Spectacular Secrets of the North Sea
The North Sea stands for storm floods, vast tidal landscapes, high dunes and rugged coasts: it’s also one of the most important intersections for bird migration. All year round, her beaches attract not only holidaymakers but also countless seals. The North Sea is extraordinarily varied and surprisingly unknown, her diversified underwater world often hardly accessible. In over 2.000 days of shooting above and below the water, the team has collected footage of the rarely filmed and spectacular: only a few days every year, basking sharks, at up to seven meters long the second-largest fish in the sea, surface off the white cliffs of Dover. In the Norwegian fjords lurks the even rarer Greenland Shark. They age anciently and skulk their way through the ice-cold deep sea mostly blind. Every spring in Holland, massive squids meet up to mate and spawn.
The German North Sea also has much to offer: one can encounter porpoises, the smallest of all the whales, off the island of Sylt, with its young. They are mostly mistaken for dolphins and are extremely difficult to film. On the beach of Helgoland, grey seals stage their spectacular fighting on a few days each year. And last but not least: the Wadden Sea. It is among the most productive environments on earth. In spring and autumn, flocks of migratory birds stage breathtaking air-shows over the North Sea - like we’ve never seen before.

I love seabirds, especially the puffins, the colorful beaks & feet!!!
A most beautiful and peaceful film, so perfectly filmed and timed, and with an excellent narrative and a lovely narrator. Exquisite. Thank you very much.
that fact that nature videographers can get the shots like at 10:57 is absolutely amazing to me still

Probably knew it was there but was scared to get close because of the camera man?
It is amazing to me what these photographers go through to bring us these beautiful documentaries I am for ever grateful and we are more educated about nature because of them we would know very little about our planet if it wasn't for them.
Aww looks like the seal has found herself a friend in the young lady snorkling. That must have been a fun experience!!!!
Absolutely stunning per usual, I could watch this all day! I love that y'all say what the critters are and explain some of the physiology etcetera! Thank you so much absolutely love your Channel❤❤❤. I swear some of the fish do know your filming them and show off for the cameras! It's amazing! I'm so jealous of your job lol
Oh jesus, if this isn't the sweetest, most adorable of all sea documentaries on KZread, go ahead and hit me upside the head with a frying pan.
Absolutely amazing nature footage 👏 loved it ❤️ 😍

I have a Friend who's been fishing the bering sea for 30 plus years now. He seems to love it. It's really amazing the diversity of life and different things people do. There are trades I'm sure I've never heard of. Ways to live that people have no idea idea of. Its crazy cool Nuts and Beautiful all at the same time

Thank you so much for wonderful documentary ...and the music, wow!
Back in my scuba diving days one of my favorite things to do was to play with the juvenile seals. They would come right at you then bear off left, right or right over top of you at the very last second! Much fun but also a bit haroring at the same time.

I see... so you only had a thing for the "juvenile" seals... Keep an eye on her, men, she just confessed that she's got a weird thing for young seals; and that's a slippery slope. Next thing you know, we'll find out she likes pestering newborn sea turtles.

Wonderful videography, loved this.
What an absolute amazing documentary. And wow that North Sea is a raging angry sea so it seams.
not me saying "run!! run!!!!" to the small shark that was trying to get away from the seal
I’ve spend at least 2-3 weeks every summer of my childhood at the Vaden Sea, and lived a lot of my childhood at the Danish Westcoast - my first experiences being at sea, (except for ferries), was fishing on the North Sea! Of course I’ve also watched underwater footage of wrecks up along the West Coast. Watching underwater footage of animal life is however a very different experience! Thank you for uploading….

@@gorillaguerillaDK -- Because you're a gorilla... and we all know that gorilla's don't know how to fish (or ride ferries). Kidding aside, he's just a troll, ignore him. I'm from the U.S. but after my service in the U.S. Navy in the mid 1980s, I became a commercial diver and took a job working for BP in the North Sea. I got to see the bottom of it on a regular basis, but nothing as beautiful as this (unless you find wellheads pretty). I've never been colder in my entire life than the year I spent in the North Sea off the coast between Norway and Scotland. Still, it was the greatest adventure of my life, and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat if given the chance.
