I think they literally can't fully mature without some exposure to hist sap it gives them more human like qualities in the original lore. In the older games they look just like humans but with reptilian eyes. I'm guessing they cut that lore so people could always be cool lizards but maybe they should've added a reptile slider in customization instead. So in og elder scrolls the lizard looking folk were just too far from their homeland to develop properly.

The daedra tried, but the forests of valenwood literally changed formation and the terrain to make an invasion nigh impossible. The daedra never even saw the wood elves.

Argonians are the only race that can breath both underwater and air, which makes guerilla warfare so much easier for them, which is the only advantage they got against their enemies. Which would put navy seals to shame when they perform a covert operation or other impossible stealthy mission that requires them to go under water for periods of time. Lol

But by keeping them weaker and able to be slaves they actually spread farther then if they were stronger. If they were hulked out factions would unite to fight them, so instead they keep em down and thus be taken or spread naturally without much pushback

The Argonian People were actually created by The Hist: a race of sentient spore trees. These trees created the Argonians to populate and build up the land and also to act as defenders to The Hist. The roots of The Hist are rumored to run all along Tamriel and have established a telepathic and spiritual link that joins every Hist and Argonian into a massive Hive Mind. The Hist and Argonian empire have a long standing partnership with Sithis; who's close connection with death and the plots that stem from it felt the oncoming death of Emperor Uriel Septim and correctly predicted the following invasion from Mehrunes Dagon. After receiving word from Sithis, The Hist used the Hive Mind connection to recall most of the Argonians back to Black Marsh to prepare for war and opened up their tree bodies, taking the Argonians inside, bathed them in The Hist Sap, altering them with whats essentially Skooma mixed with steroids and meth. This made them stronger, faster, more agile and able to withstand far more punishment/harsher environments. After altering them, it's actually pretty close to the meme: The Hist had roughly 90ish percent of the entire Argonian race lie in wait for the Oblivion Gates to start appearing. As soon as The Gates opened: The Argonians fucking rushed them so fast and so hard that The Argonians were actually starting to CONQUER THE VICINITY OF THE GATES. This forced the Daedra to actually seal off all the gates they opened in Black Marsh and the Daedra actually banked on conquering the rest of Tamriel first, and then swarm Black Marsh with all of their armies at once. TLDR: The Gang Tries To Fuck With A Bunch Of Lizards Hopped Up On Magic Meth Juice

After Thee ages of being subjected, Tormented, and Mocked, Agonians found that dog in them and decided to make examples out of the Deadrea.

We 100% should have had a TES IV: OBLIVION dlc that took place in at least some part of black marsh and allowed us to participate in the invasion of oblivion. Also, I'd like to draw some comparisons to the real world counterpart to the argonians; The USMC: -Both are amphibious in nature -Both are part of another group whilst still being seperate, under the leadership of one nation -Both are under budgeted -Both are highly skilled in stealth operations -Both do more with less resource as compared to other groups -Hell is scared of both -Both are constantly getting fucked by their overlords

That actually happened after. Morrowind got hit hard in the Oblivion Crisis, while Argonians didn't lose much. They then decided to go to war with Morrowind, and ended up retaking territory and freeing their kind.

I like to think that the empire that the argonians had before men and mer came to Tamriel was that strong because the Hist had them permanently blessed with the Hist sap all the time (Or being insanely powerful was their common state). But for some reason, the trees decided that their avatars on mundus needed to be weakened before the the arrival of the other races.
