Lol I too grew up near a cemetery and in my young adult years would often go for walks at night time (relatively safe middle-class neighborhood). One night I was sitting on a bench in the cemetery and heard a bell jingling repeatedly. I thought, this is finally it, I'm going to experience something terrifying. All of a sudden out of the dark a big ginger cat with a bell on its collar runs up to me, meowing and rubbing all over my legs begging for pets. It was the cutest almost-paranormal surprise :)

I don't believe in ghosts at all but I have a weird story: when I was 10 I was sleeping with my door open, which faced the hall, and my Dad was pacing it for hours. I drifted in and out of sleep, and saw him pacing for a while. I took the bus to school, and while I was still at my locker a couple teachers came and told me my mom needed me home, so they drove me. My mom huddled my sister and I and then I find out my Dad had died by suicide and when he was pacing it was to and from the room where we kept our guns. A few weeks later I woke abruptly from a deep sleep and was jolted upright, to see a shadowy figure pacing the hall. It disappeared when my sister walked out of her room, and when I asked her she didn't see it. Probably was mind playing tricks on me from grief and other psych things, but the closest to a "ghost story" I've personally had.

the closest thing to a ghost story i have is actually quite wholesome - last year, as i was taking my final high school exams, i was wearing my grandmother's watch to be able to tell the time. she had passed away about a year and a half prior. i'd gotten to the exam almost late and i was very stressed, but a few minutes after it started, i suddenly felt a light breeze coming from the window and the smell of the ocean (mind you, i was 4 hours away from the sea.) my grandparents lived right next to the atlantic. right away i felt this feeling of calm wash over me, and then the breeze and the smell disappeared. i like to think my grandmother was there with me.

I lived in several haunted houses In my life... I had knocking on walls, sleep paralysis, things flying across the room. Doors opening. Things talking to my kids. Depression etc... My mental health was not good in everyone of those houses. On 1 occasion something even took the form of my son... But was not my son. Also at this same place I woke at 3 am to see my son on top of me choking me. This was abnormal behavior. Also use to hear voices in the ceiling above me all although it was a 1 story building. I could go on but you get the point.

So I have a creepy ghost story. Ever since my dad died, I’ve kind of always felt... a presence, I don’t really know how to describe it. I’d felt it for a year or two before, but my first experience was some coding bots I was working on in a STEM Club started moving on their own, even thought I hadn’t started the program. For a few years, nothing else that couldn’t be explained away happened, but I still felt the presence. Last year things got pretty creepy. It was my first time having to walk home alone, since at my old school, my mom picked me up. Every time I waked home, I would hear footsteps behind me on one crosswalk, and I would look behind me and there would be no one there. The footsteps would continue for a couple blocks and then stop. Not like someone turning in another direction, just an abrupt stop. Eventually, I learned to just ignore it, but a figure started showing up in the stairwell, just staring. I learned to ignore that too, but one day, I was sitting in my room drawing and I moved to lay on my stomach. I clearly saw my foot, completely fine. I laid down and opened my sketchbook and then turned around to get a pencil. There was a huge cut down my ankle, with a ton of dried blood around my wound. There was nothing in my room that could do that, not to mention that the blood was dried when there was only a few seconds that I could have been cut. Even creepier, I told one of my friends, and the next day, they had three cuts on their back, the same shape and size as mine. After that, things cooled out and I haven’t had a lot of experiences since.

I was always skeptical of the things I saw until one day as a kid I was chillin in my room & saw my sister (we shared a room) chillin in her bed. She looked over & waved at me, and then my sister came home from school. Whatever I saw on her bed was not her & it disappeared after I heard my sister come home. That was the undeniable evidence I needed as a kid to believe everything else I saw too. An entity also stole all the cherries off of our cherry tree in our backyard, but that’s another story lol

I've always lived in apartments and I have felt like someone is watching me, especially at night when the lights are off or when I'm in the bathroom and I'm standing in front of the mirror. I've always been very scared of the dark and of mirrors. I tend to have an overactive imagination so it might just be that, but I always hope that I never experience hallucinations or sleep paralysis because I'm sure I would have a heart attack or a panic attack.

The only haunting in my life is the shower dripping randomly, the piano chords getting out of tune and the wind. I had sleep paralysis once, it was my own terror: Rapunzel's witch laughing maniacally. So far it's been over 14 years since this time... I'm a skeptic.

