Japan has been on our radar as a Skate & Explore destination for years. When we received an invite to the Red Bull Sidewinders Race we decided to spend an extra few days exploring the city of Tokyo.

    I love how respectful the police/security seem here,usually in the US they can be assholes and will go right to yelling at you,but these Japanese officers seem to just tell you to leave respectfully

    If they don't react to skateboarding, don't worry. The Japanese have a custom in which it is seen as inappropriate to express too much emotion. They possibly find it interesting, but they're just adhering to their customs.

    Not very. You just find the right spots or go out at midnight when the streets is mostly clear than you can ride everything.

    I'm so jealous of you guys!! I just got back from studying abroad in South Western Japan(Fukuoka). I had a board and everything but not the guts to ride. Especially not in Tokyo. You're absolute madmen and I love it. Made me miss Japan and now I want to go back some day to skate all these spots!

    When I went to visit Japan in 2018, my Japanese friend told me skateboarding is often seen as disrespectful in her culture, and it is therefore not allowed in a lot of places. I hope attitudes are changing now since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This looks awesome!

    Do right handed skaters face the right side? I've just started skateboarding. I'm right handed and i face the left side but majority of the skaters i see on YT face the right. Idk i just feel like i've been doing it wrong

    Not necessarily 😂. I'm left handed but play guitar right handed and skate facing right (regular). Place your board upside down and hop over it. Or have a friend slightly shove you forward. Whichever foot you naturally try to land with is your dominant foot. (Left foot means you ride reg facing right, and right foot means you're goofy facing left). Also good luck in skating. It's so fun and relaxing.

    The stone statue is way too expensive than you think it is to make a scratch onto it. The rest are fine. Love the spirit of exploring a foreign country by skate or by walk, if you are slow enough you explore more details and fun. They have a culture that you skate inside a skate park and swim inside a pool, given that situation you enough much freedom in the country 😅 and bless you you had a good stay.
