This song is brilliant. Really captures both lyrically and sonically what all these various mental illnesses are like and helps us neuro-typicals see things from the other side of the veil and understand what these people go through. Bipolar, ptsd, schizophrenia, post partum depression, autism, dissociative personality disorder... such a powerful look into the inner mind.

It's been a long time since I've listened to the studio version of this. (The CD breaks it up into individual songs, instead of 1 long song as it should be. I listen to the live version on my iPod) Thanks for bringing it back for me. There's enough subtle differences between the studio and live versions that I've forgotten the way the studio version sounded. Still the greatest prog-metal song ever!

In my initial listens of SDoIT (the 40-min song), I thought the overture sounded dumb and too cheesy, but the more I listen to the full song ever since, I realize how well the overture pulled together all the movements of the entire song together. Again, one of the greatest songs ever done by DT IMO is the title track Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. It captures so many aspects of mental health struggles and illnesses of the human mind.

Hey Rich and Kel. The entire Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is one emotional roller coaster for sure. For me , Disappear just destroyed me. In 2000 my mom passed. At the time I was living in New Orleans and my mom was pretty close to you guys in Weston. She was in the hospital recovering from Cancer surgery and treatments, and my sister called to tell me they were putting her on hospice. This was a Sunday. Monday I got there at 4 pm and she came home at 5pm. She was just torn apart from the Cancer. I don’t think she weighed 75 Lbs out of her normal 115. The nurses forgot my mothers Morphine and she screamed on the top of her lungs for almost 12 hours in pain. The Cancer was throughout her spine. I fell asleep at 6 am the next day. At 7 am the nurse said to me, come say goodbye to your mom. I said , goodbye ? Call an ambulance ! She said she wouldn’t make it. The nurse said she can’t recognize or comprehend anything. I went in the room and she was in a daze. Blank stare. I sat on the bed next to her and she seemed to have focused and she said my name. I turned to her and she lifted her hand to mine, gave me a beautiful smile, and she closed her eyes and took the longest, slowest inhale , and that was it. It destroyed me for a pretty long time. I was 40 when that happened. No matter what I did, I saw her face. There are lines in Disappear that bring all of it out. My mom never met my children. That would be my biggest disappointment. She was a great woman. Thank you for your great channel and sharing your truth with us. Love is truly what this crazy life is all about it. I appreciate you sharing yours. There is a beautiful epic song about life and love. #SpocksBeardFromTheDarkness It’s on the X ( ten ) album This song is amazing. Also Mulmuzzler, which is LaBries solo band. #MulmuzzlerShoresOfAvalon Again Thank you, Bill

Great Reaction guys! Just wanted to tell you that please please please listen to this again considering the lyrics. It's a really powerful record. The disc 2 consists of 6 mental diseases described perfectly within the lyrics. I personally love THE TEST THAT STUMPED THEM ALL. It's about schizophrenia, in the first verse you hear from the delusional character point of view which thinks he is in a concert as a superstar, then you realize he is schizophrenic and you can interpret what he was thinking, it also refers to how doctors used to treat this disease, shock treatment, like the movie shutter Island. Overally loved your reaction and actually was expecting you to this album since day zero of your chanel P. S. Tell us more about the stones, didn't get that much

Hello there amazing people. I would love some In Flames and Dark Tranquility to be heard and reacted to. "In Flames - Moonshield" ," In Flames - The Jester Race" The where the songs where I learned to love growling myself when I was younger so long ago :). "Dark Tranquillity - Mine is The Grandeur ...of Melancholy Burning [FULL SONG]" ( it is 2 songs where the first one is an instrumental called Mine is the Grandeur.... that leads into ... of Melancholy Burning, and it is just amazing, It is to me what Melodic death metal is all about,, The early Dark tranquility and early In Flames. "Dark Tranquility - Lost to Apathy" is another great song from them. Well there are entire albums from both these artist that you can pick any song and never go wrong, with DT I would say all, with In Flames I am not as big of a fan of their newer stuff. Ty for an amazing channel and keep us on this metal journey. If you liked these I have many more band to offer :) Stay lovely. #painintheask

good call on dark tranquillity! when i was in high school, they were the band, more specifically the album "the gallery," that got me into the nordic metal scene. anything from dark tranquillity is awesome! i like in flames too, but in the early 2000's i stopped paying attention to them, but their older stuff is really good.

I would suggest Kamelot, which is melodic metal with very light prog leanings. I would highly recommend the songs Prodigal Son or Torn (off the Silverthorn album), but you can't go wrong with anything off the Haven or Shadow Theory albums. Just wanted to say I love your stuff and don't let anyone even suggest there is a "correct" way to listen to metal or bands you shouldn't enjoy. By the way, don't know if you were aware that Orgasmatron was originally a Motorhead song (slower tempo and you can understand the lyrics, which are great). Keep up the good work.

Vassiliki Polychronou thank you so much for your comments and suggestion. Yes, absolutely, you are not alone. It has been suggested many times in the last few weeks. I am not sure if you are aware or not, but 10 weeks ago Rich buried his first born son, Jared. He suddenly passed away in his sleep from a massive epileptic seizure at the age of 23. Jared was huge heavy metal master shredder and the dynamic lead vocalist/guitarist of a very successful metal band in British Columbia. We created this channel to honour Jared every day by living his first love - Metal and progressive music. The white Jackson Flying V guitar that you see in every video was Jared’s. He is always looking over our shoulder. 😊 Many of you have said to me that Blackbird is a song that Rich needs to hear. I have every confidence that all of you will be right on the money. We will get to it soon. Thank you for taking the time to send in your request and thank you for being here with us.