Once when I was younger around five or seven, I went to live with my grandma and grandpa, my grandparents were downstairs arguing while I was drawing in my bedroom. then I heard my dog whimpering in her cage, the whimpering started growing louder and louder until I grew tired of it and started to hide under my bed covers. I heard lots of paper rustling on my table so I blocked my ears until my hands hurt enough to pull them away. While still under my covers I realised the arguing had stopped, and doing so I went downstairs. My ears still felt blocked but I shrugged it off. As I looked into my living room, I saw my dog asleep and my grandparents watching the television. I asked why they were fighting earlier and they said they weren’t. I was so confused, was I hearing things? No I couldn’t be, if I was it wouldn’t have been that loud, or would it be?.. I went into the kitchen, I felt like I was being watched and behind me I heard… “Hello, kira..” That was the last time people saw of me, my grandparents recalled nothing after they retired. I just know I’m under the house now. Short horror story made by meeeeee! Have a nice dayyy!

You don't need to be paralyzed to experience a hypnogogic hallucination (between sleep and wakefulness). I've had them all my life. My mom did too. She's convinced we can see ghosts, but I seriously doubt it. Its a terrifying experience but once I look away and look back they're typically gone. I don't beleive in ghosts either

I have heard talking in my 1800s early 1900 home not me nor any one who was awake ( since no one was awake at the time ) but also seen people who have passed away, only for them to dissapear

My old house was haunted and it's what turned me into a full on believer. When my mum met my stepdad, I was about 5 we moved in to his house which was built in around the 1920s ( I live in England btw). I have always been very opened up to spiritual energy and just very aware and educated on it as my family are all pagans and practice witchcraft, as do I now. It was creepy from the get go and I have a number of stories, both my own and my parents. Here goes: when I had been living there for around a few weeks, my stepdad had said that stuff had happened there and if anything happened I was to go back to what I was doing and act as though I was unbothered. A few nights every now and then we would all wake up at around 4am to the door leading to the kitchen from the dining room slamming open and closed, we would act like it was the dog but a dog couldn't do that. I would constantly see a man, dressed in a full suit with a cane, hunched over in my bedroom, and sometimes experience some sort of physical contact where I'd feel as though he was pushing me into my bed. I would also see a woman, in a dress hair in a low bun which I would often think was my mother and go to speak to find she was in the other room or had gone out out to get food. There was a time where my mum had just given birth and for about 2 weeks after we came back from the hospital we would hear my sister crying upstairs even though she was in the living room, or if she was asleep and it wouldn't stop until we'd checked. There was also a time where me and my mum was out and had to rush home bc my stepdad had been scratched the whole way down his back, he still has scars from it. When we adopted another dog, she would cower when in my bedroom, or in the stairwell. I would also hear clear voices and developed anxiety to a point where my psychologist attempted to have me diagnosed with schizophrenia. My mother brought an angel board which my aunt had given her and was able to communicate with a man who said his wife had left him and he had ended up dying of some sort of disease. When we looked it up, the sight we lived in used to be some sort of burial for a factory that existed then and a man of the description of what we were seeing were in the pictures of them. It got to a point where we couldn't live there so had to move, now we hide the angel board and none of us ever touch it as well as blessing our door frames with black salt, we've had similar experiences since, but nothing in that house was good, and we knew it wanted to hurt us

I still don't know if I believe in ghosts, but I did have one thing happen to me that I can never shake. My grandfather passed away a few months prior to us moving to another state. My mom and I were still mourning and were speaking about him in the kitchen. Suddenly a strange smell overwhelmed us. It was the scent of cologne my grandfather wore religiously. It just boggles my mind since we were alone and not cooking or spraying anything. It's a weird happy/sad memory for me still. Very confusing to try to rationalize.

I feel like it’s more likely that a homeless person or an Airbnb owner or someone like that was sneaking into the house those girls were staying at instead of it being a ghost. I mean it’s not unheard of for people to be staying in someone’s attic or sneaking in for food. I recently watched a video of someone telling news stories of stuff like that happening.

