A special shout-out for Michelle on this project. The progress to-date wouldn't have been possible without her vision, dedication and endless energy. Every aspect of every vendor from beginning to end (land clearing, utilities, foundations, construction, farming strategy, ...) on this project has been masterfully orchestrated by her as the owner builder GC over the past few years. For anyone looking to learn more about how/why we did things ... look no further than Michelle. She is the expert extraordinaire of this 500 year house ... I'm proud to support her efforts, wherever I can, and follow her lead every day! =)

I recently talk to a woman who moved to the Italian island of Sicily. She says her home is entirely made of stone, with 24 to 18 inches thick walls. She claimed her front door was older than the country of the United States. Very interesting

They have some well constructed homes in old europe, not many of us think that way anymore.
Great channel; I just subscribed. This is a great building method. I'm surprised to see it applied in Hawaii as one of the benefits is the great insulation properties so you usually see this in colder climates. But when I think about it, why not use these in Hawaii too?:

Yeah, why not, and if you design them with good airflow, even better!
