Ondolemar and Ancano fascinating. Ondolemar is surprisingly polite and respectful if you help him. Ancano actually puts on a good show to hide his intentions and it only fails because you've already seen the Thalmor by the time you meet him, but I appreciate his efforts. They're both handsome too!

I'd settle for not having to mess with them in the Main Questline. I wanted to rat Delphine out to Elenwen, not break into the main Embassy and kill every mer that gets in the way :< As it is I just have to get my sneak, illusion, and pickpocket skills really high before doing that quest so I don't have to hurt any mer.

lol If u asked him to distracted the party of course he will hates u after that, because you got him in to trouble for helping u. Did u know that he got into blacklist for helping someone to against their own corporation? This is comman sense. If u didn't asked for his help, he won't even care what u did in the embassy, because he still likes me after the party and still greet me as a friend of hard to find. I have feeling for Ondolemar, and I feel very sorry for allowing Ulfric to take over Markarth. My fault of Ondolemar's death. If I can be in Markarth in time, I will certainly drag Ondolemar and his two body guard out from Markarth, to any place safe.

This one Thalmor made my character want to be friends with the Empire more than the Stormcloaks.

Man... He has one of the most well carved out personalities in the game. I wish they'd finished working on everything. I'm almost certain he was meant to be so much more than an NPC that paces around all day. His affinity marker in Solitude's abandoned headquarters is plenty of reason for me to assume that. Also, I love his sassy little "no offense" remark. Hands down my favorite TES5 character.

Well, you can make him follower if u have some mods and do some console command. I had some fun dragging him to fight for me. I'm currently a female high elf, casting destruction, alteration, restoration and conjuration spells, while wielding a dagger and a mace for tanking and wearing a set of self-made light armor. I'm an Akatosh worshipper so I have no problem with the Thalmors. Something I want to say, Ondolemar is old but he is smart, while he is funny and sometimes annoying. He doesn't like to wait and he likes to have attention from me. If I keep him waiting, for just a couple of seconds, he will starts doing anything that get my attention, to distract me from what I'm doing. If there's a chair, he may sits on it, if there's a workbench or grindstone he may use it. He is a mortal that cannot stay quiet, he's a busy mer. I've been playing Skyrim for so long, he is the only npc that cannot stay put. He is smart because he knows when to cast what spells. He used fire spells against frost type enemies while using frost spells against fire type enemies, etc. Most npc in TES don't care on attacking their opponents weak point, most of them were fight like a moron because they did what they shouldn't, example use fire spells against fire type opponents. As for Ondolemar, he is not, he always seek for their weak point.

Personally, I prefer Ancarion from the Dragonborn DLC. Assuming the game isn't bugged, you can strike a deal with him and sell Stalhrim weapons and armor to him.

1:37 This really shows one of the major flaws of the Thalmor state of mind. He does not deserve a place in OUR pantheon. They are not speaking about anyone else's pantheon, but their's. Yet they feel they have the right to force their religious beliefs onto others, exactly what they accuse the Imperials of. They're not only racists but also hypocrites.

A random NPC who has 5 minutes of dialogue: * has bare minimum respect for the player* All of us: Dad? Husband? Yes. C'mere babe I mean, to be fair, he just seems like your dad that was raised in a horrible hateful environment but is trying his best to accept you as gay (human/other race/not a thalmor supporter in this case) and you are a complete stranger so I guess thats kinda nice of him

@@stephobrienart He seems awfully gullible to me, you bring him one amulet and it's not like he's just nice to you now, he literally tells you that your presence brings him genuine joy like almost nothing else around him, witch is KIND OF FUCKING WEIRD to say to someone who you just met and who has done like one very small thing for you lmao. He also seems very nice, eager to explain to you anything that you wish to know without any complaining really, which is also very strange I don't know what was bethesda thinking making him THIS nice why would they even do this hahahah, but I love the guy. He seems like he genunely just wants to help everyone but Thalmor has twisted his idea of what "helping people" means so he thinks killing and torturing people for worshipping Talos is "helping by getting rid of the evil heretics" Even when he says humans are weaker than mer, he doesn't want them to be slaves or be killed or treat them like scum, he genuinely has respect for the stormcloaks for fighting for their country after all. Really weird guy.

