Sketch A Day: What the heck is the degree of an ellipse?
Ойындар
"THE DEGREE OF AN ELLIPSE" heard that one before? What does it mean? What could it be? How does it work and why is it important to understand? Well the last question will be another video, most likely, but Sketch A Day is having fun drawing ellipses and I'm going to break it down for you using a styrofoam cup and hopefully it makes a bit more sense for you.
Today I'm using marker paper and simple pens. If you need supplies, help support me by buying from amazon.

Thanks! Just having fun 😎😁
thank you! it's very helpful.
Haha! Well explained Spencer. I have pointed some of my students to this video as we are dealing with the same topic at the moment. I loved the pause before “ehm... let’s call it tighter or smaller” I also find myself searching for the right word whenever I explain this. Someone suggested the word ‘acute’ but I’m not a native English speaker so I don’t know if that’s correct. I usually say ‘narrow’. 😄

Wow. Means a lot coming from you. Thank you and appreciate the support!!
wow i am new to your channel and do a lot of realism sketching. this video was so well explained in such a calm and interesting manner. There arent a lot of people who are serious and know a thing or two about arts. Thank you very much for the great way you explained this video. I will look forward to seeing more of your videos.

Great video, just found you. Keep up the good work!
Really good explanation 👍👍👍
loved it, subscribed to the newsletter too. It would be great if you made video on intersection of two objects, for example, two cylinders intersecting at 90 degrees like a T joint.

Hey I was taught this method last year, but my ID prof ditches the entire square plane for just a major/minor axis setup. What are your thoughts on the difference between the two methods?

I think that works I like to think of the raw geometry and while I don’t always draw or show it, I’m always thinking about what the structure of something is as a draw.
its a good video but it doesnt answer the question in the videotitle, how do i meassure/deduce the degree of an ellipse geometrically?
