I'm installing EMG pickups in my Sire Vintage V7 bass. I'll compare the stock pickups with the EMG's

The EMG pickups sound more puncher especially when it comes to slap bass. Good choice! 👍🏾

Those EMGs are phat and warmer than the stock Sire pups, to my ears. Personally, I'm a big fan of the V5 but I'm looking for pickups that are more warm and vintage than the stock ones. Ah, the never-ending search for sound. Sire instruments are such great bang for the buck, top-notch manufacturing standards and playability. Thanks for the video - food for thought.

your a/b demo convinced me that the EMG J pickups were well worth the time & effort to install. Thank you for the great demo. I am loving the combination of the active pickups and the passive tone control. Delightfully easy to adjust tone with combination of volume/volume/tone.

I put a set of passive EMGs in my G&L Tribute JB (also a cheaper 70s-style jazz) bass and similar result. I love how noiseless the EMGs are while having bigger output than most typical jazz pickups. Although now I'm curious to give one of their active sets a try too

That's funny. I did the exact same thing to my V7 vintage 5 for the exact same reason. Too many knobs and yes, the difference is huge. And the single coil hum has always irritated me. I have used EMGs since 79 ( I think) Most of my basses have them. I love how quiet they are when I favor the bridge pickup... never any noise. You might want to try the BTS circuit. Active Bass and Treble boost and cut. The treble has internal dip switches for 4 different EQ curves. That will solve your problem with the finger style sound. Give it a shot. I think you are going to love it.

Very nice upgrade. Thank you for this comparison. Indeed, the EMG's sound fatter and punchier to my ears too.

I wouldn't say one is better or worse, the org have a nice steely top end and growl of their own, but these EMG sound phat and punchy, and compresses/tames the highs well. I guess it depends on your goal.

Great demo and, as usual, fantastic playing!!!!! I'm considering replacing the pickups in my 2016 V75 with hum-cancelling or some different single-coil pickups but I really like to sound of my bass the way it is. Are the EMG electronics quieter than the stock Sire electronics?

Fingerstyle they're pretty close. I prefer the stock slap because the EMG doesn't sit in the mix as well. The larger difference imo is getting the preamp you prefer.

BTW if you have a Mini Cooper in that color the you probably have a love for the British. Unless it's an old Mini , then you might have more mixed feelings. I used to have a 62 TR4 which left me stranded so many times I was getting a bad reputation. I had to buy a Volvo to make sure I would get to my gigs . I still love British cars but I would not want to own one anymore...ever LOL I think your bass would look better with the Union Jack. Then the bass and your car would be a perfect combination.

Fingerstyle not much in it. Stock pickups are a bit thinner in the lows and maybe more brittle in the highs. Slap is night and day. EMG's much more dynamic.
