Excellent. Thank you for doing this with X-Mode and traction control both on and off.
I love your tests! Please test a Forester SH/SJ with manual transmission!

Thanks! If we find manuals, we'll test it for sure.
Blue one had the least drama. I wonder why Subaru made the next gen less aggressive by default.

Primary reason is for fuel efficiency, at the no x-mode reducing the torque sending to rear axle increases the gas mileage, and second reason is less aggressive mode allows higher speed range than full x-mode....
i think the xmode on the newer subaru dirt mode turns off after going a certain amount of speed. Its supposed to not allow as much wheel spin as the mud mode
👍👍👍
Super interesting, from test the SJ gives best results. However i would like to know if difference tire types and pressure. Also i think the age / km lifetime of gearbox etc. But from design i prefer the SH with intercooler air-intake on top.

Tyres do not influence the test, pressure correct for each car.
Blue one nailed the test! Looks like they reserved that ability to only deep snow mud on the new model. I assıme this would be done to reduce fuel consumption or for better handling?

I think that both.
Soo the SJ has the most aggressive programming.

SJ with one-level X-mode is the best tuned. SK is less aggresive to point out the new 2 level X-mode.

@@Albuermeduardo Sure it was. And ? I can't see any advantage in traction over SJ. Even considering the e-boxer support.
I wonder how Sh forester passed the side roller & diagonal & 3roller tests even though VDC was turned off. As far as i know, this model comes with 4 eat Mpt system with VDC. Maybe there is an electronic differential lock without any relay and switch off button.

You have to watch till the end. X-mode made a difference
The SH may have had a slightly worn center diff.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers
Жыл бұрын
It's AT, there's no center diff but a clutch-pack.
The white can do what the Blue can do on the right setting "Deep Snow and Mud". The white which is the 2020 model is more realiable compared to the 2019 model.
The SJ is more aggressive AWD program and stiffer suspension. Just wonder why the SK is less in many way?

El modelo SK tiene una barra estabilizadora mucho mas rigida. Y una suspension para carretera.

worked back in the day but with modern ECUs, if you brake then it cuts the throttle.
SJ Forester (blue) got the rest beat, but to be fair I believe it's the XT model which means it has a turbo engine so it has more torque and power, The front bumper gave it away (I own one)
@4x4.tests.on.rollers
Ай бұрын
Nope, blue one is not XT, it's standard 2.0
I´ve been an owner fo a SH Forester and currently own a SJ Forester which I love. However this test was not equilibrated, because I can see that the blue (SJ gen) has some kind of mild off road tires, allowing it to have more grip than the other too. Also, the driver of that same model was way more agressive from the beginning, which is not ideal for this kind of test. He should be accelerating gradually and let the system do its job like the others did.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers
Жыл бұрын
Tyres do not influence this test, cars are not missing the grip.. When it comes to being aggressive - way more is way more said. Driver of blue one could have been pressing the accelerator slightly faster but not harder, system takes control anyway.
