fair play. same for klopp, rivalry aside, what a manager he was for you. Great personality, charisma and he didnt have a budget like we did or man city or chelsea yet look at how he got his teams playing.

I really loved Fergie’s level of humility and acceptance of a job well done, even if it was Liverpool that won the title. Well done Sir Alex 👍🏼

I never thought he "hated" Liverpool, I always thought he respected Liverpool. He relished making Manchester United what Liverpool made themselves to be throughout the 70s and 80s, if it weren't for those great Liverpool sides I don't think he'd have aimed as high as he did because that was the standard he wanted to pit himself against

His trophies-to-years ratio was less than Paisleys. His longevity for success is without question but don't label him as "the greatest" when managers like Paisley only managed for a fraction of the time he did

I agree, as a United fan I think that last league title was on of his greatest achievements. Don't know why that squad was left in that state. Maybe because he was to retire a few years previously. Poor quality squad didn't help the next man in after him.

no probs with Alex Ferguson, no problem with Utd. too, quite simply because we at Liverpool have an unenviable record, despite the so-called gap of 30 years without a league win. This is because what other teams are doing in the 2000s we did between the mid-60s to the late 80s till 1990, so that itself is a good 27-30 year head start over others. The supporters of other teams, mainly the young ones talk about their title wins during the 90s and 2000s, and while taking pot shots at LFC, they deliberately forget compared to their own 6, 8 or 9 odd titles, even without this PL, LFC were already at 18. All about knocking LFC from the perch is all cant, as I have known since at least 1984 when LFC won their 4th EC under Fagan because even Utd. were 11 titles lesser or lower than us and even today, before we won this one, when they were 20, they were a mere 2 ahead of us, and that is not even a significant gap. And again, while I for one have no probs with Utd. why does Fergie talk about Leeds being out of PL for 16 years and us winning after 30, what about Utd.'s own 26 year title drought, till 1991 before they won their own 8th title?? So it seems not just supporters and players, but even present and former managers esp. from Utd. despite having a title more than LFC now, are still holding grudges in their hearts, passing compliments with a closed mouth, lest their smile or happiness be seen. There is this OGS who merely said it was hard to see Utd. to see others winning the title and he idiotically only said congrats to Klopp and his team, the bugger did not mention LIverpool by name....and I don't want to use words like (some kind of) fierce rivalry, jealousy or anger.... it is none of that, it is pure idiocy. Even today, all such louts, should see not Bobby Robson (who was so glowing in praising Liverpool on winning the title under Paisley ahead of his own Ipswich back then) or indeed Sir Matt Busby (one guy who, I think along with (Sir, for me) Bob Paisley deserved the knighthood for sure) who still holds a candle to them, when we recall how glowing he too was in praise of Sir Bob in the old TV show, This is your Life. Sheesh, don't even mention such crackpots to me in the same breath as Sir MB and Bobby Robson.

I guess no one can deny that before all that, and to an extent even now, Utd have always been the financial giants in English or world football, and money-wise they have always been twice, if not thrice the size of a Liverpool or Arsenal.
