Sleazy "Nice Guy" Gets Kicked from a D&D Game (+ More) - RPG Horror Stories

Ойын-сауық

Sleazy nice guys, uncaring DMs, and all-out assault await on today's 3 part RPG Horror Stories episode.
RPG Horror Stories is a series where I (Crispy) read through stories from the subreddit r/rpghorrorstories and give advice on how to avoid the issues that lead to such stories in the first place.

On memory loss: I DM'd a session where we had to take a really long break and no one really remembered what had happened immediately before the break. So I began the session by telling people "You're equipment is slightly different. Colors and patterns have changed, you have items you don't remember having. From a portal, a god emerges. He looks around the party with a slightly panicked face, then exclaims. "Alright, This time, try not to die and don't follow the rat." " Everyone still brings this up. LOL

The craziest part of the last story is that it took the girlfriend a MONTH to break up with him. If he slaps people for disagreeing with him how long until the two of them had an argument and he ends up slapping her?

The fact the the warlock refers to the rogue as his "sloppy seconds" is completely fucked. Those characters never had a relationship. He's imagining he had a relationship with the bard/rogue *player.* Not okay. Not a personality you want anything to do with.

My favorite response to someone saying something like that is “she felt like a virgin after the first inch!” As vulgar as it sounds it does the trick!

That dark heresy story was the story of someone getting real lucky. The way the DM immediately booted them for talking back makes it seem to me like that was someone testing the waters to see if they could abuse this person, starting with little but asinine things to see if they could get away with it. The PC immediately talking back showed them they couldn't, so they kicked them out to try and find another victim.

The occasional railroading isn't even that big a deal, it's best to make sure players have options, but sometimes you've got to go where the story is, otherwise what's the point?

@@electricfishfan7159 Invisible walls are like janitors in high-class setting- You know they're there, you acknowledge that the whole place wouldn't be as clean as it was if they didn't exist, but you'll complain if you actually spot one.

If you're talking about Thelma, then she wasn't. OP wrote that she broke up with that guy about a month later. I mean obviously it doesn't happen immediately. That's just not how reality works.

I think the closest thing my DM came to ever controlling character backstory was including side characters that I didn’t mention. He never tried to rewrite the backstory, just include characters, an agent here, a friend there, maybe a family member

I am fine with memory loss. If you get permission from the players, I played a campaign where memory loss was a plot hook but the DM told us before it started.

What's kind of ironic is the end result, being the players from hell group. it reminds me of a video game (i forget which one but it's a popular mmorpg, I think also a battle royale as well but idk) who punishes cheaters and salty rage quitters by permanently sending them to a server comprised entirely of cheaters and salty players and no one else every time they join the game. honestly, it's a fitting end for those trpg players. they got banned for a reason, and if they aren't going to fix themselves, which it seems clear they wouldn't even entertain such notions, then there is no reason to allow them to continue their toxic behavior around the gaming community if it's just going to hurt normal games

Sorry to disagree, but the warlock in Story 1 isn't a Nice Guy at all. Nice Guys try to act all sweet and feminist then EXPECT sex in return, like it's a transaction. The warlock's just a sleezeball creeping on any girl he meets.

First story, Rogue should dump the group for not standing up for her against the Warlock with anymore assertiveness than a wet noodle and not dropping any play with Warlock.

The warlock, he is a, how to say, the big poop. Paladin should have challenged them to a duel, but the big mouth coward warlock wouldn't dare fight someone stronger than him with anything but words. Why would their patron even consider such a weak coward to be the sugar daddy of?

I'm new to the channel and have been enjoying a lot of the newer vids. Decided to put on one of the playlists and hit shuffle to get this oldie so it's a little funny to hear that someone being slapped is the worst thing on this channel after hearing so many other stories. Not to belittle that experience, it's definitely horrible and bad but then I just think about future videos involving real life grooming and trying to force SA plots and 🥴

"I have no idea if it is just me that finds the Warlock's attitude or behavior bad..." Oh no, it's not just you. Anyone with even a little social sense (even me who has almost none :P) would find his behavior atrocious.
