I had the pre facelift and now the new one, first time I've had the same car twice running, which says a lot. The qualities are space, interior quality, easy to drive, well spec'd, good performance and economy. I had the 1.4 SE Sport and now the 1.5 SEL. What is better: LED lights, upgrade from Xenon, self dip now and are as good as you can get. Just leave on Auto. I got 50 mpg from previous model and get 55 mpg from the 1.5. I drive at speed limits. The new one has cylinder deactivation, so runs on 2 cylinders at 70 on motorway, if not going uphill. What's worse: the facelift cabin now has reflective piano black, picking up street lights reflections and an unreadable speedometer in most daylight conditions, due to the numbers being white on light grey. Chrome surrounds to dials also reflect light and distract. They took a neat driver friendly design and made it worse. The new Alcantara and leather seats are flatter, harder and less comfortable than the previous version. That's my real world review doing 10,000 mainly business miles a year. I would be minded to get the upcoming replacement model next.

I wonder if anyone knows the secret way to store away boot parcel shelf in these skodas, I see that Octavia's and Superb's reviews do not mention it. Well anyways, if anyone ever wants to hide the parcel shelf in their skoda for the use of the cavernous boot space, then upon removing it, look behind the rear seats, the shelf basically slides vertically behind the rear seats and the boot trim.

In the last five years I've had a Golf GT hatch (150hp), Leon estate (185hp AWD Xperience) and now Octavia SE-L (150hp). The Seat was the highest spec car and most attractive design. The Golf was narrowly the best quality interior and probably handled best. The Octavia is the most refined drive and has the most space/ practical touches. All three are fantastic mid-size family cars. Never had any mechanical issues with any of them (admittedly early days on the Skoda). Cash for cash you'll get more spec in the Seat and the Skoda. On the Octavia I've got 18 in alloys, digital virtual cockpit, winter pack and chrome pack - none of which I could have afforded if I went with the Golf.

Ultimate FAMILY car...comfy and quiet with masive boot...loads of space in the back and with the 1.5tsi and DSG there isn't a car close to offer so much for your money...you buy this for a reason...no emotions just pure work horse... The 1.6tdi would do 750-800 miles per tank... Vrs it's a bit pricey but then you have golf gti engine so can't complain... Well done Škoda👍 Btw yes i am from Czech😂

I'm not Czech and I've recently bought an Octavia SE-L 1.5 TSI 150ps DSG. So refined to drive. So spacious. Lots of little practical touches. Loads of spec/toys - 18 inch alloys, virtual cockpit, winter pack, chrome pack, leather and suede seats....and a free umbrella. Crazy value. Same spec and toys on a Golf would have been £4k or £100 per month more. My first Skoda, if it's mechanically reliable it wont be my last.

I’ve had a 1.2 se hatchback for 9 years now it’s been a great workhorse the space inside is very good . Previously I’ve owned 3 Ford mondeos with the non turbo 1.8 engine and the 1.2 turbo engine feels just as powerful. The boot is massive and the hatchback opening makes it great for bulky items I can well understand why taxi drivers use Skodas

I just got this for my wife as a take kids to school and do shopping car, I was super surprised how nice it is. I have the SE Technology 1.0 TSI with DSG, I honestly can’t complain. The apple car play screen is massive, and everything is super solid. Leases it for 2 years for £102 a month and would do again no regrets. Only thing I like to point out is at 4:50 in to video my car has latched which release and lower rear seats so no awkward leaning. Second point is I hope we get 40-50mpg as only had it 2 days.

doctor perro I saw a deal on Skoda Simpson and got my local dealer Marshall Skoda in Purley London to price match it as the Simpson Skoda dealer was too far for me in london., But after I put deposit down maybe two months I saw the same car was even cheaper. Currently they doing it for £99: www.simpsonsskoda.co.uk/pch-offers/se-tech-offer/ Most online lease companies had same offer on same model I would strongly recommend the DSG as it’s supper smooth and the radar distant control works better compared to the manual version. I got 1 litter version as it’s just local driving but they doing 1.5 littler for a little more. Before this I took advantage of a Skoda yeti Monte Carlo DSG for £60 a month. Both vehicles worked out with deposit 4K over 2 years with 8k and 10k miles. Honest I think it’s a super nice car at a great price. Would 100% get again. The autonomous breaking already helped us prevent a serious head ache.

the 1.5TSI 150hp in octavia is advertised to do 5.1L/100km. While this is true is you drive in 6th gear 80km/h on straight road in eco mode, I get 6.8L long term consumption according to trip computer and around 6.4L according to what distance I can drive with a full tank (50L, cca 750km) So.. the reality is - manufacturer figures aren't made up, but real world performance is disgustingly worse than what they advertise.

Yeah, I have to agree. The UK spec isn't well equipped at all, regardless of what James says - S doesn't even come with rear electric windows, yet costs about £17 000 making it a bit on the expensive side compared to others. Also, the build quality is certainly reflected at that price too. The headlights however are actually full LED, the tail lights now get LEDs as standard, just not for the reverse, fog and indicators. Previously, they were all halogen bulbs with only higher specs plus vRS getting a few LEDs in the tail lights.

Ford Focus review..only mention of electric was the front seats! Why publish these crap biased reviews? If Ford refuse to embrace the future I advise you to disassociate your company from them.

There are lot of fancy and extravagant cars out there, but they're not as good as Octavia. It's a car, it's a machine and it should work well and be practical, which is. In this price pool you don't get a better car I bet.

It's a Hatchback disguised as a Sedan. You don't see the "hatch"? The trunk opens like a door. So it's a Hatchback.
