    I picked up a few tubes of the iCraft foils on clearance at a big box store, along with a pack of the shaped rub-on adhesive. I tried it out over acrylic paint in my art journal just to see what it would do, and no matter how much I burnished, some of the adhesive was still exposed and it stuck the pages together. I had written off the foils and adhesive design sheets, but after watching this video I'm going to try them again, this time perhaps on a porous surface rather than over paint. TFS!

    Great! Also- warm up the adhesive a bit with a hair dryer to make it even more sticky! Just wait until the adhesive has cooled before you rip off the foil.

  • @lyndaj2759

    @lyndaj2759

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Marlene Sauer Do NOT burnish while still hot - per Tim Holtz (it will flatten your image). Pat the foil down when it's first applied, then as it cools, rub it with your finger(s). Rub in circles and as it cools it will loosen and come off.

    Love these ideas. I have run into a problem with foil, though. I used to send cards I made to deployed soldiers and once in a while I would get a "return to sender." When I opened up my own greeting cards that had been returned to me, I discovered that the foil accents I had put on the card front (using a glue pen) made the card front stick to the inside of the envelope...and sometimes would partially rip some of the envelope off onto the card. I started to think that maybe my cards were not arriving in the nice condition which I intended! Anyone else run into similar problems/have solutions? Thanks again, Jenny!

  • @crafttestdummies

    Since the glue pen stays sticky, it's absolutely possible that if even a little bit is left unfoiled, it would leave a sticky spot and it would stick to the envelope. I'd suggest giving your project a light dusting of powder or cornstarch to make sure there is not sticky bits. (If you weren't sending it to a soldier, I'd suggest ultra-fine glitter.) Just a thought!

    I'm not familiar with that product- the description says that it's a repositionable product and a temporary hold. There is probably not enough grab to use with foils. I like that Beacon product since it has such a great aggressive "grab."

    CraftTestDummies you've never heard of it? Its the glue ppl use on back of rubber stamps to get them to stick over n over again. I store mine using that method vs cling mount.works great and is super tacky n strong, I bet it'd work...Thanks though! :-)

  • @crafttestdummies

    @crafttestdummies

    9 жыл бұрын

    Gavi S I've heard of it, just never tested it though. The word "temporary" makes me suspect of it's compatablity with foils, though- you need a very aggressive "grab" to get the foil to release from the mylar.
