Skoolie Bus Tour | OFF GRID School Bus Conversion Build

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Here is my school bus conversion that is 99.9% complete.
It is a 1999 Thomas School Bus with a DT466e engine and has just over 180,000 miles. We started this conversion in April of 2022 and here we are a little over a year later. There are some things that I want add in the future, but right now I can enjoy it and start traveling with it.
Thanks for watching! Enjoy!

Excellent job with the conversion!! Absolutely beautiful interior design and color choices. Watched your other time lapse build video earlier and took several pages of notes.

Changing the diff would be a good idear, but have you thought of installing a two speed diff to give you more flexable drive line. the lower range could be used in mountance areas and the high side would give you a better hwy way speed. As for the air conditioner, i would have thought you could install a split system with two head units. One for the front of the bus while the smaller head unit could be used in the main bedroom. Are you going to install a extra set of aux batteries for you solar to charge and seperate from the engine batteries. Great build by the way. Good luck.

I was able to switch the rear gears and gain some MPH. And planning on changing the transmission to one with an overdrive in the future.

I saw your bus your on another channel- outdoor adventures I think. Fantastic build. So well equipped and laid out. Couldn’t really ask for more. Maybe a better close off, just for the main bedroom. Pocket door or something. But really great. 👏

This is nice. I am curious, why do you have a driving camera and backup camera in the back? I haven’t seen that before but I was wondering if there should be separate cameras. Thanks.

Hey. One camera is angled liked you are looking in a rear view mirror. The other is angled down towards my bumper to see when I’m backing up.

I have no experience dealing with things like this but there are a few things that I’ve spotted that are a bit odd to me. The A/c looks like it can use a bit more protection as its under the bus and the drawers i see are held by what looks like magnets and I was wondering if that would become an issue on like bumpy &/or rocky roads. Last thing is instead of a generator why not a larger battery or more batter packs that can also be charged off of the bus engine with and an auxiliary fuel tank that can make up for it. I love the build and total and i dont mean to be negative or say anything bad its a just a few thoughts and wanted to know your input so i can learn.

Thanks! I always appreciate the input. The position of the AC unit is out of the way and is guarded by a big mud flap. I havent had any issues with it yet. The drawers are all soft close and havent opened while driving down the road. And the generator was free so thats why I installed it. I do need to get a DC to DC charger to be able to charge the batteries while driving down the road. But I dont really see myself using the generator with the current solar and battery setup.
