Always learning exciting new things from you! Thank you so much 💜
That was one of the most informative, easy-to-follow and articulate how-to videos I've ever seen. So refreshing! Thank you!
Thank you! I am so happy I was directed to this video!
Brilliant!! Thank you. You are always give such clear and easy to follow instructions !!
Thank you Kay! I can't wait to play! 😊❤
Excellent information and directions! Thanks!!
Kay thank you so much. I've been learning from you for years. :)
love your videos..learning..thank you
Thanks for the great video!
Hi Kay - Thanks for this tutorial, it’s very useful! Would you happen to know why some svgs are set up to be able to draw and some are set up to cut? How do they differ? Every file I import into design space gets imported as a cut image other than when using plotterfun. What does it do to the SVG to stop the line width from scaling so it doesn’t create an outline but just leaves one single line to be drawn? TIA!

Cutting files are closed path, while drawing files are open path. The default conversion of jpgs and pngs to vector in Design Space (and most other vector design programs) traces both sides of the line to create closed shapes, which are what you want for cutting. Plotterfun uses entirely different algorithms to create single line, open path vector designs to start with, so no tracing is needed.
This is awesome thank you. Do you know if this would work with engraving at all? That'd be real interesting

This would work the same with an engraving tool as with a pen, however, you would have the inversion issue to deal with since engraving appears light on dark.

Can you also use this to engrave on the cricut maker???

Possibly, if you invert the image before you input it into PlotterFun, or if you backfill with color after inverting. I do have other methods for engraving photos elsewhere on this channel.

@@cleversomeday thanks! I will have a look!
Hi. Am I doing something wrong? I am importing a simple SVG into Design Space (basically a pen and ink camera drawing) yet when I select "Linetype->Draw" it turns into double lines....I just want a single line. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

It is difficult to obtain sketch-ready images, which is why I was so excited about the new tool in the video. If you start with an image on paper and scan it, or otherwise start with a bitmap image (png or jpg format), the conversion process to SVG will always give you double lines as both sides of the "line" are traced. The best way to avoid that is to do your drawings digitally using open paths in a vector design program with machine drawing n mind from the start. Centerline trace is another option, but doesn't give great results on pen and ink drawings.

@@cleversomeday Oh my thanks so much for your rapid response! So I actually purchased this black and white drawing of a camera from an online, "downloadable" :o) site. It is a simple black and white drawing with no "intricate" details. I am trying to get Cricut to draw it on cardstock that I can then cut out to make thank you cards. So I don't have any control over the initial vector design. Of note, I am pretty handy with Photoshop as I have done wedding and portrait photography for years which is why this is aggravating me so, I suppose. Haven't dealt much with vector stuff but I wanted to mention in case you had any tips I could use in Photoshop to make this work. Sorry to keep bothering you on this!!!

@@scotthall4968 You're no bother, but I'm afraid I don't have any good news for you. This is really a vector vs bitmap thing so there's not Photoshop solution, either. Here are a couple of blog posts that might help you understand cleversomeday.com/rrcenterline and cleversomeday.com/fabricchallenge
Can I do this with PC? I don't have a MAC
