understand the community and they are not the best example of members of the metal community. Metal is about having a voice and feeling like you have a place to belong, so your daughter isn’t wrong to want to share her own opinions. Not liking Slipknot isn’t such a big deal. Not liking metal isn’t the end of the world. She’s allowed to have her own opinions. This genre isn’t for everyone and that’s ok!

I've been watching this channel for a little while now because I enjoy the music selections. However, as someone that has worked with teens for over ten years, I feel like the message I get from the girl's body language is "I don't want to be here". Of course that could be explained by any number of reasons: type of music selected, being on camera or even just normal teenage apathy. I know you are working on a separate channel of you guys reacting to her music and maybe that will have a different response. I apologize if my observations seem out of line. Just my opinion. Thanks.

I'm not offended but I appreciate the honest opinion of slipknot. It's not for every body but it is art. Id say check out some of their funny compilations so you can see who they are under the mask. Theyre pretty much a group of nerds who just rock out.

She would probably like Avenged Sevenfold or Bullet For My Valentine or something. Those are a couple of bands that a TON of people get introduced to metal through.

I really think she would like Pearl Jam. Especially their live stuff. A LOT of crowd control in this one: "Pearl Jam - Better Man (Madison Square Garden - New York, NY 5/21/2010)"
