SLAPCHOP with The Army Painter 2.0 Speedpaint - Blue Dragonborn Fighter

I'm continuing to practice and experiment with my new speedpaints by painting this dragonborn fighter! In this video I try using metallics and mixing the paints together to get lots of variation in the leathers.
The colors in this video are all found in the 10 paint starter box of speedpaints from the Army Painter!
I'll be using speedpaints to paint a full 40 piece set of undead mermaids! Check out my channel to watch every brushstroke.

Hey there, another good recipe for metallics is to put down a silver base, then once it's dry go over it with the tone speedpaint. The silver, then zealot yellow will give great results for a polished gold, I'm definitely noting your mix results for weathered metallics.

Yeah, you can achieve some great armor tints, if your looking for a brighter look, ive tried vallejo chrome and then the speedpaint. but im sure any chrome or bright silver would work.

Just what I was looking for. You got a new sub. Would be interested in your highlight video. Just trying to decide between the mega set and complete set. I have the 1.0 Speedpaints already but need to be able to brush varnish and not have reactivation

  • @chillminipainting

Thanks for the sub! Reactivation has not been an issue at all with these paints. The opposite has been true really - it dries on the palette so fast that you need to be careful to not use too much at a time.

Army painter has a rattle can of matte varnish, if you're just needing to protect the final product.

@@IndyMotoRider cheers, I have rattlecan varnish but it's not the best weather to use them just now and I can't use brush on for speedpaint 1.0. I've a bunch of 2.0 on their way now and they'll be fine with brush on varnish

Since the paints are already transparent, I'm not sure that you have to mix with the paints with the metallic. I think a good process would be to paint the metallic first and then glaze over it with the color you want. Just an Idea.

Hey, Thanks for the videos. I've recenetly got back into painting, having not done it since my school days 30+ something years ago. So I'm watching as much as I can, especially Army Painter Speed Paints stuff, which I have chosen as the paints I'm going to use. I will say I have found the Slapchop seems to leave my models\colours too dark when they are finshed. Not sure if I'm not dry brushing the white heavy enough. Anyway I have switched to using just a white primer (Matt White or Brainmatter Beige) which gives me brighter results. Maybe you could do a test using a couple of models, one with Slapchop and the other white primer and see what you think of the SpeedPaints?
