1:29 - Yes, you can hold somebody responsible for the rest of their life for something they did when they were twelve because the victim will never be the same. The mental pain that she will have to live with should be felt by the people who committed the crime. Three years for a lifetime of anguish. Insane.

But the mental illness does not excuse what she did. She tried killing someone for Slenderman. They are insane.

As a mum who absolutely adores her daughter I understand the mothers plight as it would be difficult to process the thought of them being locked away forever. The dreams we had for them shattered. However, if you really love your child they must be held accountable for their actions. She methodically planned it . This is a very deep and callous crime that the law must uphold its duty to the community to prevent from happening again. I cannot say how I would handle that situation, I probably would curl up and die . But I can say, I would expect that my child would be faced with the maximum repercussions and would never fight for less . This case sadly is a prime example of why we need to monitor our children closely . Theres no way that there wasn't "signs" . She just didn't want to see them

TheaterPup That by its self, no. However, that many strange things put together was a VERY clear sign. Why would you not seek out help for your 12 year old child who is oppsessed with a serial killer? Notebooks (many of them) full of drawings and writings plus computer searches all based on the same killer, and mutalated barbies are not normal for any age but def not for a 12 year old little girl. I'm not saying she should have known her little girl was going to kill her life long friend. What I'm saying is she had more than enough signs that something was very very wrong and that her little girl needed real help and fast.

Sad situation for everyone! If she was so sweet, why didn't she run to Mommy or Daddy to tell them someone was hurt and dying in woods!! A complete stranger found the victim on side of road after she crawled there!!! No!! No!!! It was a brutal, hateful, violent, planned @ P.J. Party all together as besties friends, the night before party!! Before savage attack!! So lucky she lived!! Bless her ❤️!! Can't imagine them doing this to a dog or cat, much less a child that was a friend!!! No conscious, no guilt, no nothing, to help her!!!! Don't get it!!! But don't let her out FREE!!! Not fair!!!

Also in that police interview she asked the detective if he was going to cut her head off. The showing of no emotion. The singing and dancing in a interrogation room alone... That is a child with onset severe schizophrenia. Which is an actual brain disease, that condition is not her fault. Cheered on by her so-called friend Anissa encouraging this crime and what led up to it., is was a recipe for disaster which happened, Who has since been released. Paydon, thank goodness has healed beautifully and has an extremely bright future. God bless her ♥️ I have so much empathy for Morgan, being diagnosis schizophrenia is very serious especially at such a young age. I have been following this case since 2014 when it happened now it's 2022. GMA is not where I get my information from that's for sure. I just came across this clip. If these girls, at age 12, don't already understand fact from fiction and/or that stabbing somebody (nearly) to death is wrong, then what makes these people think they're going to get it as teens or adults? They weren't like six year old children who thought they were performing a magic trick or something, they were 12 years old and tried to kill another 12 year old. How about instead of screaming about how unfair it is for them to be tried as adults, put some thought into what the victim has to face. Imagine the pain and horror she had to live through, imagine having to drag YOURSELF to a path to be found or end up dying in the woods. Imagine how traumatized this poor girl is now, how difficult it must be for her to trust other people, how hard it must be for her to make friends now. She's likely terrified to even be near the woods. How easy it is for these other parents to forget the actual victim of this crime because they want to come to their own child's aid. I get it, it has to be hard to know your child committed such a horrible crime against another child, but come on, take some responsibility and acknowledge that they should have known better. I don't think they should get 65 years in prison over it, that is one thing I will say. I also don't think three years is enough time for them to serve for this crime. I think a minimum of 30 years, possibly up to 40, would suffice. They would have plenty of time to evaluate their shitty decisions and MAYBE come out decent human beings.

Normal 12 year olds don't go around stabbing people. Also in a crime documentary you mentioned that you noticed your daughter had signs of mental issues as a kid yet you brushed it off. You and your husband knew she would bark at her classmates, play with blood, and had a book that had death in it and you never thought about seeking mental help, just told her not to bring the book to school. As if she's allowed to think and write murderous thoughts only at home.

Our mistakes may differ in scale, but as children I don't think we really understand the weight of what we are doing. Of course it is natural to give her punishment, but since she's still young I hope she was given the chance to change and get back into society ASAP. She's still young and needs to be in school. Also, I feel that the victim should have the final say in what happens to Morgan. The victim experienced Morgan's coldness and her kindness as a friend. As her best friend, she knows Morgan best and I am thinking she should choose Morgan's fate.

That being said, yeah, I kind of agree. I mean, this is a horrific thing that happened, but they were 12. They were too fucking stupid to realize the difference between fantasy and reality. 65 years seems too steep of a punishment, especially considering the victim survived. There have been times when actual adults got less time for a lot more. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_punishments_for_murder_in_the_United_States I think it's more important to rehabilitate them. They should be treated as mental patients, which is what they acted like (stabbing a close friend to please a videogame character? If that doesn't qualify as cuckoo bird, I don't know what does) They should be locked up and treated in a mental facility rather than being mixed up in prisons with even worse malcontents. I think there is still hope for them. Yes, they did something wrong, but that's no reason to turn them more into monsters. They are in the twilight zone now. Bring them back into the light, instead of driving them further into the darkness.

65 years is too long. Taking the friend into some secluded area to do wrong shows that the act was intentional. It would be interesting to know if the Mom and dad had any knowledge of their responsibility as shown in Deuteronomy 6:6. The outcome could have been different. As long as God's word is treated as something irrelevant and out of date for modern times, we would ALWAYS get the surprises of our little "babies who seem to be so kind and pure" because their hearts like ours are 'desperately wicked and deceitful" as the good book says. We blame the problems on poverty and all kinds of psychological crutches and forget the God who gives us the gift of reason and who will call us into judgement. I hope the parents get her dealt with in a facility that will release her early to them and I hope this will be a sobering reminder for the need to bring all vertical and horizontal relationships in line with what God wants for every one of us.

“ you can’t hold someone against something they did when they were 12 “ so trying to kill someone is just something you can give them a slap on the hand for? nooo they better go to prison for them full 60 years