@@nonamesorry7135 Yeah, I get the impression that: 1. Ondolemar is one direly lonely Mer who gets attached very easily. His superior officers probably said “OK, this guy is as determined as a Nord and is very serious about eliminating heresy, so he could be of use to us in Skyrim. But he also gets attached to pretty much anyone who’s nice to him, so we’ll need to station him somewhere where all the locals will hate his guts and he won’t have any non-Thalmor to bond with. …Oh, crap. That Blades agent was nice to him. Shit.” 2. He likes to talk, and has a vast stash of opinions stored up, but does not have many people who actually want to hear them. (Probably because he’s as blunt and undiplomatic as a giant’s club, haha.) So when the Dragonborn actually gives him the time of day and expresses interest in his thoughts, he’s delighted. 3. I agree with you that he honestly does see the Thalmor as a benevolent force, and probably believes the benefits of eliminating heresy outweigh the harm done in the process. Unlike most Justiciars, he sincerely cares about not hurting people he sees as innocent, as evidenced by how quick he is to take the blame rather than get Razelan thrown out of the party. (While a cut scene does have him threatening the Stormcloaks with slavery, his behavior toward Razelan makes me think those intentions are limited to the people who are actively killing the Thalmor, not humanity as a whole.) 4. The other Thalmor haven’t told him about the political aspects of the Talos ban or their deliberate efforts to stir up conflict in Skyrim, perhaps because he wouldn’t approve, and almost certainly because Commander No Filter would probably blurt out their secrets in front of the Jarls. I honestly wish more of the Thalmor had such multi-dimensional personalities, instead of just being cardboard cutout cartoon villains. And I wish they’d talked more about the historical aspects of the Talos ban, because when a person is as evil as Tiber Septim, it does raise the question: “If you worship a person who treated innocent people so horribly, what does that say about YOUR moral code and your opinion of the value of his victims’ lives?”

​@@stephobrienart Yeah I completely don't get why we're just supposed to be thalmor haters NO MATTER WHAT RACE WE ARE TOO and there's never any option to be like "hey, that Talos guy wasn't very nice, also there's literally no evidence (the fact that his amulet gives you a bonus and praying to him works IN GAME doesn't count) of him being an actual god" what if I wanted to roleplay as someone who supports thalmor? Also, the fact that Talos was actually pretty nasty in the lore ngl and nobody even questions him being a god except for "bad natzi elves" is just bad writing imo, it's boring as hell. I get that they tried to cut corners as much as possible because this game is huge but... I wish there was more meaningful content in it sometimes. But I suppose it was sort of worth it anyways. Also ah, what would I give to have a quest in the game that allows me to change Ondolemar's mind on the thalmor and help him run away and hide and him possibly becoming a marriage option/follower after the quest is complete... He's too nice for these jerks. Also I absolutely love every single idea you have about him, his behaviour turns on my dad instincts 🥺 ALSO, when you complete the main quest and Markarth is given to the stormcloaks the Thalmor doesn't even tell Ondolemar to get the fuck out of there... they just leave him to die... it hurt my heart so bad when I first played the main quest...

I haven’t gone through the full game with it yet, so I couldn’t vouch for all of its functionality, and some parts of it are not that well-written, but at least it’s there. It’s called Aldmeri Dominion Strengthened. Still, it would’ve been nice if it was a fully integrated option in the original game. Re: that quest idea you mentioned, while I don’t have the modding skills to make such a thing, I actually did write a fanfiction along those lines, called “Your Truth Cannot Stand”. I could send you the link if you’d llike. And yes, it is so sad that the Thalmor don’t warn Ondolemar when the Stormcloaks are coming. If the Dragonborn kicked Elenwen out of the peace conference, I could see them maybe not knowing until it was too late, but if Elenwen WAS there, it was clearly a deliberate decision, and it just reinforces my suspicion that they treated Ondolemar as a useful but disposable pawn. Also worth noting is the fact that, from what I’ve heard, killing him only gets you the 40 gold bounty for assault instead of the 1k bounty for murder, like they were just charging you with something as a formality to cover their own asses while being secretly pleased he was gone. No wonder he bonds with the Dragonborn so fast - it seems like no one else in the game likes this guy.

I actually love him in not even ashamed. He’s one of the more ‘in on the joke’ kinda thalmor

I think that in TES6, Ondolemar should be captured by the Imperial Legion, for interrogation. And the Player should be able to interrogate Ondolemar. The Ondolemar lovers could just verbally interrogate him, and show him some decency. That is when he's cooperative. This would be the run to find out a lot of lore he knows about, because, well, you're the only one he can talk to. You can wear down his faith in the Thalmor, until you convince him that the Thalmor aren't interested in saving an "oh so high" member. And after we've convinced him of that, we can convince him that the Thalmor aren't even following Auriel's teachings anymore. You could then also steal the Amulet of Auriel from his belongings and give it to him, so he can pray to Auriel for forgiveness. The Ondolemar haters should have the option to torture him. They wouldn't get as much lore as being friendly to Ondolemar, but that would introduce a neat game mechanic: the Torture victim from the Dawnstar Sanctuary, except it's a Thalmor. The cutscenes about torture tho would be like the ones from GTA5.

My first couple of Playthroughs I killed him every time. I got some mods and got him as a follower. I use the kissing mud on him, now I’m madly in love with him. I know this sounds crazy but he is one hot SOB. You should see him in his underwear and oh my God the way he kisses me. I kicked Mercurio to the dirt . I’m seriously crazy about this guy. He’s not the strongest follower but I love his dialogue in his voice. He says the funniest things in battle. He is truly a bad ass and I want to kiss his face off. I married him and now I won’t fight the Civil War for the storm clouds because I don’t want him to die.

Of course, that being said, the Nords are worse than the Thalmor, Talos committed genocide, and if you didn’t lose the war pray tell me why there are Thalmor in Skyrim but no Stormcloaks in Alinor.