I don’t know why I watch these all they do is make me more scared than I already am. Also we used to live in a flat (or apartment) with my mum and siblings, and we had a bitch of a fridge that would randomly make really loud sounds, conveniently whenever one of us were home alone (especially my mum because we live with our dad half the time), and it scared all of us until we looked over the reviews and loads of people also had the same issues so that was really fun. I had insomnia for most of my life since I was a child because I was always scared of the dark thanks to the sleep paralysis, paranormal activity and abuse I would experience in the night as a child. I would hear loud bangs in the night in my room, my clock was thrown down one time, my paintings thrown so hard like you can tell when something drops vs is thrown. One time I stayed up all night talking to my friends on social media and hadn't gotten ready for bed yet, I walked to the bathroom to clean my teeth. I was brushing them when I heard the an extremely loud tap on the window in front of me, (this is upstairs and there is no way anything can get to this window because its so high up with no way of anything outside reaching it) I freeze and look at the window and hear the same tap another 2 times, I see a finger tap the window as well which is odd because they would of had to tap very hard since it was so loud. I was completely frozen staring at the window for maybe 3 minuets out of fear, it was just completely pitch black and blurred because it was 3am and a bathroom window so I didn't see anything else. I rushed to my parents room to see if they heard it because it was so loud and they were sleeping, I woke my mum and asked her just encase and she said no so I went back to bed and that was it. I've also had an experience where I was peeing at like 4am and and I heard ice cream van music suddenly blasting upstairs and I scream and run to bed. My experiences make me feel so scared when I think about them that my eyes are filled with tears and I feel on edge for the rest of the night. On top of being abused as a child in the night time at lot, having insomnia all my life apart from the past 2 years, being scared of the dark and watching a lot of stuff like pizzagate conspiracy theories and demonic videos on youtude opened some sort of portal in my life that allowed me to see supernatural things. I never watch scary content anymore in fear of triggering another portal opening, I've gotten help to work though my abuse as a child and have a strict bedtime routine that helps me fall asleep really fast now. Also having more loving people in my life who are there for me and being more positive. Sarah you should feel blessed you don't experience this stuff because it's just not nice. I worked hard to make it stop and now that it has I am so much more happy! :)

Saying you're skeptical of ghosts is really interesting to someone like myself who has had experiences from childhood into adulthood in almost every home and at every stage of life. Just because you haven't had experiences doesn't mean there isn't something out there. I really hope you don't go through a ghostly encounter because I can't even imagine how spiritually peaceful your life must be without it. I've had something growl at me from under my bed (no pets, no siblings), my mother has had glass cups thrown at her from thin air, and recently I saw a shadow figure in the spare bedroom directly above mine where I always hear footsteps and shuffling at all hours of the night. It might sound silly, but as I type this I can hear clanging in the bedroom and I'm the only person home. Clutching my pearls over here while you sit in your bubble of skepticism.. I'm a little jealous 😅

I've had experiences that other people consider supernatural (people who were there and people who weren't). Just because some people are less afraid doesn't make you right lol.

@@kamilliasaylor1000 I never said I was right, I said she's lucky that she hasn't had an experience that scared the daylights out of her. There was once a scenario where I heard footsteps (sounded like a large man wearing dress shoes) approaching my room while no one was home and when I went to shut my door, someone was pushing from the other side. I called the cops and after 7 police cars pulled up and 12 officers searched the house, they found no evidence that anyone came in or out. All the windows and doors were locked and there were no scuff marks on the tiles from shoes. I'm not saying I know best by any means because people are free to believe in their interpretation of the supernatural, but my personal experiences have been unrelenting and horrifying at times and I'm sincerely jealous that she lives such a peaceful life without paranormal goings-on 😅

So I’ve experienced sleep paralysis like that and it’s absolutely terrifying. While I believe doctors associate it with periods of severe stress in your life and not necessarily ‘paranormal’ experiences it’s still just as horrible. I’ve experienced when I was going through a toxic relationship and when I was on pain killers after surgery so I get why BUT I also had it when I stayed at the famously haunted Stanley Hotel and that one still makes me wonder why I experienced it. As a skeptic to anything haunted I didn’t expect to experience anything at the hotel but I still can’t make sense of things that occurred there.

Are you a skeptic of those shows like Long Island Psychic or whatever too? I am definitely. Huge con artist. Would be funny if you ever saw her in person and she tried to "read you."

Definitely, she's a fraud. She just does cold reading in public, and with an edited show, they can cut out any misses. There's recording of some of her paid events on YT, and you can see so many more of her fails and obvious cold reading tactics. Holy Koolaid has done a wonderful video debunking psychics that feature her.

I wish there was a way for me to really like show Skeptics what I've been through. Like I wish there was a way for them to actually experience for themselves things that I've heard seen and witnessed. The things I've been through first-hand would give most normal people nightmares.

I’m not a big believer in ghosts but I do believe that energy’s, bad or good can stick to places. Places where a lot of people have died due to war, murder, or sickness sticks there. I do think that are mind can see things because we put faces and bodies to things that happen as opposed to anything else. When you’re a skeptic you are most likely to go the other way. You put rationalizations on them. I would believe too, that cemeteries are probably the least haunted place. After all, that is where a body goes to rest, not the spirit.

