Very, very interesting, thanks. That's what I call a comprehensive sound comparison! Love the Sire L7, but ooh, I don't know if I can cope with its 9lbs of weight! To me the LP Standard sounded best; I thought the very last strumming pattern in the video revealed the difference in price bracket, the Sire's section sounding a bit, er, 'cheap' - or would it have fared better with its original pickups??

It sounds better with the original pickups. I did another video like this a few months ago and I think the sire sounds better there. The weight - I'm pushing 60 and the weight hasn't bothered me all these years. It's really not that bad, just have a decent strap. And thanks!

J'aimerai acheté la sire l7 , peut-être p90, parsqu'elle ne coute pas cher et que je pense que cest avec ca que je pourrais trouver un son type white stripes avec de la Fuzz, (solo de balls and biscuits par exemple)

Wish I was there in France to join the band. 🎉 Maybe next life when we don't get to graduate this one. 😉 Legs Diamond (Starz, whatever), I wonder how many people have never heard that stuff. Always liked those guitar tones, tunes, and productions. Nothing has really caught my ear in the last bunches of decades.

There are many excellent bands that have not had the recognition "moxy" "captain beyond" and many other !!! the only rescent band that interested me was "Maragold" with "greg howe" !!!@@AdamGotheridge

.Captain beyond was with singer rod evans of deep purple, drummer bobby caldwell of johnny winter guitarist larry reinhardt and bassist lee dorman, both iron butterfly the first album dates from 1972 and is great, good listening !!!@@AdamGotheridge

So the Sire pickup swap took that guitar to the next level! It can now hang with the big boys. I still prefer the Gibson Standard, but the Sire seems better than Epiphone models in its price range. The new Sire bridge pickup is more well rounded/ articulate, and not as muddy, brittle/harsh as the stock was. ***( I take all that back. I re listened to the 1st video, stock pickups and they are better. )*** Did you do any wirring/pot change out?

@@coreyfoltz3672 That would really be the best comparison... you are a pretty smart guy. 🤓The Gibson would win, but I think the point is Sire is no slouch by any means. I originally got it because I wanted a LP with EMG's, or another one hanging around tuned down 1/2 step, but it's just great the way it is too. I might still do the EMG thing, but I despise changing pickups, so there's that too.

How was the improvement of the Sire with the new pickups?

@@preciseaudioblog To me, yes. They are kind of like decent PAF pickups. The Duncan Saturday Night set, to my ears, generally hot and pokey, and the way the highs is accentuated on the neck was weird too. They looked cool though. 🤘 I think I just like the sound of a lowish output PAF style pickup. Higher output pickups feel kind of frequency limited to me. I have some hotter pickups in other guitars too, and sometimes they work great for something, but in general, they aren't for me. Thanks.
