My 9 yr old daughter listens to hard rock, heavy metal.. i traded in my electric guitar so she could pick out her pink acoustic guitar to jam out on.. plenty of time to learn the good stuff we all love to hear on the radio or on vinyl. .

I grew up with many kinds of music especially different styles of Hispanic music my parents are Dominican but main music growing up was Rock and Metal and Hip Hop. But unfortunately because of what Hip Hop has become now. It's sad. There's good new artists in the genre but only a few have true recognition. I listened to those when I'm in New hip hop mode lol. But I mostly listen metal of different genres and rock mostly.

The likelihood that even on GNR records have autotune is pretty high. Very few artists since the digitization of music *don't* use autotune. Something as simple as room temperature can throw things out of tune, so autotune exists to fix that. Are you thinking of those like robot voices, like T-Pain? That is autotune, but that's used more as an effect than covering mistakes. Just like Slash uses reverb or delay or distortion. My point is, auto tune doesn't mean anything, if you understand how it's used. It's just a tool to fix some unavoidable negative effects.

No it's not. Nowadays it's used to make bad vocalists sound good. Sure, there is no problem in using it to insure consistency, but if vocalists use it all the time and not just to let their high notes sound cleaner then it's just a replacement for talent and work.

d0ngman I didn't say he was wrong. But to say it's only used for 1 specific reason is wrong. There are artists who only use it in certain situations, but there are also artists who use it constantly in order to not sound horrible. And I'd like to know what generation you are supposing I was born in, and what would be so wrong about it. There's either nothing wrong about my or any other generation or everything is wrong with all generations.

These people bashing on auto tune and modern hiphop man, I grew up with turbo folk and Macedonian folk music, then from 10 till 15-16 I only listened to metal, rock, old school hiphop and little bit of punk, after 16 I started listening to everything, literally everything, from coutry to modern hiphop to modern pop and old school pop to new wave to punk to metal (obviously more than few subgenres of everything). It's more fun when you listen to more genres than sticking to few.

Slash is my favourite guitarist. He is phenomenal.

The real story's of being a dad....nice!

I grew up on the same stuff Slash did. AC/DC an Black Sabbath, Dio , GNR. Ozzy (both Ozzy and Dio with and without Sabbath & as solo artists, Dio with rainbow and Elf). Many more.

Dad USED to listen to AC/DC and that's the heaviest he can listen to along with Black Album Metallica, one thing led to another and I remain the sole listener of Queen, GnR, ACDC, SRV, Hendrix, Clapton(Mostly Cream and Derek and the Dominoes), Judas Priest, R.H.C.P., Yngwie Malmsteen,Megadeth, Metallica(yes, I love them both) and Nirvana(Hey, they have cool melodies for a sole songwriting member who NEVER learned music theory) in my family. I also listen to rap music, so fight me, I will defend rap as music.
