Sleeping Beauty's HORRIFYING Origins (Disney)

Фильм және анимация

How could Sleeping Beauty have been creepier? Join me on my animated dive into the past lives of this unfortunate Disney Princess, Aurora. Things have definitely changed over the centuries (thank goodness!) but it is interesting to see how the stories have evolved into what they are today. This tale gets more ghastly (and creepy) the further back in time we go, so grab a comfy seat as we look at four tales in this one video! Be on the look out for ogres, vipers, dragons, questionable dinners, and all sorts of gross happenings. Watch as you dare, watch what you will, and please, do know your own limits with this tale in particular!

I like how Perrault was like: "They really turned this justifiably angry queen into a bad guy but I dunno if I agree... if I make her an orgre then at least I'll keep the story intact by making her a literal monster." Dude... that cheating, necrophiliac king is the real monster here. (Also thank you Perrault for getting rid of the king and turning him into a respectful prince. You seem like a good dude.)

Not to forget the high risk of poverty, the bad hygiene, a low life expectancy who was mostly limit at 40/50 years old. In those times getting accepted by a rich or noble family was seen as great chance to have a better life. And this shit still goin in some countries nowadays.

One of the most ancient, suspected the first version, went like this: Once she and the prince married, he became king, and she queen. She had young children whose ages were around four and nine, but by becoming queen, she started to attend to balls and other royal duties. She left her children with a kind nanny. But when she returned there was blood, for the nanny was an ogress in disguise and had devoured the children. So I suppose the moral was "don't leave you're children with nannies" or something.

He committed ra** and cheating, and disrespect his wife by comparing her with a one night stand girl. So why did the king has a happy ending while the queen burned to dead? Is ra** a lighter crime than murder? Just because Talia accepted her fate means that ra** is not a crime anymore? In all honesty I think it's about the intention. Technically in my opinion the kissing thing wasn't bad either cause it was to save her life. And there is a happy ending in it. Not that much brutal. The story is also inspire and a critic of Henri I or II ? Cuz he used to publicly put to death his wifes when he assumed that they were cheating on him. And when I think about it, maybe it was a warn for the women who wanted to become the King's wife, since there was a bunch of women falling for his seductions and charisma, narcissic pervert I guess. Sorry, my comment become an analysis.

Ok, i loved this story and agree with the morals you tell, however i am going to give you a medieval life and history lesson. In medieval times, there was a ranking system for everyone, Food and land was hard to come by, so in order to keep the peace in kingdoms and prevent mass hysteria, ranking systems were made. The higher your rank, the more you food and land you were able to own. The royalty, especially kings and queens sat at the top. They were given the freshest and most delicious food, while as you go lower down the chain, you get less and less of a choice in what you eat, or where you live. This did not just apply to food and land, this also applied to clothing, weapons, jewelry, ways of travel as well as, say it with me "Mates". If you were royal, you were given the right to someones life back then, this was not just something the wealthy made up, but everyone made up. If you were rich enough, you could buy slaves, Entire portions of the continents land, as well as peoples lives. This was because Everyone was looking to survive back then. Back in medieval times, buying and selling slaves came with being a noble, or royalty. this also means, that you could basicly do whatever you want back then, and nobody would go against you if you were royal. That is why, the king was able to have kids with a stranger or even a corpse back then, for laws were extremely different back then. nobles and royalty were usually the ones doing the countries trades with other countries. In the end i am simply saying that back then mating with a corpse was not illegal, yes immoral but if nobody saw you doing it, then you would not be jailed, especially if you were royalty. Sorry for the long post, however i figured this brief history lesson might be interesting for the videos topic.

Interesting video! I've always had an interest in Sleeping Beauty ever since reading a manga called Ludwig Kakumei ( Ludwig Revolution). It tells tales of a prince looking out for a bride... includes Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Bluebeard, Red Riding Hood, Hansel & Grettel etc. My favorite part of the manga is Sleeping Beauty. The twist on the Sleeping Beauty story... SO GOOD! Thank you for making this video on the Origins of Sleeping Beauty!

"Did you grow up with any versions of this tale?" I really hope nobody grew up with that third one, that was the most messed up thing I've ever heard! My jaw absolutely dropped! No wonder it was altered! But to answer the question, I grew up with the Disney one, which I still love (though Maleficent was an awesome retelling!)

Dang the last one was a bit messed up I've always been appreciative of the Brothers Grim tales I think I like the Perrault version best though tbh I think another moral can be derived from these stories *DON'T LIE TO PARENTS/SPOUSES*

I grew up on the last one, and didn’t see a problem with it until later on in life - it was just what was in our fairy tale book - and now I wanna throw up

I just realized, that while everyone was reading and listening to cute romantic fairytales, I was listening to those old creepy tales. I did listen to these 3, when I was 4 and I actually never really got creeped out (Took me a few minutes to realise that)
