The X2D is $14k. A similar equipped DJI is half that. For the consumer market, the cost needs to come down substantially.

Skydio is officially now part of the military-industrial-complex and should be boycotted. They probably deliver directly to the israeli terrororganization IDF involved in genocide in Gaza. By contrast DJI is commercial and does not supply drones for military purposees and has loudly and clearly warned against military use of their drones.

I purchased the skydio 2+ after watching some KZread videos. It looked like a cheap way to do some 3d mapping. I never expected such paywalls and company instability. I believe they are making a drone for military and trying to sell it off as enterprise for a crazy price. I will wait to see some show case examples and not just reviews from ppl who havnt really tested it properly.

Skydio are the ones pushing for the dji ban. They can't compete with dji so they plan to remove them the US market, so if want a decent drone for commercial use your forced to buy from them. Pay more get less. No thanks.

ohh man I wonder if that 1 inch sensor is a mechanical shutter ! if it is, it means fast good mapping + thermal on the same drone ! it would be a no brainer for me !

The Interchangeable gimbles gamble

IF they’re NOT “shaking up the ‘CONSUMER-aspect’ of the drone market”..they literally LEAVE BEHIND 60-75% , or more..of the ACTUAL market share. THAT’S pretty important..or one would think.

You make a good point, but their strategy (I assume) is essentially to go after the market that Chinese drones can’t reach and that’s military and federal government (and even local government in some cases). So yes, leave behind the cheaper consumer drones, but focus on more expensive and more lucrative enterprise drones.

I can't... unfortunately! We'll not the traditional way. You have to trick the system by having the drone plugged in while you swap out the battery

i mean, it's a FLIR Boson+ 640, they cost about 6 grand and are actually probably the best for size, weight and performance.

Freaking junk👎 They're 10 years behind DJI

Costs $2k to make and then screw the tax payers with a $18k price tag! DJI thermal is $5k!

Good luck getting an actual radiometric jpeg from a DJI. You cant use their outputs with FLIR thermal studio.
