The strait that connects the North Sea with the Baltic, with depths of over 700 meters, is notorious for its dangerously strong currents. But currents also mean food and therefore nourishment for the large swarms of fish that inhabit the region. The sea grass meadows are comparable with those off the Californian coast.
Harbour seals, grey seals and orcas hunt here, as do the rare black mouth cat shark and porpoises. Close by, catfish mate, which in itself is quite spectacular and never caught on film in this way before. Lion's mane jellyfish with nettle threads of up to 30 meters in length make their way through the open sea.
Skagerrak's coastal regions are amongst the most beautiful and varied in Europe and boast one of the world's great bird paradises. Oystercatchers, sandwich and arctic terns are more plentiful here than anywhere else in Europe. The infinitely long dune landscape of the Skagerrak, is Denmark's answer to the skerries of the Swedish and Norwegian coasts.
Large seal colonies can be found in the isolation of the small, picturesque islands and one can come face to face with the animals. In this rough, yet infinitely beautiful landscape, the many streams and rivers that open out into the Skagerrak, are quite remarkable. We accompany salmon in an equally beautiful river landscape and meet with ospreys and sea eagles and eventually come face to face with a brown bear mother and her little ones.

Anyone watch documentaries to fall asleep. They are calming and I don't have to watch to understand what's going on because the narrator explains it all
So cool to see that mommy fish 🐟 curling around her eggs after she laid them being so protective and looking all tired

The sand lizards are gorgeous!
The wolf fish are very interesting. This is the very first documentary I've ever seen where this much information has been shared about them. Truly fascinating & excellent!

This is an exceptionally good documentary about a fascinating part of our world that very little is typically talked about. It's exceptionally well done with wonderful narration. The video is beautiful & the audio is clear & easily understood. The entire video is educational as well as entertaining with a great amount of information previously unknown about an area not typically discussed about in videos very often. This is a refreshing & greatly appreciated look at the unique & varied life forms in a remote & often inhospitable area of our planet.
I have not gone further than kenya but this beautiful documentaries makes me travel the world I thank you all who sacrifice their time to make people like me understand the world

Awww!🤗Jambo!Joseph!! I left my💖&Soul in Kenya....! Many Years ago actually! Natural History has been my 1st L💓V ever since I can remember~ from 'approx' age....5yrs!🙄. My darling Father taught me so much of ALL of Natural History In Junior School I was forever, last in the 'Crocodile Nature Trail': as I spent so much time looking at the Minutae of every smallest creature I came across,or could find~all Fauna & Flora of course. This Channel is new to me tonight & I have left an Intro' comment of high praise of which it deserves! I'm sure I will be joining you relishing further 'Vidz' of such high quality of all the Team! Kwaheri....! Rosie🦓{UK} (Stay🦋Safe ALL)
I had a 4 hour nap and I just woke up to this.
BEST DOCUMENTARY EVER! I truly enjoyed all sorts of wacky facts! Gems such as fish stealing eggs from jelly fish genitals! They deserve an award. Loved it.
I live in Denmark and actually learn quite a bit from this video 😊 Thanks

So cool to see a documentary about the place I live myself! 😍 I’ve seen documentaries from everywhere else in the world from Africa to Siberia to Antarctica, but I’ve never seen Scandinavia through the same lens before! I’ve gotten a whole new appreciation for the environment I can find right here at my doorstep 😁

Wonderful documentary. How ever Sigurd was wrong when he said the salmon dies after spawning. The salmon in Glomma is Atlantic Salmon, and they swim back in the ocean, and returns the following years until they get old and die. The babies also comes back to same river they were born.

Yeah. National Geographic did a good job making this and so many of the documentaries this channel exploits to selfishly profit off while committing copyright infringement wks pretending it’s their content when none of the content they have shared or stolen , rather, just to plaster ads all siding and profit off the bs belongs to them in the slightest ....
