This is it. This is what "home away from home" sounds like. I'll never forget the adventures I had in Skyrim. Packing for a hard ride through blinding blizzards atop black peaks. Shaking off rain in forgotten taverns. Staring out across the night with hearts full and aching for reasons secret to all but ourselves. Skyrim may be considered an 'empty' game by some... But many of us know how to transform a canvas.

Only a fool would call it an empty game. Skyrim has brought much more than hope happiness or comfort to millions. It has given us a timetable of how old we really are. And how old technology is invariably still very usefull when there hasn't been anything better invented yet.

Skyrim is my home, I spent my childhood exploring it’s seemingly endless mountains and valleys, as a kid I would sit in breeze home or windstad manor and watch the fireplace as this peaceful music southed my soul. Those were simpler times without the hardship and worry of today. But I still find myself as an adult dropping back into my home from time to time to experience the tranquility I could never find in the real world. I will always be proud to call myself a true son of Skyrim.

Bethesda may have some odd practices, for consumers and employees… They may have some ups and downs with releases (Fallout 76 and 4, the many re-releases of Skyrim, etc.) But the one thing they have and always will is nail the OST. Their soundtracks are seriously unmatched when it comes to atmosphere.

    3 жыл бұрын

@@unclecracker7454 the game has its own nostalgia that is true to itself. But that nostalgia can play a part in an even thicker nostalgia outside of the game and within the room it resides in. Within the people who are sharing that room and the experience of skyrim with you. Dont forget that people come and go. But the game remains. I could no longer put up with what she was doing to me behind my back. But the good memories stay true in Tamerial and our mincraft maps which I can longer find the heart to play on. Forever solidified in the past. Good times can turn bad very fast, dont take them for granted while they are there.

This reminds me of being a 13 year old kid, sitting in my room and playing this on Xbox 360. I played this game to get through my parents divorce, and subsequently my mom dying of cancer. This music reminds me of being an innocent child just trying to enjoy life, not knowing of much pain or suffering. How I long to go back.

I'm willing to bet when Jeremy Soule came in with his score and showed it to the crew at Bethesda. They just probably had their jaws on the floor in absolute disbelief. I feel sometimes that 50% at least of what makes this game unforgettable is this score. I'll never forget the score for as long as I live I listen to it on a weekly basis and I listened to it when my mom died. There's so much of the emotion and nostalgia of 2011/12 that really hits me when I hear this and it's not just nostalgia though, it really is tone for tone and cadence for cadence the greatest video game soundtrack of all time.

I actually picked up a copy of skyrim at a garage sale for $2 in 2018 with the intention of flipping it for a small profit, to which never happened (Thanks ADHD). It had been collecting dust until a month ago, when i decided to humor my older brother's advice and play the game. I am currently on my first 60 hours of the game and I AM FLOORED! (along with my jaw). I play when i can, and when i do. I cannot contain my pure almost childlike joy. I feel transported where my existence feels anything but dull. What a masterpiece. When I was 18, this game was released. I joined the Marine Corps 2 weeks after graduating high school and spent as much off time as I could, playing Skyrim. In many this music reminds me of my time in the military, it is both the soundtrack to my Redguard Rouge's adventures as well as my own, and that warms the heart. The nostalgia that comes along with this soundtrack is potent and pure, and although some of my nastolgic memories may be painful, I always remember that Skyrim gave me creativity and motivation on the worst days the Corps had to offer.

Played Skyrim when it first came out over ten years ago, recently watched some videos with the new graphics and was love at first sight, purchased an Xbox one X with a terra-byte disk and the anniversary edition and just started playing once again, in a week reached level 20 and enjoying every minute of it. It’s like EverQuest game except the waste of time questing for hours without no end. Very calming at times and pumps my adrenaline with some missions. There’s an older lady with 87 yrs young playing I believe the PC version and she’s having a blast, bless her soul and young spirit of adventure. I just turned 60 and retired and besides my things around the house, this is my stress reliever. Thanks Bethesda Studio’s for this masterpiece. Very well done, besides a few glitches here and there. I can imagine that it took them years to come up with the main game. Love it!

I'll never forget my first Skyrim character (Taline the stealthy Nord thief), exploring the massive world, dungeons, quests, buildings for the first time I just... was so immersed, I really felt like I was there and I took great pride in the hoard of jewels on my bedroom floor (Breezehome babay) and various valuables I collected through my travels, spending hours setting them all up perfectly only to log back in and find everything on the floor (ok, unimmersive but still). I miss that, now it seems impossible to get that same "completely immersed" feeling anymore. Perhaps because I was younger... however Skyrim lives on in my heart. I'm gonna play the *shit* out of TES 6.

I was like that with my first TES game, Morrowind, and that continued through Oblivion and into Skyrim. I always prayed the predominant race of the region in my first playthroughs but always wound up recreating my original Morrowind character; Olarim, the Dunmer spellsword, incarnate of the prophesied Nerevar and wayward adventurer who stopped the devil, Dagoth Ur and put an end to the blight on Vvardenfell. Eventually he moved on and became the hero of Kvatch, stopping Mehrunes Dagon and the Oblivion Crisis in Cyrodiil before traveling north to Skyrim. It was there, in the bitter cold land bathed in the blood of brothers-at-war and dragons that he learned of his true destiny; the Dragonborn. He was a magician, a subtle rogue, a stalwart Companion and a hero of the people. Always loyal to the Empire and forever it's protector.

Skyrim will always be my second home when I want to escape the mundaneness of reality. So many hours spent wandering Skyrim with awesome companions.

I imagine every time Bethesda is working on a new Elder Scrolls game and the score is finished, they all sit down and hear the music for the first time.. just epic. Must be a huge moment for them to hear their creation come to life, as the music is a big part of what makes the game so brilliant.

I never really appreciated all the work that went into skyrim until now. The rotations of the sky, the sound of wind passing by, the grass and trees swaying, and the soft music that really brings out the aesthetics of the game. I really hope the same dedication goes into the next elder scrolls.
