Agreed. Man I saw them live at a monsters of rock concert at alpine valley back in the late 80s or early 90s. I think it was right before this album came out. It was amazing.

I never felt that these guys got all the credit they deserved. They really were one of the best bands around at that time Loved the reaction when they kicked it in!!

I actually thought they were just another hair band after those first couple of balance came out but when this album drop I was like woah!

As for their "genre"... they probably got put in the Hair Metal category but if you listen to their sound, they weren't quite in that realm IMO, a little harder and less flash than the hair/glam guys.

My Mum got squashed in the crowd at Wembley stadium back in 91. When she came round Sebastian and a couple of security were helping her come round and he gave her his scarf to keep her warm. You'd have to be special forces to get near that scarf now 🤣

They are one of my favorite bands from that era and Sebastian Bach's range is absolutely amazing!!! Did you know he was on broadway for a short stint I believe it was in Jekyl and Hyde? I always thought with such strong vocals like that, he'd be good in musicals! Yes, it's definitely 80's glam rock. Sometimes people refer to it as Hair Metal lol Sometimes it's derogatory, sometimes it's not. Depends on if you're a fan! ;) Keep on rocking!

Skid Row was my first favorite band when I was a teeneger before I was into Metallica, The Gathering and Rush... I love "Slave to the grind" album....

Sebastian and the sick vocal range. My buddy picked me up to go to work, and we were long haired metalheads, and he said check this out by Skid Row, and he played Monkey Business. We were head bangin all the way to work.

This is by far my favorite skid row tune...and that's saying something given their catalogue.

Maaaan, listen. When this came out when I was a teenager, I wore this album OUT. Did you know Sebastian Bach used to practice his vocals to Whitney Houston songs? He was so sad when she passed.

Skid Row was like the last great heavy metal band before grunge hit. It was a shame, I think they would have had a string of popular albums but the public's interest in music switched to Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

As a teenager of this era. This is one of the few hard rock/metal albums that still holds up. And I wasn’t even a big Skid Row fan at the time.

I saw Skid Row in their prime in DC in 1991 when they opened for Guns N' Roses. They were awesome and blew GN'R off the stage.

I remember walking into the Navy NEX and seeing the new Skid Row album, Slave to the Grind. I got back to my barracks room and put it in my CD-player boombox and fired it up. And this comes on. I was blown away from the moment. Great album. Great track.

This is just another level of how insanely great Skid Row was. This is a much harder album than the debut. In my opinion, this was Skid Row showing the WORLD that they can put out some really hard rock and not be lumped in with the hair bands of the time. Slave To The Grind is ALMOST a speed metal song. If you decide to react to it, you wont be disappointed.

This takes me back to my college years. Shooting pool in the student center with this song blasting on the jukebox! Good times.

I was 21 when Skid Row came out and some called them "Hair Metal" which they were not. Bands like Poison (one example) were Hair Metal. Lots of makeup and HUGE, high, hairsprayed look. The biggest difference is the music, which Poison was all about "Don't need nothing but a good time..." or "Talk dirty to me." Skid Row had more complex music, lyrics and singing. Thanks for checking them out!

My favorite track by them is still "Quicksand Jesus"

For those out there that know who Michael Sweet is, I think Sebastian and him are about the only vocalists that can pull off opening screaming like that.

This was my middle school and high school years. I had their poster on the wall. I went to their shows. I even had the t-shirt. Sebastian Bach has such a great voice. Much later than this (2002) I was able to see him in the Musical Jesus Christ Superstar and he was amazing in that too!
