    To avoid the breaking of the battery plastic cover on the 1st gen Sire V7, you just need to remove the foam inside. I did that and after 4 years the covers are still perfect.

    Thanks for the well-edited video, the great review, and the great playing. Your review was the final convincing for me to get a V7 (not sure if 4- or 5-string)...and motivation to work more on improv/ad libs, too. I've been wanting a tobacco sunburst to round out my sunburst Stingrays, and an active Jazz-style bass is exactly what I've wanting over my passive MIM and Squier Js. I'm sure I'll love this.

    It is its own, and you can see that Marcus Miller has had a great influence on the development. It has a super nicely designed head, nice to see that a manufacturer has gone completely away from looking like a fender (which in my mind, is just a myth). The assembling is super well made, I would think it should cost more than 1200 USD in this version. I should definitely have one more in my collection, as a backup for this one! And by the way, thanks for your very nice and in depth review.

    I know I’m late to seeing this but I appreciate the video you made here, I’ve been diving deep into wanting a J in my life and torn between one of these and a fender ultra this seems like the smarter choice but there’s the part of me that wants to be on stage with a known name on my bass like “Fender” and that’s probably just shallow of me, to me there’s a little pride thing in me I guess about that

    It is practically an analogue of the Fender AM Pro II Jazz Bass V bass, but at the same time the Sire price is three times cheaper, the workmanship is high, and the readability in mixes is ideal. Sire concedes only in one, in live performances. There is no low middle that permeates any instrumental composition. This is easy to fix with a preamp. Today, this is the best Jazz Bass in the world at an affordable price.

  • @MichaelSchmittEleven

    Agreed. Except for the sound in live situations. I've played my V7 4 and 5 strings at various gigs, and they never disappointed so far. I normally hardly use any EQ at all on the amp (except for room compensation), but these basses just marry perfectly to the bass drum. 😉 Thx a lot for watching and commenting.

    Hello Michael, I currently own a V7 five-string, but before I got it, I wanted to buy a Yamaha BB425X, which you also had. I'm a beginner, playing for 4 months and there's another BB425X for sale now, for a good price. Since you had both, I would appreciate your opinion on what should I do. I dislike the neck dive, weight and too many knobs on the Sire (I know that seems funny) and the low playability high on the neck on the Sire. I like the tone, neck is fine to me and it's comfortable, I like the bigger body. I played a BB425X in a music store, but that was 3 months ago and I was a lot worse than I was now, so it's not relevant to me. It seemed to me that it has a slimmer neck, it balances better and is a lot lighter because of being passive. Can you tell me your experiences and opinion, since you played them both, and are 50x more experienced than I am. Thank you.

  • @MichaelSchmittEleven

    @MichaelSchmittEleven

    Hi Aleksandar! You're right, I owned both. And I really loved the sound of the Yamaha. Unfortunately, its weight was too much for me, especially during long shows. The Sire is much more comfortable to play, in my opinion. Sure, it is a bit neck heavy, which is quite typical for Jazz Bass style 5-string basses. But you can solve that issue with a really good strap. If the knobs do disturb you, simply play the bass in passive mode, as I do most of the time. It has got a killer sound. But the active mode is there, if you want or need more EQ options. All in all, I'd recommend the Sire V7. All the best, bro. Please stay safe and healthy.

    Just unpacked a 5 string Sire P7, alder. Well, it does have quality issues out of the box. The fretboard edges ARE sharpy. The volume/tone knob operates awfully, you can't turn each part individually, up or down one drags the other along. My 4 str V7 1st gen has a similar problem, but on P7 it's even worse. I tried to pull out the knobs to see what could be wrong, but they wouldn't go out. And lastly, the alder body seems to be built with two pieces of wood at a ratio of 2 to one, which looks kind of weird to me. The smaller piece forms the upper part of the body, the wood structures of the two pieces do not match at all, the line where they're glued together is clearly seen and it looks cheap and ugly. Okay, fret edges and knobs are fixable, the weird body built is not, so I'll have to live with it. These are the things that got me upset after first five minutes of getting to know what I bought. But still my overall impression of the bass is more on the positive side and I hope we'll get along pretty well together))

  • @MichaelSchmittEleven

    @MichaelSchmittEleven

    2 жыл бұрын

    That's a bit disappointing. But one has to remember that this is a budget instrument. And overall, the quality is still outstandingly good. I had a Fender Marcus Miller signature, MIJ, 10 years ago. Great sounding bass, but super heavy, the neck couldn't be set up to have rattle free tone and not having too high action at the sime time. And the ash body was made out of 4 parts which were pretty strangely and unevenly glued together as well. So that's an issue you find on more expensive instruments as well. This V7 5-string doesn't have any of the issues I've mentioned in my 4-string review. You could send it back? The shop where I've bought my 4-string offered me to take it back and refunding the money. But I chose to live with the rough edges of a few frets, got it fixed along the way. And this bass is a true tonemonster! Enjoy it, and have a lot of fun with it. And please stay safe & healthy! All the best!
