Buying sagaa of a SKODA : I am a business man running a large scale business and always remain on wheels. Time is very precious for me. Recently i.e, end of Jan. 2018 i have planned to upgrade my car and had confusion between Jeep Compass / Hyundai Tucson / Skoda Octavia L&K. I had appx. 45% finance ready with me and for rest i had my own Banker for that. Since i am from a village Trasi, Kundapura Taluk, Udupi District, i have to visit towns and city's to have a personal look on recent cars. Hyundai Showrooms were available very close to my village and Skoda Showroom was appx. 100 Km away and Jeep compass was available ONLY in Belgaum, Bangalore and Mysore which are appx. 400 km away. So myself and and my son who assists me in my all business activities visited Mysore to have a look on all the three together. First we visited Jeep Compass and then Hyundai and finally Sagar Auto-Tech. for Skoda. Since time was very precious for me and Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI At L&K in White colour was readily available with Sagar Auto-Tech. and they were ready to do Udupi registeration for me, we thought of finalising the deal with them quickly as I was suppose to visit U.K. to join my son. For the same on 07-02-2018 I have made payment of Rs. 100,000 through RTGS and booked the vehicle and collected all the requisite documents to process the vehicle Loan. Even in between one Holiday and one Holyday I have managed to arrange the Loan and on 12-02-2018 itself and full payment was made to Sagar Auto-Tech. We reached Sagar Auto-Tech. on 14-02-2018 to get the delivery of vehicle as suggested by them. As per their promise Sagar Auto-Tech delivered the vehicle on 14-02-2018 without completing the formality of even Temporary Registration. On insisting on it finally they sent me the picture of temporary registration document DATED 15-02-2018 on Whatsapp. That means they have delivered the vehicle on previous day of temp. registration and till end of february I wasn’t having temporary registration as a document with me. Then i got involved myself in my routine. All of a sudden I realised between 14-02-2018 to 24-02-2018 there was absolutely NO communication from Sagar Auto-Tech. regarding completing rest of the formalities. My Banker Canara Bank, Gangolli, Udupi, 576216 too called me regarding non receipt of any documents from them. Then I called Sagar Auto-Tech on telephone regarding the issue of completing the formalities of Permanent Registration and to send documents to my banker. After my telephone call only they got awakened and undertook their job of sending requisite documents. In an hurry by mistake they sent even the documents which they were suppose to send to the banker to me. Ultimately it was a mammoth effort to bring things is proper channel. After wasting plenty of precious ‘TIME’ finally I have been informed by Sagar Auto-Tech to meet their broker for registration on 07-03-2018 which lead to cancellation of my air-ticket. At last my vehicle got registered. But the question arised in my mind is “IS THERE THIS MUCH DIFFICULTY JUST TO BUY A CAR?” Any how, I very happy with my dream car which is running smoothly. But the difficulty I have incurred in just buying a Skoda car, sometimes make me to think What will be my plight in after sales servicing? I hope, Skoda India will not let me down.

I do ot want to disappoint you but skodas after sales service is very very poor. Its so horrible that i catn describe.. it took 2 months for skoda to figure out what was wrong with my superb and install the part.. i am not exaggerating. I gave my car at the workshop on 1st june and took it back on 31st july. The parts are expensive and their service centers and the employees are horrible. I hope u have a good experience with skoda

Octavia sits in a class of its own. Pricewise it may compete with the Elantra and Corolla but it's really aimed at punching cars way above its weight. I drive an Octavia 1.8 tsi and it's the best decision I've ever made.

Although the car is good is the best in its class i bought the elantra sxo at petrol because 1: resale value and after sales services are pretty good in hyundai 2: the new 2018 elantra has much more safety and other features than octavia 3: the 2.0 litre petrol engine is a charm 4: feels more German than japanese 5: justifies the cost

No matter what's there in Market ...it's hard to beat Octavia.

Funny how different things are, had no idea Skoda was considered a premium car in India, in Sweden it's known for being a budget friendly car, known for being very affordable, reliable and cheap to drive, insure and maintain. I.e. a car for people with modest incomes.

Talamon San no shit Sherlock. There's a difference between a developed country like Sweden and a developing country like India. Skoda is not a premium brand in India per se (the usual big 3 Germans, Volvo and JLR fit the bill) but it's more premium compared to the real budget brands we have in India, namely Suzuki, Hyundai, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Renault, Tata etc

+kirangemtube The Octavia does scrape with a full passenger load. For the regions you mentioned, you don't really need an SUV, but in case you want to go out exploring some more, you'd need that extra ground clearance. We'd recommend you take a test drive of the Skoda Kodiaq. That should suit your requirements quite well.

I am considering Octavia or wait for Civic. The two things I do not like in Octavia, very plain outer design, no aerodynamic body ridge. Also, the cost-cutting from DRL light break is too conspicuous. Tail light does not extend to boot to give it a more rich look and no chrome strip to join between boot light. we expect such things of a car of 20lakh Plus. Otherwise, it is a great car. One more thing it lacks is resale value, which is around 20% after 5 to 6 years whereas for Honda it is 35%. The 2019 battle will be Honda Civic vs Skoda Octavia.

I just bought a Skoda Octavia 1.8 L&K... It's the best car by far in that segment. Only other car under consideration was honda civic. The other two cars in that segment Altis and Elantra and miles away from Skoda. Regarding the after sale service, Skoda is giving 4 years service package and 6 years warranty and road side assist ( 4 warranty plus 2 ext warranty).. so that answer the question of after sale service. More info can be found on Google by searching for Volkswagen India 2.0. regarding the resale, why not enjoy the car (the beast) in hand than think of resale that might happen few years down the line...there are a lot of intangible things when you own an Octavia that can't be equated to money.

No doubt Skoda cars are awesome but in India they are having very less service station compare to Hyundai, Ford, Toyota so customers worry before going to buy.

When you cover a Carsy complete aspects, you have to compare After-sale and long run performance. Also, comparison just only with Hyundai does not feels right. You have just branded the car just exactly like how a Skoda Salesman do. Poor context for a Automobile reviewer.

No doubt the car is good buy thats just the half story.. Their after sales service is horrible and pathetic and thats the biggest factor of owning an expensive car. Is it not? Also spares are very expensive too and so is the labour cost.. For me, service repo of a brand is more imp than their products. Though this is a grt car, i would stay away for that reason alone

Elantra is a newer car than octavia which has more and better features, much more efficient engine (talking about the petrol) and has better interiors and seats no doubt at all. To sum it up you're just a silly wimp skoda fanboy. Anybody who has more than an average intellect would buy an elantra.

I own both a Verna and octavia I'm not comparing by any means but Hyundai's have improved a lot especially the latest gen bcoz I got of with just a small dent after being hit by a bus from back
