I had one of these (1.0L 115 ps DSG SE) as a loan car for a day whilst our Superb was serviced and I loved it - great fun to drive, very nippy around town and surprising fast on the motorway. I didn’t want to give it back. 😊

"Can't fit a bottle in the cup holder". Perhaps that's why they called them cup holders Matt.

9:37 That removable boot light is brilliant. When you're on holiday with a fully loaded boot it can get really dark and difficult to find something back there. BEST feature imho!

I like it and use it a lot. It has magnet inside, so you can stick it on steel surfaace.What is clever, it has regular 2 AAA rechargable batt. inside, you can open it change them when they get week after few years.

Spotting things like the missing sunglass holder when you have the sunroof variant is such a uniquely Carwow review feature. No other youtube reviewers dig into the practical details as much. 10/10

I have the 1litre 115hp dsg Skoda Scala, looks exactly the same on the inside. Same engine too, brilliant little car!

Matt, Don’t try to compare every car with the luxurious cars from Merc, BMW and Audi. This car is one of the best looking car in its class. It looks clean and sophisticated. This should be the go to car for anyone who is a middle class and who wants to have a decent drive. Review it properly.

Picked up my Kamiq 1.5 dsg auto Monte Carlo on Friday and it’s a brilliant drive actually, and the Monte Carlo styling makes it look even nicer than the standard. Great car.

@@pdarwin1973 How would you know though? Dealers might label their own as ex-demo, and those don’t get treated like this, but the cars sent for journalist reviews just end up back in the general used market.

the armrest in the back is optional (I have it in my kamiq) the trims differ in my country, I have even the front dynamic indicators as standard

Very good review! I live in country, where Kamiq is produced. I think Kamiq does not look like so pretty as competitors, but it is practical, roomy, modern a bargain compact crossover. Kamiq is built on base of VW T-CROSS, but it is in segment of OPEL MOKKA,VW T-ROC, KIA XCEED, FORD PUMA, no in segment of OPEL CROSSLAND X, VW T-CROSS, KIA STONIC, FORD ECOSPORT.

Just got one of these as a rental in Italy. Hadn't driven a Skoda before. I am actually impressed how well it drives. It's fairly quiet and smooth, the 6-speed manual works great, I don't know which motor it has, but it gets up to speed on the Autostrada. Could always use more power though. I like to drive, though, so we'll see how it handles through the twisty mountain roads. Unless they swap me out again, I'll have it for six months and that does not worry me. They gave me a Seat Arona before and the thought of that thing for another six months was causing me to lose sleep.

Back in my day we would call the Land Cruiser a SUV and the kamiq a bloody hatchback

I'm all for the old school handbrake. Unless the cable snaps they just work. Electronic ones have broken in the past 2 vehicles I have owned due to electrical problems etc.

After countless visits to auto shops and talking to other people about it finally made a decision to buy this car hopefully its reliable as they say it is. Its my first time buying a skoda. Love the panoramic roof and the virtual cockpit though, An option worth adding.

Didn’t expect that Skoda would give a car for mat to review after seeing the rolls Royce phantom video

Why do car reviewers bang on about three adults in the back. I can’t remember when I last had three in the back. Last thing most would worry about.

However, Škoda made a great car out of Kamiq. They did the same with other cars, like Octavia, Kodiaq, Fabia and so on... Quality of Skoda cars is awesome, trust me.

Looks like Matt found his mojo again. Great and fun review!.

I am driving a Kodiaq and I have tried Karoq a couple of times for a test-drive. From the SUV's, Kodiaq is definitely the best. Saw Kamiq at the dealership when I brought my Kodiaq for a scheduled service inspection... It's nice from the inside (digital display and so on), but the boot looks a little bit too small. It might just be an optical illusion, but Scala looked way better than Kamiq when comparing it one after another. On the Karoq, it usually felt a little bit too jumpy & rocky on the speedbumps, Kodiaq handles those way better :) And when you compare the pricing of its peers, it's definitely the one to go from pricing perspective - has best value for money :) Also looking forward to seeing more new Octavias! Those looked incredible during their reveal.

Quite a few nods towards the A3 Sportback in the external looks. I like it, I suppose that just as in half empty versus half full, one person's 'bland and boring' is another person's 'smart and classy'. One of the best in class ground clearances will attract some.

the ground clearence is definitely a key point for me, because I live in Romania, the land of potholes and fucked up roads.

Is this like a Seat Arona? had one on loan from a garage the other day while car was in for a service. The Arona was a 1.0L petrol 115BHP and DSG, absolutely blew me away how well it drove, would never have guessed it had such a small engine. Smooth, quiet, great ride and sophisticated feeling for such a modest offering!

I see Škoda had a little inspiration in the front styling from the Nissan Juke... smaller light attached to the grille and bigger light below. It's nice knowing that cars that get inspiration from the Juke come up looking much better.

7:37 place for the ladies hand bag to get stuck..

I actually love how this car looks. Clean, classic, elegant and it has everything you need. Love how VW didn't change the classic look through the years as well. I don't like sporty cars though. I reeealy dislike Fiesta's and generally Ford's new 'fishy' facelift. Those cars look like shark faces. Also hate when my car's dash is distracting. It's definitely personal taste.

Gabriel W seat was always boring. Even if they produce a Leon or Ibiza with 500hp, it will be again boring. Nothing serious. They new leon has some nice led lights, but again is boring.

The more crossovers I watch more I understand just how great Car the Renault Dacia duster is... The most practical in its class, best price and Best in Offroad among Crossovers I can proudly say it, Even better than Subarus or no less. In my country Romania exports them in Renault logo and with those Maldive rims it looks even better than Dacia version, Glad I made that choice, though that car is very underrated in the world, but Very popular in eastern europe, where we Love that go anywhere attitude

We have kushaq in India ie based on kamiq and skoda has distributed features in both cars equally instead of making it perfect for both countries. Like touch AC, better steering in kamiq and digital MID and lumbar support in kushaq

I think Mat should review the driving assistances on more vehicles like u did on the Mercedes A Class and the VW Golf MK8. If it isint as relevant for the car I would suggest putting that subject as a separate video like the infotainment and practicality ones! Thanks:)

Journalists should adapt (just like companies do). New luxury became all these safety crap. Then, there's difference if car can drive itself on motorway (Kamiq, Juke...) or it can't (Mazda CX30...). Also, Kamiq has Side Assist which sees 70m back, usually cars see 20m back. Should be mentioned for every car. Innovate something in videos.

Nice review but just to point out again that, while I like Waze, it can only do route planning if you've got a data connection.

It's funny because I just watched your review of the new Audi A3 and you loved the rear interior door handles yet you have slated them in this Kamiq.... They are the same handle😂

I really like Mats reviews especially of more "affordable" cars because they are just fun to watch. The other ones are great too, but they are just not usefull to me, besides beeing entertaining. It would be great when you could do few more reviews of the first kind.

I love how mat constantly attacks Skodas when he gets them to review Kinda weird though how he didn't throw the parsel shelf in this vid. Edit: Wow mat 12:30 I dont think we would have ever thought that the car turns left when u turn the steering wheel left🤣

I have a skoda fabia, and I am planning to get a small SUV and must say the skoda kamiq looks reasonable for my budget.

I like the confidence he has in his editors. He keeps mentioning the "pop-up banner" in almost every video and in almost every video they forget to add it😂🤣

Does anyone know weather the adaptive suspension pack makes the car more comfortable in normal mode in comparison to not having that option? Or does it only add eco and sport but the normal mode is unchanged, no matter what?