I have some scary stories… they’re kinda scary? Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ At night, I was in my kitchen by myself eating some food. & my balcony is next to the kitchen & I heard talking on my balcony.. & no one else was awake it was just me by myself.. & I heard talking on my balcony & I was confused because those voices didn’t sound like my mom, dad, sister, & brother. I look outside on my balcony & right as I look 👀 the talking stops, & nobody was there.. it scared me enough to leave my lights on & sprint on out of there 💀 I was staying at this mansion for 5 days with my family ^^ but.. the mansion ended up being haunted.. my sister, she was playing a game with her best friend. They were playing the pool table. When they came back, the balls on the pool table were mis placed. She told me, my brother she told Everyone. Everyone said, “no” she got really scared & when it was night time, she closed the curtains & went to bed & nobody else was awake. When she woke up she was the only one up & when she looked the curtains were open. & I stayed up really night & heard nothing going on with the pool table. But I did hear things at 3 A.M… & my sister went outside with her best friend & they heard the balls on the pool table move. & nobody as again was there.. but my mom knew the mansion was haunted. My sister, she sees figures, & ghosts. She saw something at the corner of the door peaking. She thought it was my brother but he was sleeping & so was I & so was my parents.. she thought it was my brother but when she looked more closely to the figure, she noticed it wasn’t him.. she saw it as a demon, with a stretched mouth up to its eyes. She told me this story & it scared me.

Have you ever consider doing on of those "I spent the night at a haunted hotel and/or bed and breakfasts"? My sister wants to do that with me because her boyfriend isn't a fan of that (he absolutely hates it and doesn't like horror or ghosts stuff) and she doesn't want to go alone if she does it. Personally, I never actually experience anything that I couldn't easily explained away.

I live in an old house and I have had experiences but the closet door and radio seem not so strange or ghosty to me. Because houses settle, doors tend to open on their own because the floors and walls are not exactly in place. And as for the radio, I've had this happen due to batteries running low. But I do admit that the stations changing is weird. My family has a remote control toy car that's older than me and hasn't been used in about 20 years but one day it just turned on and started going out of the blue. that definitely freaked me out but it was probably the inside mechanism stuff giving out.

I don't think it's weird at all to want to experience the paranormal. I want to believe in it really badly too, and I'd be excited if I experienced something like this - provided the ghost wasn't trying to harm me and wasn't demonic. I just really want to believe that death isn't the end, because it scares me. These stories at least make me think, because I know they can't be explained by our current understanding of the physical world. So thank you for reading them and I hope you do more

I consider myself a healthy skeptic.. I really do. I don't normally have polarizing opinions, I land somewhere in the middle. My husband use to be a full skeptic until he met me, and really got to know me. I think it's totally fine to question or try to find out, when something happens, was it something else? I actually think it's more important than anything because.. Even though I have had my own experiences throughout my entire life. I hear other stories and know that a lot of times... There's usually a rational explanation. And by not checking, or really knowing your surroundings, you could easily have misconceptions which get mixed into the Real ghost stories. It makes everything seem unbelievable. Most of us live side by side with spirits, but they don't and will not bother us. The 1st story is definitely more along the lines of what you'd experience. I had that happen at my uncle's house. With doors, the heater or air turning on can open a door. Unless it's a folding type door. That has happened to me. Radios can turn on by timers ect. Or by timed outlet plugs. But those old 90's radios, they don't have timers. And that's what turned on while I was babysitting my cousin late one night. After hearing something that sounded like someone hit the wall behind me with a sledgehammer. I had a clock fly off my wall and hit me in the back. The lack of energy and depression, anger, can absolutely happen, and it affects more than 1 person. Sometimes you don't realize how bad it is until you move. And even when you move, there's like an energetic adjustment period. Full bodied apparitions.. ok.. this one is extremely hard to prove because most times, it's a personal experience. You just get "lucky" . Same with feeling watched. But normally "feeling", hearing and seeing things will result in something larger happening eventually. You hear these stories and think, ok.. this happened all the time, but you can have things happen sporadically, and then nothing for a while. It's not going to be just 1 thing that happens. I think when you're around spirits that want to mess with you, they will end up trying to get you scared. And most of the time, the way they react, depends on how you react. People who say they're skeptic turn themselves off to the other things around them. Which is totally fine. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's also why, unless they have an extremely active ghost around them, they will not have experiences of their own.
